  • "Pure Grace is a lovely holiday home."

It has everything we wished for. R Staying at Romney Grange always adds to the joy of staying in The Lakes. Thank you for your help with the TV.

  • "Pure Grace is beautiful , stylishly furnished with mainly hi-tech and quality facilities."

Sadly, heating and water temperature were not functioning in a way that matches the property, and requires urgent attention. For a 2nd week in March booking we were cold and uncomfortable which was not appropriate given the rental cost and on this occasion the property was not fit for purpose.

Thank you for providing this feedback. We are sorry you had problems with the heating and water temperature. Unfortunately, as you did not inform us of this during your stay, we were unable to rectify it to make your stay enjoyable. Our maintenance team went out to the property after your stay and confirmed that all systems were functioning. Lakelover Owner Team Property Owner

  • "We had booked Pure Grace originally for 7 nights but were available to leave home a day early & managed to secure the booking for an additional night on the Thursday."

On arriving at the property we found a number of issues. There was a small flood in the kitchen that had been caused by the freezer being turned off. This & the mouldy trays were cleaned by ourselves. The property was warm but it was obvious that the apartment had been unoccupied for a period in February & we wanted to boost the heating. We found the radiators almost impossible to control & the one near the patio door didn’t work at all. After settling in over the weekend we became very attached & comfortable at Pure Grace so we extended our stay by an additional 3 nights. Overall a very enjoyable & comfortable stay but could have been a better welcome by Lakelovers. Chris & Suzanne.

Dear Chris & Suzanne, thanks so much for your recent stay and your feedback. We can only apologise for the problem in relation to the freezer which we had flagged prior to your arrival with Lakelovers who are paid by us to look after such matters at the property in our absence. We are providing a remote control for the radiators which should help guests to move easily adjust the temperature. Thanks again for your comments. We arehopeful such matters will not recur in the future given this is Lakelovers job. Property Owner

  • "Pure Grace (love the name btw) is a fabulous apartment in a fabulous location, the view couldn't be bettered and to be opposite Windermere and the jetties for the boats made it very special."

The apartment is furnished and equipped to a very high and comfortable standard and it was super clean. however there were a few slightly negative things. 1. we could find no instructions for the microwave and could not figure it out. 2. we could find no instructions for the tv, apple tv asked for passwords so we were limited to BBC iplayer 3. there was a problem with the dishwasher, the middle sprayer had fallen off and we couldn't see how to attach it. 4. the plug in the hand basin in the en-suite shower room doesn't work. 5. the downlighters in the bedroom with the en-suite give off migraine inducing flashes when they have been on for a few minutes. (I emailed Lakelovers with these comments during our stay but had no reply) 6. some nicer mugs would be good. Worth noting for others that the welcome packs are very basic i.e. a few tea bags, coffee sachets, sugar sachets, UHT milk sachets and a few biscuits. Not really worth having, you will have to bring your own initial supplies. The purple folder says that some chocolates were left for our enjoyment, however there were no chocolates. Although very clean and comfortable, it all felt very impersonal and business like. There was a notice beside the lift warning that it could break down at any time due to power shortages, it advised us to use the stairs or put luggage or shopping in the lift and send it on its own. it advised that if we were in couples or groups that not all members should travel together then at least someone would know if we were stuck in the lift - slightly alarming. however the apartment is only one floor up and it is easy to send luggage up/down. although I have listed these 'negatives' they are by way of reporting and would not stop us renting Pure Grace again, we would also recommend it to others.

Some small niggles-on our first night we found glass in one of the beds which cut my son’s foot (very random but not serious) Some of the cookware didn’t work with the induction hob or the non stick elements past their best. Overall an exceptional and comfortable base for a special week away.

Thanks for your feedback which is helpful to ensure guests enjoy the best possible experience. Sincere apologies for the accident with your sons foot (hope it’s ok). We will speak to Lakelovers about the glass. Fresh bedding shouldn’t contain any glass unless there’s been a problem at the launderette where they were cleaned. We will also check the cookware - please note however it isn’t an induction hob. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay despite the niggles. Thanks again for your feedback. Property Owner

We just had to be very careful when we were using the shower in the ensuite, the water was very very slow to drain and flooded out of the cubicle on one occasion.

Many thanks for your kind feedback we are pleased you enjoyed your stay. Apologies for the slow drain in the ensuite. The cleaners have addressed the issue with some Mr Muscle shower drain which has fixed the problem. They will do this at each clean going forward to ensure no recurrence of the problem. Good to see issues raised on our previous visit had been addressed, thank you for the Christmas Tree and champagne glasses. Beautiful apartment, a view to die for. Everything you need for a perfect self catering holidays. Couple of minor niggles, dead batteries in remote control, heating took a while to heat up and electric wall heater blew out cold air, operating instructions missing. Would definitely recommend this lovely apartment for a luxury break in the Lakes. Location so good we never moved our car for the whole week. Easy short walk in to Ambleside, longer walks from the apartment, bus stop outside and Windermere ferries across the road. Would certainly return.

Chris, we really appreciate you taking the time to comment. We apologise for the problems you encountered which have subsequently been corrected. The remote batteries have been replaced and the electric heating is turned in for guests arrival as appropriate. Hopefully we will be able to welcome you again to Pure Grace in the future. Property Owner

  • "Our third time here, and generally satisfied."

Crumbs on floor and in one of the cupboards. Freezer needed defrosting. Other than that, OK, but we have been with several self catering companies in the past few years and all of them provide a ‘welcome pack’, which is a nice touch, even basics like milk, bread, tea/coffee, butter. One company goes further with pasta, sauce, fruit, wine. The only thing left for us in Pure Grace were some sachets of coffee, several years seriously out of date. Like some other reviewers, I feel Lakelovers has in recent years, lost any semblance of being welcoming, or making an effort to show a bit of customer care.

John, thanks for your comments and apologies for the problems you encountered. Admittedly the takeover of Lakelovers by Sykes caused a regrettable period of underperformance on a few fronts. We have managed to resolve these issues and pleased to confirm everything is back on track, particularly the cleaning. We have updated the guest manual and include welcome packs as standard for guests. There is also self check in via a lock box. We hope all this may persuade you to consider Pure Grace again. • "The property is ideally situated and in general well appointed."

but, despite previous complaints by previous renters over the last three years, the patio door remains broken and potentially dangerous. During our stay, we had no option other than to leave the door open and the property therefore open to the elements. Luckily the weather was benign. Then the issue with the dishwasher door, again the subject of previous complaints. The door slams open and is heavy, and at some point one of your renters will hurt themselves badly and break their leg. Again this has not been addressed. Finally, a welcome pack would have been appreciated, even if this had been limited to milk and bread. If these problems are not resolved we will ask Lakelovers ( or Hearts of the Lake ) to place us in one of the other apartments in the block

Thanks for your comments. Apologies for you not being able to use the sliding mechanism for the balcony door. After a review by the original supplier of the door, it appeared to have been pulled off its rails a few times by guests not following the instructions. We replaced it with a new door in Summer of 2022. The dishwasher door was also retightened at the same time having become a little loose from previous use. Property Owner

  • "Stunning apartment, luxurious as promised, the view of the lake and the mountains beautiful."

We were disappointed that there were no Xmas decorations considering we’d booked a Chrismas break away, this is the first time ever we’ve had to take our own. The key pick up rather impersonal no directions given etc. No welcome pack or basic provisions again a first out of numerous cottages we have rented in the past. Housekeeping rather lax. Although clean and tidy little things had been missed or forgotten. The dishwasher door was broken this has been reported twice on previous reviews, the hinge was broken making it very dangerous. In addition the smell from the dishwasher was disgusting, the soap dispenser wasn’t working. Cupboards untidy no attempt to group items to make things easier to find, some cooking items and table mats dirty. Knives useless, our Chrismas day turkey was hacked rather than carved. Instructions missing for key items. No instructions for heating, cooker instructions eventually found in kitchen. Reported lack of instructions for heating and someone turned up with portable heaters! We were too hot not too cold. The second bedroom was like a sauna it was set at 28 C we discovered on our final day when we managed to work out how to use the heating controls. Batteries had run out on remote control, no TV for our first night. Light bulbs in bedroom out. No basic toiletries in bathrooms. A minor but irritating point was no champagne glasses. Broken leg on sofa. There just seemed to be a lack of care, although luxurious something missing!!! Reflected in some way in that there was no Guest Book allowing you to leave personal comments, hence this rather lengthy review. Would we recommend it to others, yes with caveats. Would we return, yes, as we would be more prepared and that view is to die for!

  • "Excellent apartment furnished to a very high standard."

Fantastic views over Lake Windermere and Waterhead. Great location for walks from the apartment and boat trips on Lake Windermere. 15 min walk into Ambleside for food, either restaurants or mini supermarkets. No 'local' food shop in Waterhead, but there is/are restaurant(s) opposite the apartment. Rental price took advantage of the shortage of staycation properties available, we could go on a one week 4 or 5* cruise from Southampton for the same price!! However, it suited our needs, this time:-)) The Summary details need adjusting as there is only one en-suite bathroom and one bedroom with a bathroom directly opposite the corridor. A couple of minor maintenance issues that did not affect the holiday. The shower and bath do drain very slowly and can cause the shower tray to overflow, despite the notice stating the waste falloff being the reason, they both need a good dose of Mr Muscle Shower Drain Gel (much better than alternative brands available locally). We have a very similar en-suite with the same problem and Mr Muscle solved it.

Many thanks for your kind feedback. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay. Apologies for the slow drain in the ensuite. We have followed your expert advice and the cleaning team now ensure that Mr Muscle Drin Gel is used when cleaning the ensuite and shower. Property Owner

  • "We really loved Pure Grace, the apartment was lovely especially the views of the lake at it’s closeness to everything, our only complaint is the fact that you have to stop at lake lovers offices to collect and drop off the keys, there is barely any parking at the office and it is in a busy Town, not a very convenient way to start and end your holiday."

Consequently, the freezer was unusable May I suggest that housekeeping and checking of the apartment prior to our arrival was inadequate ? Second small point. The folder containing the operating instruction for the various equipments had been buried in the back of the coffeetable drawers. It needs to be on display. Excellent stay nevertheless.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
