  • "Lovely, well-equipped holiday house."

Really comfortable and well presented. Beautifully clean. Great location, just outside the bustle of Grasmere centre, but only a short walk away. Also really convenient for exploring the surrounding area. Parking fine for one large car (we managed to squeeze our VW van into the space). Bit tricky if you have a second car. There are some spaces at the side of the road just before you get to Pye Lane, but we did have to park further away to start with and move the car later in the day when it was less busy. We ended up leaving the car there for the week and just using the van to avoid losing our space (which was fine for us). All in all, very good accommodation and we would definitely stay again.

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed the property, it's amenities and local area. Lakelovers Owner Team Property Owner

  • "This was our fourth stay at Holmdale."

We like everything about the cottage - the convenient location, lovely views, excellent kitchen facilities, and tasteful decor. The new bathrooms and sofas make it even more luxurious and comfortable.

  • "Lovely cottage in a perfect setting with views of the fells all around."

All the comfort of home and very cosy with a woodburner and underfloor heating. Love Grasmere in the winter months as much quieter with far less tourists and many more serious walkers. Being the centre of the Lake District it has excellent walks all around so you can leave the car at home and go explore. We will be back.

  • "We have stayed at Holmdale a number of times it is a fantastic property."

The kitchen has everything you could possibly need and the new bathrooms are lovely. The only small negative is that it would be good to have a blind for the bathroom window. We have had another brilliant week, with numerous lovely walks from the door ending in one of the many lovely cafes in Grasmere.

Thank you for your kind comments. We are pleased that you like Holmdale and the new bathrooms. We have looked into adding a blind in the bathroom but because of the shape of the window and the tiling around it we have been advised that a blind would not be possible. We are still looking for a solution that will not spoil the view from the window and in the meantime hope that the frosting on the lower window offers some privacy. Property Owner

  • "Great place, great location, beautiful views from most windows!"

Very comfortable for the whole family and very well re-designed with lovely new kitchen and bathrooms. There was no toilet roll on the day we checked in but we imagine this was just an oversight. Would have loved an extra parking spot but understand there's not much the owners can do about that!

  • "We first stayed at Holmdale in December 2016 and we have returned to Holmdale many more times which speaks volumes."

A very comfortable, well equipped cottage, great location, stylishly furnished and the new bathrooms are amazing (one minor suggestion is to consider fitting a roller blind to the main window in the larger bathroom). We rarely use the car once parked up as there are so many walks from the door and the bus service, if needed, is regular & reliable. Another great week in Holmdale and already looking forward to our next visit later in the year.

Clean, comfortable, spacious, warm and incredibly well equipped, furnished and finished; the owners have thought of everything. The two new bathrooms were lovely and once the new sink and lock on the door are sorted, will be even better. We loved the underfloor heating and spectacular views and are keen to book again, but there is no availability until October 2024! Thank you for a wonderful week.

Short drive to Ambleside/Keswick/Windermere and so many other lovely places. The cottage was immaculate, well equipped and very cosy. We really enjoyed waking up in the morning to the stunning views from the windows, before setting off for an early walk. Would definitely recommend and hope to stay again soon.

Lovely kitchen with everything you could require. Secluded garden to chill in. Situated just 5-10 minutes from village centre but tucked away in a quiet cul-de-sac as peaceful as if it were miles from the hustle of other visitors to Grasmere. Co-op nearby for anything you might need and you'll be spoilt for choice for great places to eat and drink. We had a great time and would return with great pleasure.

  • "Really enjoyed our stay at Holmdale."

The property is very well equipped and perfectly positioned with lovely views of the surrounding fells. The cottage was very warm and welcoming without the need for the woodburners which I guess would be wonderful for a winter holiday. The kitchen and dining areas were beautifully presented and had everything we needed to cater for a party of 5. Had a slight issue with the sofas in the lounge which despite constant turning and plumping of cushions failed to remain comfy for long! This was only a tiny problem and did not affect our enjoyment of the holiday at all. We would love a return visit to this property and will be recommending it to friends and family.

Thankyou for your positive feedback, we are pleased that you enjoyed your holiday. We are aware of the problem with the sofas which were a new purchase but have proved to be very disappointing. We are pleased to say that the new sofas are arriving this week.. Property Owner

We did however find the sofas a bit uncomfortable. Also my wife had a replacement hip last year, and felt that a grab rail in the bath/shower would have given her more confidence. But overall a lovely relaxing week with everything we needed. Thank you.

  • "We recently enjoyed a lovely break at Holmdale, a very comfortable, well equipped house."

Perfect for a winter break. The house is very warm and the underfloor heating a real bonus. Holmdale is situated in a very quiet, picturesque location with delightful views all around yet just a short walk to village amenities. We had everything we needed for our holiday, in fact, we did want to stay an extra 2 nights but were informed that we would have to book out the whole week but due to work commitments, this wasn't possible. Holmdale is a house that we would most definitely like to return to at some point. Thanks must go to the cleaners/housekeepers as this property was spotless on our arrival.

  • "This is the fourth time we have stayed at Holmdale."

It's a great house in a great location. The only things that I would mention are, that the shower over the bath isn't ideal. A lovely walk in shower would be worth a "big smile" on the facilities score! Also, finding a parking space for second car can prove to be a challenge. The price increases since Heart of The Lakes became Sykes are not impressive, but I guess you have to market your house.
