  • "Overall we had a really comfortable stay, the views are outstanding."

Some of the furnishings are a bit tired, particularly the blinds. The kitchen was well equipped but no can opener to be found anywhere. With using the dishwasher we found for us there was not enough crockery, it would have been nice to have extra mugs and small plates. We were also slightly concerned about the spaghetti of wires and sockets behind the tv. However all these things are minor, Primrose Mount is a really comfortable place to stay, set in a superb location (you need to be there to truly appreciate it), five minutes from the centre of Bowness. We had a fantastic break and would love to return.

  • "Lovely property in a great location and with amazing views of Lake Windermere."

The property is tired in general appearance. Some of the slates around the back garden under the balcony area are loose and unsafe. Mattress in king size bedroom needs replacing. The bed in the single room doesn’t fit the frame….very odd. Shower in utility room was cold and would not heat up. Shame there is no WiFi, sky or Netflix. I am sure this could be installed and the letting price increased slightly. All the reviews are ripped out of the review book…therefore no point having a review book! Bins were full and reading previous reviews, this was an issue. However, the bins are emptied on a Thursday and people clearly put refuse in the bins before vacating and therefore this will always be an issue. Perhaps an extra bin will help. Accessible to both Bowness and Windermere with some lovely local walks. Overall our stay was good but I think the fact that the cottage is tired and needs some work should be reflected when looking at the cottage on your website.

Small addition of an extra TV's in the bedrooms would just finish this off. Don't get me wrong we spent most of our day outside but would be handy in the evenings when people wanted some space for themselves for a couple of hours.

Only issue we had with property is the single room bed, there like a bed frame tucked into a broken bed frame. Really weird. O and when we arrived the outside bin was full, it was out for collection by ourselves on day stated and it wasn't emptied? Other than those which are pretty minor it was superb

  • "Fantastic property with views to die for."

Yes, we agreed with a lot of the previous comments but none of them distracted from the wonderful location and relaxed feel of this property. Some coat hooks would be very useful in the utility room, we were lucky with no rain but would struggle to hang wet coats up ( unless we missed seeing hooks somewhere ?) There was an issue with the bins, we put them at the bottom of the main drive Wednesday night & they weren't collected, our neighbour saw other bins from the same agency being collected but ours was left ) bin was half full when we arrived so think it's been left a couple of weeks now. We can't wait to return ( if possible ) but desperately hoping the hedge gets trimmed down so no more of that Fantastic view is lost.

  • "Let’s start with THAT VIEW!"

What a place to wake up every morning. Utterly stunning. The cottage is so private as well, considering it’s a short stroll to town. The cottage is clean, comfortable and well equipped, the kitchen has pretty much everything you need and the shower nice and powerful. The gardens are really well maintained. However, it could clearly do with some investment as it is looking tired. The owner is obviously waiting for planning to be approved so isn’t investing in the current cottage which is a shame but I guess understandable. I do feel there are a few things that wouldn’t cost the earth that could be done - the garden furniture is getting tired and, as a previous reviewer mentioned but it hasn’t been sorted, old broken furniture has been left under the decking instead of being removed. The property smells a bit musty so would benefit from a really deep clean and some air fresheners. The DAB radio has a mind of its own and could do with replacing. A few of the window catches are getting worn. BUT saying all that…the view is stunning and value for money wise it’s SO worth it. I wish it wasn’t being knocked down as it’s probably one of the best views in Bowness!

The mugs and plates were disgusting all marked with black scratches from the knife and forks we even purchased mugs so we could have a decent cup of tea. Don’t think the windows had been cleaned in weeks inside on out and the television was rubbish just the basic stations and I mean BASIC. They could do with darker curtains in the bedrooms it comes light at 4am in the morning so if you can’t sleep when it’s light you don’t get much sleep and the building work next door was very noisy the builders started work between 7.30 am and 8am I think they were pile driving last week 8th July to the 15th July it was very noisy. It’s a shame the owner of the property has let it go because it could be lovely and I think they should spend some of the money they take of the people that rent it and make it more comfortable and supply some decent pots to eat of and some blackout curtains and higher settees so you don’t feel like your sitting on the floor.

Because it was so hot & sunny during our stay, we would suggest a couple of fans be provided (nothing that the next day delivery from Amazon couldn't solve for us!). Wi-Fi would be good and its addition might encourage more people to book (or maybe not!) The house name is quite small and was covered by leaves so we couldn't find it to start with (a very picky and minor point!) Please note, none of the above suggestions prevented us from enjoying what was a perfect few days away, we would definitely recommend it and will return on our next visit to this magical area called 'The Lake District' - Thank You!

It is advertised as no wifi so no surprise but in this day and age we felt it should be as standard. There are sockets still on skirting boards so modernisation there required. • "We loved the house and really enjoyed our stay."

The view and location are outstanding. The decor is dated, the pictures on the walls faded, but it was spotlessly clean, so we didn't mind. The only large negative was the very thin duvets. 10.5 tog may be standard, but this is a hillside house in the Lake District in March, with high winds and torrential rain, even hail at times. We used the lap banket off the sofa, and all the large towels spread across the beds, and were still cold. You really need to supply a couple of additional blankets in the colder months. Couple of other thoughts - there's a sign by each toilet asking not to flush unwanted items and put them in the bin provided - but there's only a bin in one of the bathrooms. There could do with being a bin in both. The curtain track in the middle bedroom doesn't pull smoothly and needs mending. A pair of kitchen tongs would have been handy, as would a small cheap hairdryer. I don't usually use one, but when we got very wet, it would have been useful. Other than the cold we had a lovely stay, and would come back, but maybe in summer this time.

The lounge and views were fantastic, we enjoyed looking out of those so windows so much. Hard to leave that view! All positive, thank you. Just two comments that I hope you’ll find constructive and may help future visitors. Outside seating; You may well have plans to provide 5 chairs for the out door seating area (not the deck, that already has 5) in the summer. However, just having 2 chairs was a bit disappointing and made it look a bit uncared for. So, we weren’t all able to sit out together. I suggest, if not already planned for, that that is provided. Bedding; We found the duvets quite thin and were cold, particularly on the first night. Although there were two blankets, they weren’t too warm and I think 3 would be nice, for each bed. We did buy a blanket in Bowness. I know it’s a very person thing and you can’t please all the people but I think this may be worth looking at. Having said that, everything else provided, especially in the kitchen, was very thoughtful and appreciated. The house was also very clean. We had a great stay and have already recommended the house to family and a couple of friends. We look forward to another stay. Thank you. Ps the binoculars were a lovely thought but you may not know they are broken. Only mentioning as may not have been reported.

Property in need of updating as property very tired looking, mold on the blind in the bathroom and around the bathroom. Damp on the walls especially in the single room, the backing on picture hanging on the wall was damp. WiFi needed for the property. Advertised dog friendly but the dog could get through the bushes in the garden to other properties as it wasn’t fenced or chicken wired off. The property only had one sensor. Light on the garage that worked in the evening so it was very dark when going outside with the dog of an evening, we had to buy a torch so we could see. We rang lakelovers a few months before Christmas asking if the property would have Christmas decorations which we were assured it would be decorated for Christmas on arrival we discovered it was not decorated at all, which was quite disappointing.

At that time I sent you lots of information re the property, which was fed back to the owner. We hope upon returning to the property the issues would have been resolved, however some have not. The cottage has many positive attributes particularly its secluded location, with ample private parking, and fantastic views. This is spoiled however with the general cleanliness of the property. Upon arrival after four, and baring in mind the previous party had to leave at ten the property was not particularly clean with lots of dust on lamps, skirting boards etc. There is black mould in the bathroom on most of the silicone and black mildew on the ceiling. The master bedroom still has damp patches on the wall which I did report last time. Overall we did have a lovely family break, however for the amount we paid for the property, it’s condition and cleanliness should have been much better.

There is black mould growing on the window blind in the bedroom. Also we had difficulty plugging our plugs in the sockets as the plug holes are on the skirting boards too near to the floor. The whole cottage could do with a bit of TLC and new furnishings especially the sofas! Also the lack of WiFi was an issue with us. We didn't realise it had no WiFi until after we had booked it as it didn't state it at the time of booking! We enjoyed our stay and everything else we needed was there. Location quiet & secluded with amazing views, but also close to all amenities in Bowness & transport links. Very comfortable & enjoyable stay. • "We have stayed at this property before and have commented on the amazing views, lovely garden and ideal location which are still the draw of this property but wasn’t overly impressed by the cleanliness and commented that it could do with a proper cleaning but we wiped over the surfaces in the kitchen when we got in and because of the plus points mentioned earlier we sort of overlooked other things that needed cleaning and just mentioned it in our review on leaving so it could be addressed by yourselves."

However, returning again we were disappointed that cleaning issues were still a problem - it still needs a serious spring clean where items such as black mould around both bathroom seals should be addressed and other cleaning issues - but basic cleanliness such as other people’s food still left in the cupboard and sugar spilt in the cupboard too are things that shouldn’t be overlooked and when putting our washing up liquid etc in the cupboard under the sink it was overflowing with stuff which consisted mostly of dirty cloths etc and nothing which was fit for reusing by the cleaner or guest and should have been binned and also the cupboard was full of a dark sticky substance which had leaked from somewhere and had to be cleaned before putting our few bits in it - It’s like the cleaners are being given a very short amount of time to give a very basic clean and leave new towels and fresh bedding to each property before they have to move onto the next one and if they don’t have time to clean the cupboards that guests will obviously be using then they definitely don’t have time to do the nitty gritty stuff like emptying a full magazine box which you wouldn’t want to go into because the top magazine was dated 2014 - I’m only mentioning that to point out that it’s crying out for a good clean and sort out but having read similar reviews on other properties, cleanliness is definitely an issue which needs to be addressed especially in these times. If when you open a cupboard in the kitchen and have to clean it there are basic cleanliness issues that need addressing so the 3 stars given are for the amazing views and location and also help from the owner through Lakelovers in assisting us to be able to use the garage for storing a mobility scooter.

  • "The House was fantiastic with fantasitc views - which was as expected and as advertised."

We had a faboulous stay and hope to come back. I do have some constructive negative feedback though - which can easily be remedied! 1. There is no WiFi. This is not mentioned in the advertisement. I appreciate staying silent on something doesn't mean it's there, but in this day and age you should state that there is no WiFi as it's more unusual for it not to be present than otherwise. I have to work when on holiday often and of course this also means there is no ability to watch BBCiPlayer, NetFlix or anything other than live TV - making the lovely TV a waste of space for people who don't want to watch the rubbish you generally get live (sorry but it's true). I agree though the view also makes the TV almost redundant! 2. There was no welcome pack - I am not sure if this is normal but not providing such necessities as T Bags, coffee, sugar and milk is rather mean in my book; 3. The Hoover. I like to keep things tidy and clean when away - so I hoovered up mid week to find the hoover stank to high heaven - so much so that I needed to open all the windows and doors and stand outside for bit. It needs either a new filter or the existing filter needs to be washed occasionally! 4. The shower unit over the bath - the seal on the bottom of the shower door is BLACK. This is not acceptable nor is it excusable. I suggest you make sure this is replaced or at least soaked and cleaned regularly. 5. The door in the main bedroom is marked as 'not openable'. I wondered why this is the case? It's the only fire exit from that end of the house and I was not comfortable with that - non of the windows open to the extent a person could get out if they needed to. 6. Last bu not least - there was only one toilet roll in each bathroom for a potential family of 5. i also think not providing a few psare is also pretty mean - we had to go out and buy more including tea and coffee and ended up having to bring it all back with us. Look this is a faboulous property and we'd like to go back again and make it a regular visiting hideout - but I hope you understand that these comments are very annoyting and could easily be fixed. I completely understand if the owners don't want to include WiFit becuase of some particular reason - but if this is the case then please say so in the advertisement.

We would like to thank you for taking the time to feedback after your recent stay at Primrose Mount. We are glad to hear you had a fabulous stay and found the house to be fantastic. We really appreciate all feedback whether positive or negative so thank you for going into detail here. Regarding WIFI, this is something we have never advertised and have always found that it was a great time for guests to switch off from home and work without it. We understand that people rely on it more and more everyday especially since the lockdowns so we will look into perhaps getting a package in the near future. We are glad the view kept you otherwise entertained though. Regarding a welcome pack again this is something which is more difficult with living away from the property and having it agency managed. We have taken your feedback on board and have arranged with the Housekeeping team to leave a Tea/Coffee pack out which will ensure you can make a cup of tea/coffee upon arrival as we understand after a long trip this is just what is needed. Regarding the hoover we have passed this onto the Housekeeping team as we purchased a new Henry so are surprised this is smelling already but will ensure the filter is replaced ASAP. Also with the seal we apologise this hasn't been picked up prior to your stay and will be looked at. Lastly the Housekeeping team have always provided just 1 toilet roll per toilet however we thank you for this feedback it has been passed on also. Thanks again for taking the time to fill in the feedback form and we have taken all your comments on board and hope we can welcome you back in the future still.
