  • "We loved the house and being secluded in the countryside."

The public footpath isn't a big issue, we had a few people pass the house but that was it. The beds were really comfortable and the kitchen had loads of space. Could do with a few more large glasses for enjoying big drinks! Overall and beautiful setting and the most relaxing weekend!

  • "High Lindeth was a lovely holiday cottage in a beautiful setting."

Very quiet and well placed for access to Bowness on Windermere (be it on foot or a short car journey). The facilities in the house were great with everything that you would need to enjoy your stay. The only thing that was missing was medium size glasses to drink water/ juice etc. The glasses that were there were very small. Apart from that everything was great and we really enjoyed our stay.

Constructive feedback would be as we had dogs we were limited to spending most of our time in the spacious kitchen. Whilst lovely it would have been nice to have had a settee or more comfortable chairs to relax in however this did not distract from our stay. We will be back!

We’ll equipped kitchen and gorgeous upstairs living room with log burner. Garden and scenery was beautiful . Just a short drive to Windermere. • "We had a wonderful holiday ."

The house is beautiful and was perfect for us as a large family. We especially loved the large lounge , the balcony and the little enclosed garden which was perfectly safe for the dogs . The kitchen was very well equipped - our only thought as a family was that the freezer was quite small but two fridges and two dishwashers - amazing . The location was fantastic- in the middle of beautiful countryside but only a short drive or a beautiful walk to Bowness and Windermere. I have already recommended the cottage to friends and would consider it as a location for retreats .

Although dogs welcome should note that they are only allowed in part of the downstairs where there are no armchairs (x2 chairs in games room- but these are not comfortable for more than short time). As we were there with my elderly dad celebrating his birthday we were then most of stay on dining chairs and never sat in the gorgeous sitting room. Would benefit from armchairs in the downstairs if you take dogs to be more comfortable. Only tiny washing up liquid provided and no kitchen spray/surface cleaner for wiping up- cloth was 1 disposable cloth. With larger group would be better to have supplies to support wiping up etc. also note hand soap not provided in toilet/bathrooms- looked like previous guests may have left some- but to know you need to take your own soap/kitchen roll/toilet roll etc would be helpful. We still had a lovely weekend but the feedback may inform future guests to go prepared.

Thank you very much for your feedback, since lock down we have been advised not to leave extra items in the property, as the is self catering the minimum is provided we are sorry for any convince this may have course, we are delighted your dad had a wonderful birthday celebration. • "The property was exactly as the photos looked, gorgeous!"

The land and surrounding area was outstanding and not far from town or restaurants at all. We all really enjoyed ourselves! Due to the large size of the house, some floors were not as clean as others but understandable in the wet weather. We felt it’s a shame there was no basic foods/condiments in the kitchen - ie, salt, pepper, tea, soap, and think this could be an easy small change for the property which would make a positive impact. The beds are incredibly comfortable too! Overall, highly recommend.

Thank you for your comments, we are pleased that you enjoyed your stay, and found the beds to be so comfortable. We take all comments on board. We hope to welcome you back. The Owner Relations Team Property Owner

The location is lovely yet just a few minutes from Bowness. The accommodation was clean, warm and comfortable with plenty of board games etc for the days when the Lake District weather does its thing. The lock box is a bit tricky to find, especially on arrival (on the back of the post by the middle of the three doors that says High Lindeth on it). Also, it might be nice to have a folder of local activities, cafes, restaurants etc that you recommend. Thanks for a great stay.

7 of us stayed for a long weekend and had so much fun. we had a chef for one night that worked really well with the open kitchen. The only improvement would be a separate towel and hand soap in the bathrooms and toilet freshener especially in the downstairs bathroom by the kitchen as it was used by us all. In the kitchen a small welcome pack of coffee/tea would have been helpful until our Tesco shop arrived. Although we had a very small dishwasher /washing up pack it wasn't appropriate for the amount of guests Otherwise Lovely property, Thank you

The location of the property is to die for, lovely and peaceful. The property is amazing, had a fabulous week, we ordered a couple of bags of logs from Ben and although we lit the lounge fire a couple of nights, we didn’t need to for the heat as the lounge was warm enough, we lit the fire for the sight and smell of a real fire. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and there are plenty of pots, pans, cutlery etc. All in all, we had a great time at the property, if there was one ‘fly in the ointment’ it was the kitchen and the bedroom above the kitchen was much cooler than the rest of the house. Apart from that, it was great and would recommend this property to my friends and family.

Thank you for your kind feedback. We are so glad to hear that you had a lovely celebration. We hope to welcome you back again. Property Owner

Just a few niggles with the management of the property. which we hope that the Owners will find constructive 1 Key safe Arrived in the dark, and couldn't find it. Fortunately H.O.L helped out. The location description is - wrong. Try this-- Locate the middle door - the one with High Lindeth above it. The safe is on the back of the right hand Balcony support post.-----Better still. why not put the safe at the front of the pillar- where it can be seen!! 2. Hair dryers We asked in advance whether Dryers were provided and were tole NO. Our ladies brought 3 with them, which made a total of 7 when added to the 4 we found on the bedrooms!! 3. Green Dot Emergency lights. In the main (with ensuite) bedroom, one of the Green dot lights had failed and had been replace with a full light which was on all the time. This had been taped over with gaffer tape, but flickering light escaping round the edge kept us awake on the first night. A call to H.O.L led to the light being disconnected. Other bulbs in this system don't appear to be working- a full safety check tis needed. 4. Logs We enquired about supply of Logs and were given a number by H.O.L. On ringing we found that the man had retired. He gave us a number for for maintenance who supplied us with logs. The number is NOT the one given in the H.O.L. book. 5 Dustbins The H.O.L book contains one page saying bins are collected on Wednesday and another one saying Thursday. 6. H.O.L Book. The text in this book needs revising and updating

We love this property, it was so quirky. The bedrooms are SO comfortable, bathrooms very modern; instant hot water every time. The property was immaculately clean throughout. The layout of the large living room was so user friendly for 3 generations - the photos on the web site do not do this room justice - it is so much better. Also very well supplied with games, jigsaw, local maps etc. The kitchen is well equipped with good quality utensils, there was nothing that it lacked and we cooked all 7 nights. Ben, the logman, made 2 deliveries for us, each time within the hour. Sykes were very helpful when we had a power cut due to the windy storms and they kept us informed of the situation. The only thing I would have liked to see was the history of this lovely old house. There must be so many stories it could tell. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this lovely comfortable property. We loved it. Elaine

  • "High Lindeth was exactly as expected and we loved its quirkiness with the upstairs lounge and the down stairs kitchen, the latter being at the other end of the long property."

This reflected the cottage and barn conversion of years ago. Whilst the property was presentable we are not sure that the property had been deep cleaned. This was due to the fact we had additional and unwanted guests - Mice. Whilst we are country folk and live in a semi rural location so are faced with this pest regularly, we did not expect them in the lounge - the beige light coloured sofa had many mice dirts on it and it looked like they were nesting in it. In addition they had meals from Xmas presents around the tree. Similarly, in the kitchen where they ran amok and whilst we left very little uncovered, if we did, we paid the price. We had to clean the work surfaces every day and cover all cutlery at night to stop them going all over them and make sure everything was spotless. Would we rent the property again - Yes without hesitation.

Dear Mr Hooper, thank you for your comments. This is really helpful and we take feedback like this very seriously. The visitors are Voles and we have taken immediate action to deal with their unwanted presence. We have have taken measures and will check them every day and will continue until the problem stops. We really do look forward to welcoming you back to High Lindeth. Best wishes, the owner. Property Owner

We were a party of 8 on a much needed break. There is plenty of room to take yourself off and have your own space, very important for us. The dogs were in heaven, footpath at the side of the property if you don’t want to venture out with the car. We were unfortunate to catch the end of storm Arwen, trees down around and when we got there no electric on still. We had logs in the car so lit the fires and were assured it would come on in a couple of hours which it did. The owners couldn’t do enough, checking we were ok and supplying us with logs from the farm. This all added to the adventure!! Would not hesitate to book again, once again thank you to Emma and Christophe.

  • "High Lindeth is a beautiful house, in a beautiful setting."

We stayed there with two dogs, who loved exploring the gardens - the enclosed garden off the kitchen was also very useful for night time toilet trips as it does it get very dark at night! The house was very clean, and met all my expectations. It’s very close to Bowness, a 5 mins drive - or a 30 min walk, although the walk is a little hilly. Luckily enough to be situated walking distance from Henrock which was definitely an added bonus! We were unable to locate any fuel for the fires upon arrival, which the welcome pack says there is, nor able to connect the smart TV to WiFi to access Netflix - these were our only hiccups though, and although we bought and left quite a bit of wood, we didn’t need it in the end as we had surprise glorious weather for our stay! High Lindeth is a really gorgeous place, wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. Thanks!

  • "The images on your website are not up to date."

The gardens whilst left to wilderness are borderline untidy! The sofas in the lounge are tired and uncomfortable. The kitchen is not sufficiently equipped-tin opener doesn’t work, frying pan not suitable for induction and selection of glasses, including tired plastic wine glasses were disappointing. On the plus side the beds were clean and comfortable and the bathrooms excellent. I just didn’t feel the finishing touches were to the standard we normally experience with Lakelovers. Invest a little in the property and it will be delightful. Also note the local pub is popular and you need to book!!

We would like to thank you for your comments. We are so pleased that you found the bedrooms comfortable and the bathrooms excellent. We are sorry to hear that the flower garden did not appeal to you. The garden is mowed once a week however the flower garden is left a little longer in support of the bees and the butterflies. It is of great importance to the owner that the kitchen is kept well equipped so we appreciate you bringing this to our attention for the owner to replenish accordingly. With regards to the photographs, we have taken your comments on board and will be looking into this. We would like to thank you on your feedback once again and we hope to welcome you back to High Lindeth again in the future! Property Owner

Such a spacious home where the whole family can sit together or have a bit of time out. It’s in an absolutely beautiful location and I really wish it was my own home! Couple of things to mention, there’s a wasp nest at the top of the back door in the living room, a lot of wasps getting inside. The fridge mechanism to open it keeps breaking. Also there’s a mouse living in the kitchen, we never saw it but it liked to have a nibble on things during the night. The only other thing is flies in the kitchen, we ended up buying fly spray to deal with them, when it’s such lovely weather you want the door open, but that unfortunately attracted so many flies! Obviously that’s not the owner of the properties fault! That sounds like I’m moaning a bit, but we really aren’t, we absolutely love this property and will 100% will be back again to stay.

It was so lovely to welcome you and your family back to High Lindeth and we are delighted to hear you love the property and surroundings as much as we do. We would like to thank you for bringing to our attention the wasp’s nest by the back door, since your feedback this has been removed for the benefit of future guests and apologies for the inconvenience this will have caused you during your holiday. Also since your departure the fridge door has been repaired and the Dormouse was safely caught and released back into the wild (away from the property). We do our very best to ensure the wildlife that resides in the surrounding countryside stay on the outside of the property and steps have been put into place to prevent any further intrusions of this nature. We do hope to welcome you all back again to High Lindeth in the not too distant future. Property Owner

The house is extremely comfortable and spacious, well equipped and all very clean. We enjoyed the garden too, it was great to watch the kestrels feeding their young in the nest in the gable end. The 4 children all had a fabulous time and didn’t want to leave! 2 tiny niggles - there was no advice on how to control the heating, other than the 2 thermostats - is there no timer? There are various of places to go out for lunch or the facilities in the home are great to cook and dine outside on tables in the grass area.
