The cottage is really comfortable and suited our needs. Our disabled daughter accompanied us and access was good. The double bedroom shower worked better for her than the twin room. All good, we'll come back.

  • "A cracking little cottage, perfect for what I needed."

I spent a very relaxed week here, enjoying the peace and quiet, the sounds of nature immediately outside, and the very well appointed cottage. The cottage had everything I needed, and everything I used worked with no problems. If I had to find a gripe (I always do!!), the cooker hob has been cleaned a bit too vigorously in the past and the markings for which knob controls which ring are now gone, but it's hardly the end of the world! I will gladly stay here again.

  • "Me & my best friend met at Goodenbergh over 15 years ago, and decided to return for a little trip to revisit a place we made so many happy memories in."

The cottage was beautiful, and really lived up to what we had always imagined it was like inside (when we watched it being renovated). It was all nicely furnished & clean when we arrived - with a few little bits to enhance the stay (extra kitchen roll, washing powder etc). One issue with the property was that we found the showers didn't work super well. We couldn't use the showers at the same time, due to one using all the water pressure & one taking all the heat. But we did figure this out after our first full day so it wasn't too much of a problem. We did also have a little issue with an interaction with a staff member on the farm. The two ponies onsite were in the field directly across from us, and while we were sat outside they poked their heads through the fence. We went over to give them a stroke and a lady working the farm shouted at us to 'stop feeding the horses'. Her tone was quite condescending and accusatory, quite frankly. We replied that we weren't feeding them, and she then stated that there were 'carrots all over the field' that morning. Again, we replied that it wasn't us and that we didn't even have any carrots! I think we would have been fine if there was an apology, but it did ruin our evenings a little bit. Every other member of staff we interacted with was lovely and this did not effect our trip too much - just a flag that because we are two young women, we are sure we got the blame solely for this reason. We will absolutely return, hopefully in the summer to try and relive a portion of our six week holidays! Thank you so much for the amazing stay - we can't wait to be back ❤️

  • "Bad points - Hob antiquated, slow to heat and knobs unreadable to select which ring to use."

Rooflights need cleaning. Some doors scrape the tiled floor, irritating. Sink plug in twin room was caked with years of grime and blocking draining so I cleaned it. All ok now. Double Room - Round basin plug doesnt stayed closed. No instructions for washing machine. No instructions of where bins were located. Good points - All very good apart from above.

comfortable and well equipped. The peace and tranquility is wonderful. I was worried about being on a caravan site but this proved groundless as your caravan park is wonderful a true haven. n.b the lights under the kitchen units , some of the bulbs need replacing and the battery in the kitchen scales is missing, other than that everything was perfect. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

  • "We received a very warm welcome on our arrival from the team who were obviously trying their best to pull everything together during staff holiday and illness."

The cottage was ideal for our needs and offered easy access to coastal towns, scenic hill drives, independent museums and specialist food cafes and outlets to name but a few. The team were very easy to contact and our initial teething problems were quickly addressed. The accommodation is in a very quiet location and I felt the cottage offered an ideal opportunity to relax. The site offers a charming Woodland Walk with an associated quiz leaflet suitable for all ages to help the understanding of the nature that surrounds the cottage. The novelty of having quietly grazing horses, ponies, the lama and (“Houdini” the forever escaping) goat visible from our cottage windows offered delightful daily distraction. On days we want to dine at home, the kitchen was well equipped to allow me to offer a respectable meal and the en-suite bedrooms have comfortable beds, very spacious wardrobe hanging and drawer storage, bedside units and handy drawer storage within the dressing table units. The option of having both bedrooms with separate en-suite facilities allowed my Father to feel he could relax and retire for privacy when he wished if he needed to have time to himself. It was a joy to sit outside the cottage within the enclosed garden area, enjoy the hillside views and watch the variety of bird life and occasional conversations with people walking past. We found plenty to see and do whin easy driving distances of the local area, the green fields, soft hillside valleys and farm animals in fields abound. The lakes are an hours drive away, spectacular scenery of Malham Cove, Hardknott, Wrynose, Eskdale passes and Duddon valley offered gasps around every corner. Local specialist cheese and delicatessen suppliers, artisan ice cream and local cafes and pubs had very amenable staff and local delicacies to satisfy every foodies appetite. A number of Waterfall walks are on offer to suit all abilities, beautiful quaint village architecture is around every corner, streamside picnic spots, cafes, steam train rides, the Lakeland Motor Museum, Lancaster’s Cathedral and Maritime Museum delights await !

Positives - Cottage all on one level; very relaxing and quiet. In the summer there is a lovely place to sit out. In fact we managed to sit out one day as the sun was lovely. Negatives - For someone who's disabled, I did find this cottage hard in that both the showers had a step up of almost 6 inches which, for me was too high and both the toilets were too low. The toilet in the ensuite in the twin bedroom - be careful that you don't bump your head on the cupboard (speaking for experience). Hopefully there will be a new microwave for the next tenants. When we arrived the microwave was broken (we did report it). Not enough side plates or forks. No extra toilet rolls or soap and shower gel - or are we just spoilt by other owners of cottages we've stayed at. For groceries there is a co-op in Bentham and in Kirby Lonsdale there is a shop. In my opinion a Country Park Shop selling milk and bread would be an added extra to the site, which was very clean and well kept.
