  • "When we arrived, we were disappointed with the condition of the property."

There was a bad smell when we walked in, and it didn’t have a fresh scent, which gave us a poor first impression. After our long journey, we wanted to rest, but there were no covers on the bed. We had to request bedding from customer service, and instead, we found dirty bedding from the last guests left in the bathroom, which seemed unprofessional. While trying to put on new bedding, we noticed a bad smell in the bedroom. When we were doing this, we found mold on the bed frame, which likely caused the smell. Because of this, we had to keep the door and windows open in the cold to let in some fresh air. The cleanliness fell short of expectations, as the floors appeared not to have been vacuumed thoroughly, and there was a general lack of attention to detail throughout. We hope these issues can be addressed to enhance the experience for future guests.

Dear Mrs Akter, We are extremely sorry that the flat had not been cleaned before your arrival. In the ten years we have been letting the flat, this is the first time this has happened. Our cleaner is very good and very conscientious and extremely reliable but on this occasion a breakdown in communication occurred and she did not know that the flat had been in use over the weekend and would therefore need a clean on the Monday for you. We understand that fresh linen was delivered later the day of your arrival but you declined a clean. Our cleaner would have been there straight away had she known but she wasn’t informed until mid the following day. We are also surprised to read your comments regarding smells and mould. We are at the flat regularly and have not been aware of either but will undertake a thorough check. Please accept our apologies but we hope despite this, you enjoyed your stay at Fir Howe. • "We enjoyed a perfect week's holiday at Fir Howe."

The property is pristine, extremely comfortable and very well-equipped. We hardly couldn't have asked for more!!! We found all the furnishings sooo comfortable - king-size bed, settee, wide armchair, and even the dining table and chairs! The kitchen has everything you need (... well, except maybe a salad spinner :-D); large fridge-freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washer-dryer. The location is wonderful, with many varied walks from the doorstep and, just as importantly, a short walk (or shorter drive) to the local pub! Skelwith Bridge is lovely and just on the edge of the hugely impressive Langdales. We were so busy we didn't even get to use the pool and sauna, which was the only shame. And it was always a pleasure to return to this home-from-home at the end of each day. 10 out of 10, can't wait to stay again.

  • "Comfortable apartment in very quiet location with wildlife."

We found the kitchen well equipped for our needs. There is no shop on site or nearby, so a pint of milk and small welcome pack would have been nice; we'd done our research and were aware if this. Some people had arranged supermarket deliveries. Due to the conifer trees on site, the apartment is very dark and we often had to put lights on during the day in June. There are loads of walks from the doorstep - were out on the fells a lot of the time, so this didn't detract from our enjoyment of a lovely break.

  • "The property is ideal for couples, our only issue was that we could hear the people next door and below us as the walls aren't very thick - we would have loved to re-book again for next year but the price was too high as the cost had risen by over a £100 for the same time of year."

Thank you for your feedback. The property is priced appropriately in comparison to other similar ones. Our properties are marketed with inflation in mind and as you booked in 2022 there will be a greater marked difference in comparing your prices to those of 2024. • "Property was advertised with a swimming pool."

My wife is pregnant and we were intending to make use of this. The pool was closed and looked like it had been for a while (I may be wrong), we did not receive any prior notification before arrival that this was the case, would have gone elsewhere. The apartment itself was all good, clean, tidy and really well equipped so a lovely place to stay.

Thank you for your comments. We are sorry to hear that you were unable to use the swimming pool during your stay, and the on-site facilities are run by a separate company to us.
