  • "Beautiful cottage but not great to get to our 1st night was freezing in there ..."

Beautiful cottage but not great to get to our 1st night was freezing in there and the heating in the front bedroom didn’t work either we sat with our coats on all night the next evening someone came and brought us 2 heaters which worked well so second night was fine then our last night we had a power cut so we had nothing couldn’t even contact anyone as no phones no internet nothing so the house was beautiful but a bit of a nightmare holiday for us

Thank you for your review, we are glad you found the house beautiful, however we are sorry to hear about the heating problems. Unfortunately the power cut was out of our hands. Property Owner

  • "This was our 4th stay at Brooklands, always one of our favourite holidays."

The location is perfect, once parked up we didn't move the car for the week. We had perfect weather too for walking each day. Comfortable and warm, well equipped with everything we needed. Will be interested to see what the little building next to the cottage becomes .....We did think the property was pet free, however did suspect there had been doggies in the cottage.......I was sorry to see that we are already too late to book again for 2023 - already booked out for the year! Hopefully we will be back in 2024. A wonderful cottage!

  • "Brooklands is an idyllic cottage in the woods."

Only a short walk from Little Langdale but has a lovely remote and quiet feel about it. There is an abundance of wildlife in the woods; we had deer and red squirrel in the garden on several occasions. The cottage is well equipped and has everything you need. Great walks off the doorstep and great food and drink available at the Three Shires Inn which is 10 mins walk away.

  • "Stunning cottage in a truly tranquil location."

The cottage is extremely comfortable and tastefully furnished to a very high standard. Everything has been provided for, even down to the finer details such as food for the bird feeder in the garden, ensuring our feathered friends keep returning ! Also an unexpected gift pack greeted us on arrival, which was both thoughtful and most welcome. The location is perfect for a peaceful retreat, right at the heart of the beautiful Little Langdale valley, with plenty of wildlife and numerous walks on the doorstep. A thoroughly enjoyable stay at this beautiful property, thank you !

  • "Fabulous property- very well equipped warm and cosy."

Only small gripe was lack of a dustbin, the outside bin was not down the track as the information said, so took bin bag to recycling centre

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
