  • "Copper Beech is a lovely cottage set in a terrific area."

Views from the Hot Tub were great to relax with and the beds were comfortable and all the kitchen utensils we could have wanted. Easy access to the Lakes but in a secluded scenic area if we wanted to relax at the cottage for a day. We will come back to Copper Beech again. Thanks

We will 100% be returning. We have never had a more relaxed weeks break. Even though it took 9hrs to get there and 8hrs to return home to South Wales - it was all very well worth it! Lovely owners, massive expanses of land to explore and wildlife on tap - the kids and the dog loved it! As said, we will 100% return for another wonderful stay. We have even discussed making it an annual thing!

  • "We had a brilliant weekend at copper beech cottage, just what we needed, if you're looking for somewhere that s really away from it all, this is the place, after a very stressful 6 months at work, we booked this due to location, fairly near to Coniston, but sounded completely away from it all (it s both , just what we wanted) This is one of the most remote locations we have ever stopped at, without being that far away really, fairly near the Wilson arms at Torver or pubs /cafes at Coniston if you don't want to cook."

Be aware the single-track lane at night when you first arrive is an experience, that is for sure, i would advise getting there in day light if at all possible. But once there , if you've got good weather , the setting the cottage is in , is second to none , absolutely magical place , we only stopped 3 nights , i can only imagine it relax s you more as time goes on ,if you stay longer , sat out Sunday morning in the gleaming sunshine with that view , the only sound being the river and pheasants , totally what the doctor ordered , if you wanted you could get your weeks shopping in beforehand , and have an amazing week , in the garden / hot tub with walks from the door , never moving the car .(and hardly seeing anyone) however, we had the old man of Coniston to climb Sunday, meeting family, perfect blue skies, meant the view from the top was totally breathtaking, over to the isle of man, Morecambe Bay, right down to the Yorkshire dales, and over to scafell pike /scafell the other way, equally as stunning the stary night sky view, including shooting star from the hot tub that night after a decent Sunday dinner at the Wilson arms beforehand. Yes, a great day. really enjoyed the stay, thank you, already planning to go again

It may be down a very long and narrow lane, but that’s what remote is, right! With views and walks on your doorstep and the only noise that of the river, it’s perfect! Beds and facilities super comfy. Baths in both rooms (and very modern at that), amenities spot on (even down to bath robes for the hot tub and extra towels). We wanted for nothing. • "It is not clear in the advert for the cottage that it is attached to another cottage."

There was an awful urine smell in the bathroom for the bedroom straight ahead when you you walk in the cottage. My husband believes there maybe a problem with the pipe work, the smell comes and goes. The carpet needs replacing through out, the dressing gown had holes in all, all 4 need replacing, very old and tatty, no real information pack, just a small folder with basis info. Hot tub lovely, location fabulous but cottage not up to standard.

Many thanks for your feedback. It is a great shame that you did not contact the owner/caretaker during your stay as the owners pride themselves on giving every guest a fabulous stay as you can see from previous feedback. I am sure that you will appreciate they are unable to assist a guest if they are not made aware of any problem. The description of the property does not state that it is detached, but it mentions that it is close to the other property on site ( and has a barn in between the properties). Nobody has reported a smell in the bathroom before or since your stay, but the owner will certainly check this. The carpet was replaced 3 years ago and is regularly professionally cleaned and the dressing gowns have all been replaced in the last few weeks therefore it may be that the old ones were placed in the property by accident but this could have been resolved straight away if you had called. The information pack was scaled back due to Covid but we appreciate your comments. Property Owner

Two double bedrooms downstairs and ensuite bathrooms with bath/showers. Hot tub overlooking the hills is the key feature! Easy access to walks around the area. Dog friendly, though there are a lot of sheep around so keep on the lead. Sky TV for evenings and relaxing, if you need it. Wood burner for a nice fire if it gets cold, but central heating as well. Beware the 2 mile single track road up to the cottage, tricky if you have a modern big-ish car, with few passing points if you encounter someone coming the other way. Wifi is available but patchy & mobile signal varies based on network. Overall, excellent. Great for a get-away-from-it-all break. Sunset in hot tub overlooking the hills is an experience not to be missed.

Mum dad and me with the labrador. We loved the walks straight from the cottage and the hot tub was amazing. What a perfect location for it - views of the hills all around. You cant predict the weather but the cottage was great. I would have liked updated washing machine and dishwasher as they were a little tired and no instructions so you had to guess what programme to put them on. Sky TV was great and the new addition of wifi was unexpected but much needed as you can then sit at home and plan your day. We did Blencathra and the local Coniston water lake walk. We also went to Stavelely and visited the artisan bakery, amazing Wheelbase bike shop and Hawkshead brewery. We tried the local pub the Wilsons Arms and had fish and chips outside in the garden with the dog. Would have stayed much longer had it not been for my work. I'd go again in a heartbeat.

  • "We found the cottage comfortable and clean except for a couple of of oven/roasting trays which had been put away without cleaning."

There were ony four bowls which for a cottage sleeping 4 meant constant washing up, even between meals! The towel rails in the ensuites didn't seem to heat up sufficiently even though the rest of the house was very warm, meaning it felt rather damp in bathrooms most of the time, a shower scraper would be helpful in here too. There were no instuctions for cooker, coffee maker, TV or dishwasher. Cottage location was lovely and peaceful.

  • "We had a great time here!"

We planned to use the hot tub, but then didn't as we were too busy! There is plenty of space near the cottage for dog walking. If I'd had more time I would have worked out a route from the cottage to Coniston and back again. The log burner is great and heats the cottage nicely (our dog loved it). There is plenty of parking space too. We struggled with the electric cooker at the cottage, but that was mostly because we've only ever used gas and didn't manage the heat properly. I think a few other people have mentioned the lack of Internet connectivity as a problem. It mostly makes planning your days out a bit harder as you need either an abundance of written material or you need to plan in advance. More local information in the cottage would be great. There do appear to be phone sockets in the cottage, so maybe the lack of connectivity is either a choice or the cottage is too far from the local exchange for ADSL. My recommendation to others is to go down to one of the local pubs and do your planning there. It's not as good as the comfort as the cottage, but it's okay. Overall, a great short break!

The walks from the cottage across the farmland and common are just spectacular. We had fantastic weather but the cottage is so well heated that even in cold weather you will be cosy and comfortable.
