Location: Sedbergh

Kendal 12 miles; Hawes 15 miles.

Sedbergh (pronounced Sed-Ber), an ancient market town in northern Dentdale, is just inside the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The town, with its narrow streets, little shops, traditional pubs, famous school dating back to 1525 and its 12th Century church, has an olde worlde atmosphere. Dentdale, the jewel of the Yorkshire Dales with its rolling hills and dry stone walls, stretches 14 miles from the windswept moors below Whernside to the confluence of the rivers Dee and Rawthey. At the centre of the dale is Dent, with its cobbled streets, which has existed since Norman times. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, & fishing, and the area is a walker’s paradise. This, together with the tranquillity of the surrounding valleys and the two nearby National Parks, makes an ideal year-round holiday destination.

The location is wonderful, lovely hosts too. Amazing views, very quiet and there are nice eating places nearby.

Miss Pottle, Barnsley, March 2011

Well Sykes have done it again - I am not sure how many of their properties we have stayed in, but they have never failed to achieve expectations. The cottage was excellent, situated within easy reach of North Yorkshire and the Lake District. Sedburg was close by with good eating places and a small supermarket. We spent time looking in all the bookshops in Sedburg and exploring the surrounding area. Ingleton Falls and Dent are interesting places to visit. The owner was very helpful and welcoming. I'm sure we will be back!
Mr & Mrs Peach, Hinckley, October 2010

Lovely cosy cottage in a great location, with walking from the door and fabulous views of the Howgills. Owners very friendly and helpful without being intrusive.
