  • "The lodge was fabulous."

Very cosy and had everything we needed. Host was very welcoming too and even cooked us a fabulous meal. Would definitely recommend.

Thank you very much for your kind words. It’s very much appreciated. I really enjoyed meeting you both. I hope we can welcome you back to The Lake District in not such inclement weather conditions . Regards Trisha Property Owner

  • "ONLY views are of owner's house, as appears to be a converted garage on owner's driveway."

Tiny and dark. Noisy - other side of hedge from very busy A591- not 'nestled in two acres of woodland' as advertised. And to cap it all, no working oven or hob in a self-catering property promising ' electric oven and halogen hob' Owner rude and greedy - told us it had been 'broken for a month'. Told us her 'reasonable alternative' was a single gas camping stove for outdoor use only. Then told us to use oven, DESPITE electrical fault! Even refused when we offered to buy an electrical stove ring from camping shop next day. Said it was in contravention of her insurance. Sykes Cottages employees were at times rude and at no point offered us help. Apparently, your contract is 'with the owner'. Took us a week (in which they issued US with a warning to get legal advice) to get the owner's name and contact details. Have never known greed, incompetence and utter contempt for customers like it. Will circulate this as widely as possible to ensure others don't fall victim to this ruthless, heartless company.
