  • "Great place and welcoming!"

When we arrived, we rung and were greeted by a gent called Phil - he was so welcoming, really laid back. He gave us the choice of two, so although we originally booked for Bracken Barn - we stayed at Sunny Brow Barn (we simply preferred the views + cosines). The view from the kitchen is great to see, lots of sheep, chicken and a real relaxing feel. We were left to our own devices, which was great. The place is super cosy, and the bed!! We wish we could've taken it home with us, super spacious and comfortable. There's a log burner there, with the opportunity for logs and kindling to purchase on site. The place is located in a great area, within 10 minutes to a local town of Hawkshead - and within 30 minutes of lots of great areas. We had hiked Raven Crag and popped to Bourton on Windmere. 4 nights is the perfect amount of time to really explore the local area. I would definitely recommend this place to stay to any future people that are looking for a great place to stay in the lakes. The only reason for giving it 4 stars and not 5 - we both agreed that the place could do with a Hoover to hand - especially after a few days there and with the weather, the floor started to feel like it needed a hoover. A few of the draws in the kitchen needed cleaning as they had crumbs in + there were a few cobwebs about and a pile of dust under the bed. Didn't affect our stay, just some feedback to ever so slightly work on. Definitely would love to return one day. Thankyou for a lovely stay.

  • "We were lead to believe the lady at the house cooked breakfast and evening meals."

Which wasn’t the case. She explained to us she no longer did this x so we weren’t very happy at this because in your advertising it said cooked breakfast and evening meals so you shouldn’t be advertising this

Nice quiet area and local walks/rides right from the front door. Cottage facilities are very good, excellent bed and bathroom shower.

  • "A nice property in a quiet location."

A car is necessary though. No access through the bedroom external door which would have been preferable. Nice, clean and comfortable property, fridge was not working properly but this did not impact our stay. Fantastic shower.

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed the property and all that the area has to offer. Lakelovers Owner Relations Property Owner

HAWKSHEAD

Ambleside 5.1 miles; Kendal 17.4 miles.

The picturesque village of Hawkshead still retains the charm and character that so endeared it to its most famous residents - William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. Visitors can wander the wealth of tiny alleyways, thoroughfares, archways and courtyards between the whitewashed 17th century houses. There are many pleasant inns, teashops, guest houses and gift shops in the village, as well as the Beatrix Potter Gallery, which houses an annually changing exhibition of the famous author’s illustrations and stories. The other famous Hawkshead enthusiast, William Wordsworth, attended the Old Grammar School in 1779-87, which still stands today, and you can visit the building where the Lakeland poet developed his love of the form, and even see the desk into which he scratched his name as a small boy! Newby Bridge is ten miles away and offers attractions such as the Aquarium of the Lakes and Windermere Lake Cruises, sailing daily between Ambleside, Bowness and Lakeside.
