  • "The property was brilliant and suited all our needs."

There was plenty of space, the kitchen was very well equipped to a high standard and we loved the fact that all the bedrooms were en-suite. Beds comfy and showers powerful. Ideal location for both Windermere and Bowness. Would definitely return.

  • "We had great time and the house was fantastic."

Only one bit of feedback would be maybe as we had a small dog she did manage to get into next doors garden once via a decent size hole in the bushes. Other than that it was great!

  • "Lovely clean & tidy period property."

Very well equipped which was great as we cooked a full Sunday roast & there were plenty of pots, pans & utensils. The glasses & crockery were also plentiful. Beds were super comfy & showers hot with plenty of power. Great location for walking into both Windermere & Bowness with lots of great pubs & eateries. We were a 3 generation family staying & this property suited our needs very well. The garden could be a bit more secure as we had 2 dogs with us & they could have got out both through the driveway & the front of the property which leads onto a main road - a small piece of fencing here would do the job. All in all a great week & we would be happy to stay again & recommend.

  • "As we had a dog with us, it would have been nice if the garden was more secure and a gate at the back."

We had an incident where the dog got out and was running up the side road and thankfully into the school where we were able to get her. If a gate was at the back, this would have stopped her getting out. Overall the home was in good condition and cleanliness with just a few cobwebs and spiders inside but nothing too serious.

  • "The house is great for anyone wanting to stay in windermere."

Wouldn't be good if you were in a wheelchair though as up a few hills. The kitchen is beautiful and was very well stocked with cooking items. The oven is really great!! You need to take washing up liquid. The house is a perfect size for 2 families the sitting room is huge!! I found the master bedroom mattress too hard so didn't sleep very well but I know everyone else said they slept well. We found some beautiful walks in the area. Especially the one near the train station ( opposite side of road follow sign posts )at sunset stunning and well worth the hill walk. And Gummers How is amazing!! The only negative comment we have is more Mugs and glasses would be useful. And a BBQ would have made a great addition to the amazing weather we had last week. But obviously we understand why properties don't have them. Although many we have hired have had them.

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed the location of your stay. We will pass all your comments on. We hope to welcome you again soon. The owner relations team - Lakelovers Property Owner

  • "One of the best houses we have stayed in over the past 40 years."

Ideal location, Great size for our family of 8 adults all to have own spaces . Fully equipped in every aspect and everything clean and comfortable including beds. (wine cooler and second fridge ideal for keeping beer). The cooking range is amazing and no shortage of “volunteers “ wanting to use it. The weather was extremely cold during our stay and whilst every other room was warm and cosy unfortunately the lounge was not. The reason for this could be that there had previously been a gas fire in this room that had been removed. The two radiators in the room were not sufficient to heat it as it is an amazingly spacious room. Perhaps the provision of an additional heater for use during colder winter conditions ( Temp during our stay below freezing and lots snow and heavy rain). We still had a very enjoyable week and will return.

Thank your for your kind feedback. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We hope to welcome you back again. Update, Summer 2013, we have now had improved heating installed in the lounge to address the issue mentioned about the room being cold. Thank you again for your helpful feedback. Property Owner

Beautiful and spacious house, with literally everything we needed. The lovely modern kitchen was spotless, and every appliance/glass/plate was immaculate. The bedrooms were very comfortable, and each room having an ensuite was a big bonus. House location is good, on the main road between Windermere and Bowness. A brisk 10 minute walk up to Windermere, or the same down to Bowness. A busy road, but managed this fine with the kids. Stayed for a cold February week, but house was always lovely and warm. Would definitely stay here again, and would highly recommend.

It suited our needs as a family of 8 adults and 2 dogs very well. The rooms were big and comfortable. The Lounge was a bit tired looking and one of the sofas could do with replacing but it didn’t spoil anything. We had 4 cars between us. There are parking spaces for 2 cars but plenty of space on the road outside the house to accommodate any extras. The gardens are not enclosed so dogs need to be on a lead when let out (not a problem for us but others may need to be aware of) The position of the house is perfect… being in between Bowness and Windermere, within walking distance to both offering plenty of eateries when you didn’t want to cook. We would definitely recommend and would stay here again

  • "Brilliant location."

It's half way between windermere and bowness. Very spacious house, you could easily fit 3 families of 3 in the house. The garden is private but not enclosed as there is a path down the side of this house to the parking and drive. Our dogs were fine but if you have a little escape artist you might want to keep a close eye on them. The property has everything you could need. If I was being super, super picky, maybe a couple of small vegetable knifes might be good, but not essential. There isn't a tumble dryer but you really don't need one as your clothes dry very quickly on an airer in front of the hall radiator and there's still plenty of space to get through. If you're looking to stay in winter you'll be nice and snug as the heating system is amazing. The house was lovely and warm when we got there. It was also nice and cool without the heating on too, if you're staying when it's hot. (we had aixture of weather when we stayed) All the beds and bedding are really comfy. We all slept amazingly. Extremely clean. There are signs around the property to tell you how everything works and when the bins go out etc, which was really helpful as everything was to hand. Sound doesn't travel in the house which is really good when you have a toddler that doesn't sleep in past 6 and likes to shout your name at the top of their voice, it didn't wake anyone else up. All bedrooms are big enough to fit a travel cot in (you'd have push the beds together in the twin room to still have a walk way) someone mentioned in a review that the house is a bit dated, the house is exactly as the pictures when we went in May 2022 we didn't think it was dated at all. Our dogs settled really well, which is unusual for a first night when we stay away. We travel to the lakes a lot and this house was just fantastic! We don't normally stay in the same property twice, but this one, we will be coming back again to! Thank you to the owners for providing such a wonderful house.

Dear guest, thank you so much for choosing to stay at Ravenscroft. We're very pleased that you had a lovely stay and grateful that you took the time to write such a positive, comprehensive and helpful review. It always makes letting our house out feel worthwhile when people have such a good time and find things to their liking. We will certainly act upon your suggestion about improving the range of knives available. The washing machine is actually a washer-dryer but we will add some extra instructions nearby about the drying settings. Thanks again and hopefully you'll choose to come back when you next visit the Lake District. Property Owner

  • "Very well located."

The kitchen and dining room were good but other rooms a bit dated as was much of the furniture. It was comfortable for us and our dogs but needs further updating. Main concern was poor cleaning as there was a lot of dust, dog hairs etc. which should not have been there. As owners of two holiday lets ourselves we would be having words with the cleaners.

Dear Guest, thank you for choosing to book your holiday at Ravenscroft and also for the honest and helpful feedback. Our property is cleaned and managed by the LakeLovers team and our two most recent reviews have given cleanliness top marks. However in this instance there was obviously room for improvement and we will be bringing this up with the LakeLovers team to make sure that it is rectified in the future. Once again thank you for your feedback it is really appreciated. Property Owner

  • "It is a lovely property and we had plenty of space especially when some of our party dropped out due to covid."

Its is really well equipped especially the kitchen. The only real negative for me is the lack of curtains in the bedroom. My wife and I were in the double room furthest from the stairs. The blinds in the window at the foot of the bed do not close properly and the sun is on that side of the house in the morning. This made it impossible to sleep in a bit later (as some people like to do on their holidays). I can't speak for the other bedrooms but this one definitely needs heavy/dark curtains at both windows.

Dear Guest, thank you very much for choosing to book Ravenscroft for your holiday and also for the positive feedback about the property. We really appreciate your observations about the light levels in one of the double bedrooms. We've always liked the light in that room but, of course, a nice lie in while on holiday is always appreciated and the sun does stream through the window quite early. We will definitely look into adding some blackout curtains as soon as we can. Property Owner

  • "The shower on the top floor was v tricky to use, no other water could be running in the whole house in order for this shower to be barely adequate."

It needs updating. The Wi fi was very hit and miss on the top floor, needs an extender. The grill pan had not been cleaned, a shame as the remaining oven an hob was spotless. A hoody had been left in the hall and an empty mop bucket in the lounge. The position of the property v good for both Windermere and Bowness.

Dear Mr Greenbank, thank you for your feedback. We hope that you had a good week staying at Ravenscroft. We have taken onboard your comments and we have tested the showers on the first floor and can attest that all three can be running at once. However, we will investigate any improvements that we can make to the shower in the top bedroom. With regards to the specifics mentioned about certain aspects of cleanliness (mop bucket, hoody and grill pan), please accept our apologies for those isolated issues. Ravenscroft is managed by Lakelovers and having spoken to them we feel sure that these are isolated incidents and certainly not indicative of the usual high standards. We thank you once again for bringing this to our attention and hope to see you again in the future. Property Owner

The house is large and airy with plenty of space for everyone, with a well equipped kitchen. All what you would want and need for a self catering holiday. We had 2 dogs with us so garden was a bonus but it was not fully enclosed. No gate onto the main road and other access was into parking at the back of the house which was not ideal. But overall would highly recommend recommend.

Dear Guest, thank you very much for choosing to stay at Ravenscroft for your holiday and also for your helpful feedback. We have now had a front gate made by a local blacksmith and will look to make further improvements in the future. Property Owner
