  • "A lovely modern cottage."

Clean. Everything we could have wished for. It was lovely to have a washing machine with persil left in case we decided to do some washing. Toilet paper, foil, sugar, tea bags, cooking oil, dishwasher tablets, hand soap, washing up liquid etc all little things but helped altogether to make it a relaxing stress free stay. Pleased we booked.

  • "The house is beautiful, clean and well maintained and everything was as listed."

We arrived to a warm and clean home, with everything we needed for a relaxing weekend break. There was a bottle of Wine and Welsh cakes waiting for us, along with tea, coffee and sugar. It's really helpful having things like cleaning supplies, toilet roll and foil in the cupboards. We always bring our own as most home don't supply them, and always comment on the homes that do-these little extra touches don't go unnoticed. Our two dogs enjoyed exploring the grounds, which were fenced off so they couldn't get out-they even have dog bowls and a cleaning area for pets. Every little thing is thought of and catered for. We gave 5* and top scores in all areas, for a perfect stay in a beautiful area. Thank you Steve and Louise for making our weekend break so easy! Your hard work and attention to detail shows in the beautiful, inviting home you keep. Sarah, Russ and the pooches Cobi and Buckley.

  • "The Larches is perfectly located in a rural woodland setting."

It is warm, cosy and the decor is tasteful. It has everything you need for a relaxing, self catering holiday. I went Christmas week, the weather was not good but I was happy to stay in and enjoy the view of the tall woodland trees swaying in the gusting wind. The house would be perfect for any season. Also, the owners are lovely and helpful.

Perfect for our dogs. So remote which is what we wanted. Loads of lovely walks all around. Will recommended to others but not before we have rebooked for ourselves first!

  • "An outstanding new build house in a very peaceful, almost isolated, wooded location."

Very private, the silence truly is golden and a very welcome retreat from the normal hustle and bustle. The owners have created a very well considered property which is well equipped. Do make sure visit the amazing Stokesay Castle (really a fortified Manor House) and Powis Castle and its superb gardens.

About the location

CLUN

Bishop's Castle 6 miles; Ludlow 18 miles.

A.E. Houseman's poem, A Shropshire Lad, defined Clun as 'the quietest place under the sun', and with its dramatic ruin of a Norman castle, Saxon church, the bustling river which flows under the 14th century pack horse bridge, and a country inn, Clun is a rural gem situated in the South Shropshire Hills. It lies on the Shropshire Way in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty close to the border of Wales, an area known as The Marches. This unspoilt part of Britain has an abundance of wildlife and beautiful unhindered walking and cycling routes winding their way through the countryside with the Clun and Kerry Forests, Offa's Dyke, and Kerry Ridgeway all close by. There are a wide range of festivals and shows on offer in the surrounding area throughout the year, including The Green Man festival in May. From Clun, you can also enjoy exploring the historic towns of Bishop's Castle, Presteigne, Ludlow, Shrewsbury, and Hereford, a must for visitors.
