"Smashing, lovely, delightful welcoming place!"
A suntrap with a gorgeous and safe garden (lots of football matches). Wonderful old beams everywhere (some quite low, and the Dads bashed their heads. Short drive from beach, mountains, castle and mines (recommend the cafe at the Llanfair slate mines, which has a peerless view). I'm a medieval architecture nut, and it isn't 'a traditional 14th century semi-detached farmhouse' (as listed on Sykes) but is a fine old building nevertheless in an area full of fine old buildings. Please note that the fridge is a little small for 8, if you are the type to plan home cooking ahead, so bring cool bags.

Only slight issue, is if you are over around 5’5” you will have to duck for some beams and doorways.

"A lovely cottage in a lovely area with a welcome pack including cakes & milk on arrival, the friendly owner communicated prior and during our stay."
One of the main reasons for us booking the cottage was it because it came with a games room, ie Pool, darts & table Tennis, although there wasn’t a table tennis table which was advertised.
The only other thing I would mention was some of the towel’s ideally could do with replacing.
But even with the 2 comments above I would give it a 9/10.
Thank you for the feedback!
New towels have arrived today.
We shall email Sykes to update the content of the games room. We had to make it slightly smaller which resulted in the table tennis table being removed.

When we arrived we were blown away, spotlessly clean and the garden much bigger than we thought, the kids played football from the minute they woke up until bedtime!! We ventured out most days but we booked here for peace and quiet which (other than the kids) we got! All facilities were perfect including the downstairs bedroom for my mother. The location of Gwrtheyrn is really quiet and peaceful, perfect for just "getting away from it all and recharging the batteries". Surrounding the cottage are fields with sheep, cows and calves and some lovely walks.
The scenery is stunning, hills and mountains in every direction. We watched a spectacular sunset one evening and even heard owls. The garden was beautiful ans our grandchildren loved the playground and used it everyday. It was an added bonus to our stay.
The cottage is a real home from home and fully equipped with everything you could possibly ask for. Gwrtheyrn is ideally situated as a base to visit North Wales and the Lleyn Peninsula. We can't wait to come back and stay again. Thank you so much. Val, Wokingham, Berkshire.

"We have just returned from our wonderful holiday staying at Gwrtheyrn - 4 adults, 1 x 5 year old and 11 month old baby."
The cottage is wonderfully quaint being so old (14th Century) with very deep window sills, original beams and other quirky features. Gwenith was wonderful and we were greeted with tea, coffee, milk and Free From cookies and jam tarts to cater for those with nut and dairy allergies in our family. Gwenith had provided a brand new travel cot with substantial mattress and an Ikea high chair which was very easy to clean and disinfect. It is a brilliantly situated cottage being on or next door to the family farm with sheep and cattle. It was so peaceful yet wonderfully well placed to go to Harlech, Barmouth, other local towns and not too far to visit Conwy, Portmeirion and other places of interest. It didn't matter to us at all that the games room wasn't open even though we were initially looking forward to using it. We went well equipped with our own games and had some memorable evenings with much laughter but generally were a little earlier to bed than usual as we were up early with the children. Our 5 year old granddaughter loved the playground which she used many times. Gwenith was on hand to quickly answer any questions we might have. My husband and I chose to have the ground floor twin room with en suite shower which was superb. We'd love a large, walk in shower like that with seat. Ideal for anyone who is disabled but wonderful for anyone else ,like us. There was a constant supply of really hot water too. We were very organised and took a lot of home from home items, Tupperware, sandwich bags, kitchen towel and other practical things and lacked for very little. Thank you Gwen for a most enjoyable stay and we would highly recommend this cottage to anyone for a perfect holiday.

The cottage is beautiful. The public footpath to the beach wasn't accessible as it ran across a field with a bull in it but the cottage owner was really helpful about alternative routes and it obviously wasn't their fault the bull was there :-)
The cottage was charming - just fascinating. Kitchen well equipped, lots of DVDs and games. The games room was so much fun and we used it nearly every night. Would be great fun to add a blackboard scoreboard in there for family holidays actually? Just a thought to add to the competitive spirit that we all enjoyed.

The home baked cake was a perfect welcome to this immaculate , characterful cottage which was very well equipped . The games room provided entertainment for adults and children whilst others were preparing meals or packing for days out . It is in a beautiful setting and not far from a variety of activities for all ages . We highly recommend Barmouth beach which has dog friendly areas close to the sea front , and Greenwood Forest Park . A climb up to the summit of Snowdon is a must for those who are able and whilst four adults in our group did this, we took our grandchildren to a petting zoo ten minutes away from the cottage so a good day all round . North Wales has a lot to offer and this cottage was a fabulous place to stay .

We was welcomed with an amazing Victoria sponge cake, there was also milk, tea, coffee, dishwasher tablets & all washing products which was a great addition. The location is beautiful with views to die for all around. There were 4 adults & 3 children and there was plenty of space with a lovely garden, the Games room is a great addition which was a big factor in renting this property but we very rarely used it (best time would have been in the evening when the children was a sleep but it is not attached to the house). The Kitchen had more utensils then you could wish for which we made the most of baking cakes with the children. Every evening we walked the dog to a beach over the cattle field & Sand Dunes in peace and quiet.
Overall we had a fantastic time & if visiting North Wales again we would definitely be staying here. Thank you so much :)
