"We spent a lovely week at this sweet little cottage with our lovely hosts making sure we were settled in and were always there if needed."
There was an array of delicious fresh goodies to welcome us. The area was very quiet with beautiful views over the rolling hills and woodland and there were pretty walks along the footpath by the river and around their fields for our spaniel Olwen. On one day it rained heavily so we stayed in the cottage and watched the various birds, squirrels and sheep from the window. The colours of the trees were changing on a daily basis. We would definitely visit again and highly recommend a stay for people wanting a quiet, rural, country autumn break.

The cottage is so comfortable and has everything you need and the owners Jane and Ian are very friendly and helpful, if there's anything you need you only have to ask.
It's lovely to sit and watch all the wild birds on the feeder and there's even a visiting pheasant or two.
They also have 3 Jacob sheep in a field which come up to the fence to have their heads stroked.
It's so quiet and peaceful and at night there's no light pollution so the millions of stars can be seen quite easily.

"What a find!"
We've just returned from a weeks stay at this beautiful cottage. The hosts, Ian and Jane are very friendly and helpful. They are very busy people but will always take time to answer any questions we had.
The setting is fantastic with wonderful views of the Welsh countryside. There are animals on site, some rare breed Jacobs Sheep a couple of pigs and some chickens and ducks. The wildlife in the area, especially the bird life, is plentiful and is great to sit back and watch their antics on the bird table.
The River Cain runs through the site and I was lucky enough to catch my first ever Grayling along with 2 trout and lots of minnows.
The cottage is spotless and has everything you might need, or want, for your stay. There is a small shop onsite selling their own bacon, sausages and eggs. Some other basics are available.
As well as the cottage there is also a Tepee and a Yurt, a Cabin and 2 pitches for tents. Across the road there are a number of tent pitches for wild camping.
3 pubs in the nearest village, a Spar and a Morrisons petrol station/supermarket. There is also a café, a chippy and an Indian.
Easy travelling to various points of interest in the area.
Will we be back? Absolutely. Cannot recommend The Old Beams at Pont-Y-Forwyn highly enough.
Thank you Ian and Jane for a very relaxing stay.

Lovely cosy and warm. Hosts Ian and Jane very easy to talk to and it was nice to hear about the projects they are taking on to make a lovely experience for their guests. Despite the weather Nell loved going in the river which meandered round the land and continued round the hosts other parcel of land across the B road . It is important to look and listen when crossing this road as traffic does travel quite fast round the bend. It was lovely to see the areas designated to the planting of trees on this land and each being marked with a bird name plate such as Kingfisher and Heron, both spdcies of birds being seen in the area around the river.

The cottage is well equipped with everything needed for your stay with a welcome pack of bread, butter, milk, eggs, etc. They also leave a doggy welcome pack which is a nice touch but the icing on the cake is the chocolates left on the bed. "From arrival to departure of The Old Beams everything was excellent."
Every detail was perfected in the cottage. The kitchen had everything we needed and more! The bed was insanely comfy, the bedroom curtains kept all the light out, there was a hanging rail to store clothes and a hairdryer provided! The bathroom was beautifully equipped with everything you would need for a stay here, there was a little box with shampoo, conditioner, cotton pads, makeup wipes, soap and sanitary products which We thought was an excellent touch.
Ian was the best host, he was friendly and knowledgeable, and the site was beautiful! On arrival there was a goodie bag for our dog with treats, dental chews and poo bags in which was so lovely, and dog blankets in the chest of drawers! We also had a freshly baked loaf of bread, 4 home made cakes, eggs from their chickens, milk and butter all waiting for us! There is a small kitchenette on site for the few campers which they sell items at for a great price with an honesty box, like home made jams, chutneys and eggs from their chickens! They also had the most friendly pigs opposite the house which gladly disposed of any leftovers and we spent lots of time tickling their bellies!
We cannot wait to book again, and enjoy some wine in the sunset shack , overlooking the lovely views and sunset.
Thanks so much for having us, 11 out of 10!
