  • "The cottage was wonderful, very cosy and with well chosen furnishings."

Everything was to a high standard. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was great. The only thing that could make it better would be a microwave! Location is beautiful and we enjoyed watching deer in the garden.

Thank you for your valuable feedback, we’re so glad you had an enjoyable stay! We have now added a microwave to the barn. Hope to see you again sometime - Stu & Jess Property Owner

  • "We have had a wonderful stay!"

We really appreciated all the lovely furnishings and facilities - everything had obviously been chosen and placed with great care and taste. The bed was sumptuous, the furniture was comfortable, the crockery a delight to use, and the ornaments, pictures, plants, books and shades enhanced this beautiful cottage. We had easy access to miles and miles of quiet lanes for cycling and appreciated the lockable shed at the cottage. Local amenities included a well-stocked and nearby shop, a great Fish and Chip shop and a welcoming Chinese Restaurant.Thank you so much for a lovely holiday!

This is a really lovely place to stay with high quality fixtures and fabrics, Comfy bed and comfy pillows Clean, and bright and would be ideal to stay in the summer as well as there’s a large garden and private courtyard it was a bit cold to sit outside this time but there was cushions and blankets if we wanted to Close to the beach, with a 10 minute walk away The welcome pack was good with fruit, milk and bread and homemade Jam The owners are so nice and helpful and nothing was too much trouble We would come back again Thank you

  • "Lovely place to stay, very well equipped, immaculate and a real home from home."

Would love to revisit in the summer to make use of the outdoor space too. Only downside was lack of local amenities - the only pub within walking distance was in need of some TLC and the fish and chip shop was closed until Feb! However, the beach and coastline path was exceptional and we never tired of using it. Very special.

The property

The Little Hay Barn is a rustic barn conversion nestled within the grounds of a Grade II-listed 16th-century manor house, just a stroll away from the beach in Bacton, Norfolk.

Perfect for a couple, small family, a solo traveller, or even friends due to the zip/link bed, this holiday home hosts all the home comforts you need, while offering a private entrance and an idyllic base from which to explore this scenic area.

As you step inside, you will find the perfect balance of character and contemporary throughout the property, with original features, such as exposed beams, and stylish touches including plenty of plants, signature pieces, and a gorgeous terracotta kitchen.

The kitchen boasts all the appliances you need to rustle up delicious dinners, with a dining table for two providing a space to enjoy your meals.

From here, cosy up in front of the woodburning stove with a film on the TV, or in the warmer months, make the most of the picture-perfect gardens, with furniture and a lawn space to utilise.

Lovely and private, not overlooked by any buildings, yet with a view of three charming, 16th-century, thatched and listed properties, one of which is a Norfolk Flint cottage; the garden is a delightful space with a true immersion into the area's rich architectural history.

Back inside and up the stairs, the character continues, with décor paying homage to The Little Hay Barn’s previous life as a hay barn and a vintage vinyl record player; the super-king-size bed invites you to rest your head, while the en-suite, with a door made from reused original floor boards, provides a space to freshen up an prepare for your day.

Surrounded by wonderful trees, shrubs and garden areas, this holiday home is a bit of a wildlife haven, and also ideal for walkers and water sports fans alike, due to its close proximity to the beach.

When you’re in the mood for an evening tipple or meal out, you can find a handful of pubs, such as Poachers Pocket, The Lighthouse Inn Walcott, and many more in the seaside town of Mundesley, or inland in the market town of North Walsham.

Other towns and villages worth mentioning are Overstrand, Aylsham, a little further afield, Cromer and Sheringham, the latter a delight for golfers and steam train enthusiasts.

Of course, a trip to Norfolk wouldn’t be complete without a visit to The Broads National Park - another perfect destination for lovers of natural beauty.

With so much to see and do in the area, enjoy a stunning base at The Little Hay Barn.
