  • "We enjoyed our spring short break at the Shack."

The cabin has lots of character and was easy to find with the directions provided. The location is amazing so close to the long beautiful sandy beach. Our dog enjoyed walking from the cabin and the ample garden. It was a bit chilly during our stay but the electric heaters soon warmed up. Some guidance on how to use them would be helpful. The cabin is well equipped with everything needed for cooking during our stay. Lots of great places to visit nearby Horsey Gap grey seals colony was incredible.

  • "Lovely Shack but nightmare to get down the lane that was flooded lucky for us we have an suv so we could just about to get through if you have normal car you'd have a serious problem."

Obviously this will happen in the winter and we did have an enormous amount of rain and with Norfolk being flat there is nowhere for the water to drain. The hut was very cold when we arrived and it took us sometime to figure out the electric heating as never used it before. Once on it was fine. Lovely transformation of the shack and great size garden. Note it is very dark in winter and no street lights. There was an outside light but it didn't work and I walked into the garden bench when dog went for a wee. Also no cupboard to store dry food and washing machine has no dryer so difficult to try and dry your clothes plus also difficult to get soap powder in the despenser as it doesn't pull out far enough in the unit. Beach is very close by so great for your dog. As my brother lives in North Walsham we know the area very well and it's great to explore. The beds were very comfortable .

  • "We stayed in the Shack from the 1st to the 5th of February."

This is a really cute place to stay and amazingly situated for the beach. We were a party of 4 adults and 2 dogs so the enclosed garden was perfect. Beds were clean and comfortable, kitchen well equipped. On the downside there are no mirrors in the bedrooms, and as my friend sat on a dining chair it collapsed under her, luckily she wasn't hurt. Check in was 4pm which is quite late I think. Some areas hadn't been cleaned, behind the TV was a huge dusty and thick cobweb. I think this little shack is probably better suited for 2 as there isn't much storage so you could use the second bedroom for that. It has some lovely quirky touches and is in a lovely location, on the whole would probably visit again in the future

  • "What an amazing little place!"

We had the most amazing trip. The shack is beautiful and the location is perfect. We are 2 adults and our teenage son and the place was great size for the three of us and our 3 dogs. The beach (picturesque) and rural location for us was everything we wanted from our short trip. We went for dinners at local pubs (the star inn was our favourite) locals were super friendly and helpful. Norwich city centre was also a dream, we visited the Norwich market and strolled down elm hill, we also visited an antiques stores located in the church (stunning). Happisburgh lighthouse is also beautiful and well worth a visit. Our 3 dogs thoroughly enjoyed the large secure garden and the beach on our doorstep for their walks. Owners are quick to respond if needed aswell. Overall one of the best uk trips we have had and we are very grateful to John and Carly for having us.

  • "A lovely little place to stay, and what more could you ask for a beach on your doorstep, so cleverly designed to provide so much in there in such a small space , very quirky little accommodation which suits its name, only thing we felt would be nice would be a full length mirror or at least a mirror in each bedroom, but this didn’t spoil our stay at all , the benefit of having an enclosed garden for our little dog was lovely, also even though you are surrounded by neighbours everyone was so sociable and friendly, we enjoyed our lovely morning and late evening walks along the beach, and if your lucky you may see the seals."

Would definitely recommend and hope to visit again at some point .

..wished I could buy one .. But for now happy to return.. The whole place was perfect garden great size for dogs.. plus walks on beach all year round ... I should say it was awful...just to make sure it is available for when I want to return ... Well done to the owners..you have done a great job .I bought a child gate with me to make sure dogs kept out of bedrooms which I do at home, maybe one there would be a good idea ..

  • "Fantastic location, the shack is a little on the smaller side but comfortably fitted 2 children and 2 adults with 1 small dog."

Garden is dog friendly and a good size, the location alone makes this worth a visit if looking for a lovely dog friendly beach or just a beach break with the family. The beach is beautiful and within 1 minutes walk so no need to drive out and pay for expensive parking. Beds were exceptionally clean however some of the kitchen utensils could have done with cleaning, although not a big deal to wash!! Could not get hot water working in the kitchen. Overall a fantastic stay and would recommend.

  • "Whilst we cannot fault the location we feel several things are lacking, ie: no mirrors in bedrooms, no wine glasses, no cafetière, no cupboard space for groceries."

With regard to cleanliness food left in the freezer, drawers obviously hadn’t been cleaned ( food crumbs)

  • "Brilliant week in the shack."

Loved the quirkiness and the top quality fixtures and fittings. Knew it was a short walk to the beautiful beach but didn't know before going that actually it's less then 4 minutes walk to it! It was so peaceful and so sandy. Amazing that dogs are allowed all year through. They enjoyed the enclosed garden also. Beds very comfy and great smart TV which we had to use more then we wanted due to the wet weather!. Thanks for a lovely stay..... We will be back!

  • "Ok for 2; not perhaps suitable for 4 adults."

Could have done with a cafetière and a salad bowl. Shower excellent.

Thanks for your feedback. We appreciate it. The shack sleeps 4 with 2 bedrooms sleeping 4 people, there is a dining table with 4 chairs and 4 seats for sitting in the living room. The shack is cosy and quiet and we think it provides an excellent base for a seaside retreat for up to 4 guests. Thank you for your other recommendations. All the best. Property Owner

  • "The only criticism I have is the lack of space to put away our food, there are no spare cupboards and the glasses could do with updating, we managed as there was only two of us but had there been four people who all wanted a glass of wine they wouldn’t have been able to."

The location however is perfect, we took our dog and the beach is so close and dog friendly all year round he could have a nice long walk before we headed off for the day.

Garden is safe and secure. The beach is very close and dog friendly all year round. My only, very minor, issue was that the beds were a bit small for a man over 6 foot tall. But everything else was perfect!

  • "Back from a week at The Shack which I chose for the very secure garden to keep my dog safe."

Two minutes from Eccles beautiful sandy beach which is dog friendly all year. A totally successful holiday which we all enjoyed even though on one evening it was -4 outside and most days we awoke to a sharp frost. Beautiful walks away from the coast too, especially one around Hickling Broad. A great little place, well equipped and comfortable. And we loved the seaside-y ‘shabby chic’ style of the interior.

It’s an excellent place to relax with your canine friend and go for walks on the beautiful beach nearby. We were there in very wet weather but in the sun it would be much better.

Exceptionally clean and well stocked with all you would need in a holiday cottage. Limited storage but owners have creatively used all available space to provide storage without compromising on comfort. Two minute walk to the beach - this, along with the fully enclosed garden, makes it very dog friendly. Would definitely recommend.
