Yes, it has a kitchenette rather than a full blown kitchen but just pack accordingly. I will definitely be returning, hopefully soon!

  • "A lovely week in an exceptional property."

Easy walk to the beach dotted with Anthony Gormley's cast iron statues. Used local train for transport - both into Liverpool and north along the coast to access sections of coastal walk. Car not used all week. Crosby Coffee cafe recommended as a good start to the day. Glad we had warning of the small kitchen so we could plan ahead. Managed fine just using the kettle, small fridge and microwave.

Stunning house and amazing location; right on the sand dunes with an endless choice of off-lead dog walks. The house is close to all local amenities and it’s an easy trip into Liverpool. The apartment is spotlessly clean and should you need anything the host responds immediately and is more than happy to help.

What a lovely review, Thank you so much!! I’m so glad you enjoyed your stay, hopefully we will get the chance to welcome you again in the future. Warm Regards Vicky Property Owner

  • "Wow,wow,wow!"

What an amazing place and what a find! We had the best 7 days. So clean and so well decorated, we felt like we had walked into a posh hotel. The owners offer small toiletries and a lovely selection of hot drinks. Tea towels, dish cloths, and beautiful white towels. The only negative, which isn’t really a negative, is the kitchen is very small. I used the wardrobe shelf to store food. The fridge is small and there is no hob but there is a combi oven. I took my airfryer, as I was aware, from previous reviews how small the kitchen was. I wonder is some wall units can be put up to store food and if a foldaway table could be available to prepare food? Next time I will take a tub to store our food. Oh yes and there are airers, an iron and a hairdryer. Location is great. Opposite Crosby beach and there is a train station and some lovely restaurants and shops in walking distance. We will definitely be returning, thank you so much!

Thank you so much for booking with us, and leaving such a fantastic review!! As a new business we welcome any feed back, so we can give our guests the best possible stay. We have taken on board your feedback and have since added an Air Fryer and foldable serving table with storage facilities. Was a pleasure hosting you and hope to see you again soon. Best Wishes Vicky Property Owner

  • "A beautiful apartment, the problems we had were with the size of the seating as we are both getting on in life we found it difficult to climb out of the low settee’s and had to place 3 cushions behind us to sit up, I’m sure fitter folk would be fine."

I couldn’t find any information on the heating system, there was supposed to be information to light the gas fire but it wasn’t there, we were lucky it was warm weather. The place on the whole was very clean apart from a pile of dead flys behind the TV. The bathroom, bedroom, conservatory and position were spot on, with excellent walks from the door. All said we had a lovely stay at Ismay Billiard Room.

So glad you enjoyed your stay in the Billiard suite, and Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We can only apologise for the lack of information on lighting the gas fire, I have since added this to the information/welcome pack. Also apologies for the flys behind the tv, we pride ourselves on cleanliness so I’m sure not to let this happen again. Would love to welcome you here again soon. Regards Vicky Property Owner

  • "The property is lovely with a lot of history associated with it."

The lounge, bathroom and bedroom are all very spacious. The kitchen area is small with limited facilities if you want to self cater but there is a small fridge and microwave. This is made clear before booking and is fine as long as customers are aware. There are local shops, bars and restaurants within walking distance. The location is excellent. 10 minutes walk to Crosby beach and the Anthony Gormley statues. The sunsets across the beach are magnificent. The whole coastline has fantastic beaches. Waterloo train station is about 12 minutes walk with easy access to Liverpool and Southport. Excellent host in Vicky and all in all a great place to stay.

All facilities were clean and available. Only one, slight problem, for my arthritic hands, was the door handles and closures. (Totally expected with such an aged property) Otherwise, a great holiday break made superb with a ‘sail by’ by an ocean liner … at the bottom of the garden..!! Well, looked like!! Thank you.

Thank you for your lovely review. We are so pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay. We appreciate any feedback and will certainly look into the door handle situation. We hope to welcome you back in the very near future. Kind Regards Vicky Property Owner

  • "We really enjoyed our stay."

However as we were with our dog, eating out was tricky and we couldn't really cook as the kitchen was not really geared up to that. We appreciate that it's an old building and layout would be hard but we hadn't realised there wouldn't be a hob or an adequate sized fridge. We still had a great short break but I think I would hesitate to re - book because of this. Perhaps the other flat had a bigger kitchen?

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are so glad to hear you enjoyed your stay but are saddened to hear you struggled in the kitchen, We can only apologise for this. We have limited space but hopefully in the future we would really like to add an induction hob. We always acknowledge with Sykes our description of the property so guests are fully aware of what services we provide, So please always check as we would like the opportunity to welcome you again when hopefully more adequate cooking facilities can be added. • "Sparkling clean and stylish, with comfortable furniture in the sitting room."

The kitchen is very limited with the kettle being in the bedroom. The sleeping arrangements were not as listed which negatively impacted on our holiday . The sofa bed is very uncomfortable which is why we have only described comfort as 2. We would like to thank the manager for trying to alleviate the situation and Sykes for their support. We enjoyed sitting in the conservatory in the evenings and it is an easy walk to restaurants in the town.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. As a new business your feedback is most welcome. We appreciate the issues you have raised and they have now been dealt with, we can only apologise for this as comfort for our guests is very important to us. Our other suite-The Dining Room suite has Two large King size beds so maybe would be better suited if you would ever like to visit again. We hope to get the opportunity to welcome you back in the future. Kind Regards Vicky Property Owner

The property

The Beach Lawn House was originally built in 1860 for Mr Thomas Henry Ismay founder of the Oceanic Steam Navigation Company, more commonly known as the White Star Line.

His son Bruce Ismay lived at the house until he was 13 , he eventually took over the running of the White Star line when his father retired.

After commissioning the build of RMS Titanic, in 1912, he came to international attention as the highest-ranking White Star official to survive the sinking of the ship for which he was subject to severe criticism.

The Ismay Billiard Room Apartment used to be the wing of the house that was once the Original Billiard Room for the Ismay family.

Step back in time into this luxury abode.

It has a private entrance from the front of the main building that leads into the Orangery/Conservatory, a delightful space to relax and take in those beach views.

Take a step up into the lounge, where you can collapse on the comfortable corner sofa beside the gas fire, picking out a favourite show from the Smart TV.

Move into the kitchen, housing a microwave/Oven, fridge, kettle and toaster for your basic cooking needs.

Decorated with Cole & Son designer wallpaper , the focal point of the apartment is the eye-catching bedroom, housing a sumptuous king-size bed in a crushed velvet frame, with two sofas (one is a small sofa bed) and elegant wardrobe to complete.

Start the morning with a rinse in the walk-in shower, before heading out to the front lawn and bistro table and chairs for a coffee.

Choose the Ismay Billiard Room Apartment and enjoy a wonderful historic escape to Liverpool.

Beach Lawn House (titanic Interest)

Welcome to the Beach Lawn House, the beautiful Mansion house that was originally built in 1860 for Mr Thomas Henry Ismay founder of the Oceanic Steam Navigation Company, more commonly known as the White Star Line. He purchased the property for only £2,500 on the 27th Dec 1860. The original deeds showing his signature can be seen in the hallway of the main house. Thomas Ismay’s house - like the remainder of its neighbours in Beach Lawn — was built in the Italianate manner, popular with the rich merchant classes during the 1860s, and one of a number of architectural styles which battled for favour during the 19° century. At Beach Lawn House, Thomas Ismay used Italianate in its most outspoken form, with a riot of profuse and opulent decoration. Here, the building covenants stipulated uniformity of style, hence all the other houses are Italianate ~ but typically, Ismay managed to outdo all the rest with a house more showy than all its neighbours. Since its original build in 1860 Beach Lawn House has never been open to the general public. In 1930 the Mansion house was divided up into 4 large apartments. In 2022 the new owners decided to renovate the huge ground floor apartment and have now created TWO separate letting suites on the ground floor level . The other area on the ground floor that contains the original Lounge room can from time to time also be privately booked for Private afternoon teas and small evening functions. The house sits opposite Crosby Beach in the Brighton – Le – Sands district of Merseyside. Beautifully presented throughout with off-road parking, EV charging, luxury touches and front lawns. The Beach House provides an exceptional retreat for couples and their canine companions looking to escape to this part of Liverpool for a while. Just a short walk away is Crosby Coastal Park, an excellent starting point for exploring Sefton’s Natural Coast, home to Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre, a purpose-built water sports and visitor centre, featuring a bistro and gym. Crosby Beach offers a large expanse that is home to Antony Gormley's 'Another Place' sculpture, providing lovely walks leading onto the 22 mile Sefton Coastal Path that boasts wonderful coastline vistas. Located near to a train station, you can easily access the city centre of Liverpool and explore the popular Cavern Club, which has famously hosted bands such as The Beatles and Rolling Stones, before heading to the Royal Albert Docks for a choice of eateries and even concert square for bustling nightlife. The Beach provides a charming escape, whatever time of year.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £150.
