It had everything you needed for a great stay, the hot tub was fantastic way to relax after walking all day. The pub up the road (Glan yr Afron Inn) is also great, the locals are very friendly and they are dog friendly. Perfect stay, we can't wait to book again!

  • "This cottage is in a great location for visiting North Wales."

Selling point for us is the covered verandah and decking which housed the hot tub, outside table and chairs, double swinging seat. So even on the days when the weather was drizzling with rain, we were still able to enjoy the outside space. The cottage is cosy and spacious. The warm air radiators are lovely and responsive should you need them to take the chill off on a cold wet day. Welcome basket was a very nice touch and very generous too with fresh baked bread, shortbread, kettle chips, bottle of wine, coffee, welsh butter and cheese. A couple of small issues were quickly dealt with by the lovely hosts, there was an essential item missing from the kitchen which was rectified almost immediately. I would like to see a couple more dishes in the kitchen, maybe supply enough for 6, then there is always extra dishes to use for serving up etc. and a colander would have been useful - small things that would make life a little easier if you want to cook and eat in. But that didnt detract from our enjoyment. The best compliment we could pay is to say that we would return to the lovely Acorns cottage.

  • "We would like to say that our stay was so enjoyable."

The location and accommodation was superb. The owners being on site was a bonus and both friendly and welcoming. We would recommend this to anyone. One recommendation maybe would be a fly net on the entrance as when we were there we did keep the door open during the day because of the warm weather. Apart from that we could not fault the place.

  • "Acorns was perfect for us!"

It was lovely and clean and everything we needed during our stay. We had the loveliest welcome basket filled with lots of lovely fresh local produce (bread was amazing). Beau wasn't left out either with a tin of doggy treats and a basket of toys and blanket, he was a happy pup! The decking area and hot tub was fantastic. Honestly couldn't fault anything, area was lovely and lots of doggy friendly places to visit too. Beau loved the garden area, always new smells for him to investigate lol. We would highly recommend Acorns to everyone.

  • "Acorns is such a beautiful place to stay."

Great location, very clean and homely. The hot tub was amazing and the little basket of goodies were a lovely touch. There is a pub up the hill which is within 2 minutes walking distance and plenty to do only a car journey away (we visited Chester Zoo and Zip World which we highly recommend) Thank you for a lovely stay!

  • "The property is nestled away in the quiet market town of Holywell and boasts an inviting decking area that is ideal for lounging around, listening to the birds and enjoying quality time with family."

It is shaded so that you don’t need to worry about your pooch and/or children being in direct sun. The hot tub is particularly inviting in the evenings with inbuilt mood lighting and soothing jets - providing a sense of luxury and hint of romance (if that’s your jam). The location is near a pub/restaurant and a short distance to local attractions. Just 20 -30 minutes drive, you will find beaches, well stocked fishing lakes and Chester Zoo. The owners are very welcoming and take great pride in ensuring that your holiday is relaxed and enjoyable.

Thereafter it was non intrusive, however we knew we could access information if required at any time. The property is spacious, clean with all amenities on hand. An extra surprise on arrival which were provided, was bread, butter and local savouries. A very pleasant relaxing stay and a good base for travelling to nearby towns & villages. Would highly recommend.

About the location

HOLYWELL

Mold 9 miles; Prestatyn 10 miles; Chester 18 miles.

The market town of Holywell in North Wales takes its name from the town’s most famous attraction, the 7th century St Winefride’s Well, one of the Seven Wonders of Wales. Holywell boasts over 60 listed buildings, with a variety of late Georgian and Victorian buildings on offer, along with a pedestrianised shopping centre, pubs, restaurants and an open-air market every Thursday. Just one mile away are the 12th century ruins of Basingwerk Abbey within the grounds of the Greenfield Valley Heritage Park, with its museum. There are many lovely walking routes in the area, including the open common area at Halkyn Mountain, Pennant Way, Offa’s Dyke and The Welsh Coastal Path. Within driving distance is the pretty Market town of Mold, which holds an outdoor market on a Wednesday and Saturday. The historic city of Chester, with its famous Rows, Roman Walls, racecourse, zoo, shops and restaurants is just over the border in England. The beautiful Welsh Coast is easily reached with the little seaside village and beach of Talacre only a short drive away. Prestatyn, Rhyl, and of course Llandudno are also easily accessible, together with the majestic mountains of Snowdonia. There are also some beautiful gardens to visit, Ness on the Wirral, and Bodnant Gardens in Snowdonia to name just two.

Note: There is an unfenced pond in the raised-level garden, please ensure children and pets are supervised.
Note: There are three steps up to the garden.
