  • "We were generally very happy during our stay."

The stairs were a little awkward for my wife who has limited mobility, but she preferred to sleep upstairs to be near the loo at night time. Facilities were great: very efficient central heating, and an imposing looking washing machine! It would have been nice to have a SkyQ box and LG TV like we have at home - the JVC TV is rather dated, and I'm not sure I'd call it "Smart". It resolutely ignores the YouTube and NetFlix button on the remote, but I did eventually figure out how to reliably access these services. Hint: go to the counter-intuitively named Android Home Page and all will be well. We're both nearly 70, and it would have been nice to find a teapot. I'm guessing that's a generation thing? Do young folks these days just dunk tea bags in mugs? The only real divergence from the published property details is "a small yard area with picnic bench and a distant coastal view". Really? We couldn't find that, unless you're talking about the small bench by the front door. However, these are all minor quibbles. We were very comfortable at Bryn Coed, and would definitely stay there again if in the area. The property is clean, well maintained, deservedly popular and very close to the heritage steam railway. My wife (who is unexpectedly turning into a steam engine fanatic!) is missing the place already.

Very friendly Landlord text us on the day to day the cottage was ready! Freshly laundered bedding and towels all ready! A pint of milk in the fridge came in v useful. All absolutely superb! The layout was fantastic for us with a family of 5! Did not feel small very well laid out. Fantastic curry house on Bank Place too! Just perfect! Will definitely recommend & return! • "There was an overwhelming smell of damp upon entering the property."

Having a fairly young baby i was mortified when she was having floor play time to smell the rug in the living room. All the rooms where decorated to a nice standard but it does need a deep clean. I was shocked when we arrived to see that the log burner can not be used by guests when one of the advertising points was that you could have open fire. We had to fix the toilet flush when we arrived too but that was just one of them things. The owners really need to sort the damp and black mould out and make sure the property is fully cleaned and it would have had a 5 star rating.

  • "Absolutely wonderful place in a great location."

Parking wasn’t an issue as we parked Terrace Road. I would recommend bringing a big casserole pan as the two small pans provided aren’t great for doing a stew or chilli for 4. Spent ages looking for the light switch in the kitchen to turn off only to realise it’s on an infrared sensor and turns off after a few minutes. Very comfortable and warm. Would love to stay again.

  • "Location of Bryn is great step out the door and you’re in town ."

The cottage is lovely and has a nice feeling about it . It needs a professional deep clean skirting boards cupboard doors etc . We had a private chef come to cook for us and we had to clean everything before he arrived so it was suitable . Parking is none existant . I live in port so i know how difficult it can be but during holiday season it is really difficult to find a car parking space a lot of the time I had to park in the high street or leave it at home 5 mins away which wasn’t ideal with a elderly wheelchair user . The shower over the bath is isn’t designed properly so as you can see and smell it’s very damp in there and is leaking to down stairs it needs re configuration also if your over 5ft tall you have to hunch in the shower . However the bath is very long which was nice . Heating system doesn’t work with hive on the wall unless you go into the boiler cupboard and turn it on first which the hive shows that’ it’s working already so nice you turn the boiler on it’s great . All in all we had a lovely week but I think it’s just time it had a little tlc to make it perfect . And yes we would return

  • "We had a lovely stay and would definitely stay again."

It’s a good base location. Only minor things were that the throws in the living room hadn’t been washed and smelled of damp dogs. The info pack could have had a bit more info. I didn’t find the hairdryer until our last day and wasn’t sure how the reclycing system worked but I did search online and found out. Also wasn’t sure if we could use the space behind the property to dry clothes etc? These are only comments to help improve for future guests. We really loved the cottage it was a home from home. Only thing that we missed was hour garden.

  • "This is our second time staying at Bryn Coed, and it's a lovely, cosy place to stay with all the facilities that you need."

We would strongly recommend. The only issue we had was that the lounge had a strong smell of 'wet dog', possibly from the last visitors, which took quite a lot of air freshener and airing out to get rid of! This would not put us off from returning though.

Great location for exploring and plenty to do within walking distance of the property. The only negative for me was the shower over the bath as the ceiling was sloped; being tall (6ft) we could not stand up straight.

Thank you for taking the time to write some feedback on Bryn Coed. I'm sorry that, as a taller person, you found the lower ceilings of a Welsh cottage a little uncomfortable. I', glad that the rest of the property and local area met your expectations. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage, good location, only let down by the fact that the "courtyard" did not appear to exist."

There was no picnic bench. There was a tiny area by the front door, basically the door step area with a tiny stone seat. Unfortunately this is not suitable for dogs to use as a toilet area. Also there was nowhere nearby for the dogs to use as a toilet apart from outside residents houses, which is not pleasant.

Thank you for your feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed the cottage and the local area. We allow guests to bring pets but unfortunately the property doesn't have a garden- we offer a small, enclosed yard with a bench sourced from local slate and stone. The property is situated in a residential area off the high street with easy access to the parks, the beach and the countryside walks beyond. Property Owner

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. A few tiny (& they are tiny) niggles. The shower isn’t great for anyone above 5ft 5” - I’m 5ft 10” it would benefit from a shower tray (get rid of the bath), new pillows, kitchen would benefit from tongs & definitely new knives. Didn’t deter from a what was a wonderful & very reasonably priced stay. Would return here in a heart beat. Thank you

  • "Overall everything up to standard."

A lovely place to stay. The cottage has most things covered. The master bedroom stated a king size bed which felt more like a double. My husband is 6ft 3inch so sleeping wasn’t great.. some better quality pillows would be a nice touch but certainly not essential. Kitchen knives are blunt, I mean VERY blunt. To be honest we found that funny more than anything else when trying to cut through sourdough, or an onion .. if you are looking to cook there you really should take your own. A lovely touch is the TV channel’s .. they have Netflix signed in for guests to use. (We had bad storms so most evenings we stayed home and it was lovely to put a film on later in the evening). The location is pretty perfect and very quiet. There is a great Bangladeshi restaurant across the street and the most amazing Bistro a stones throw from the cottage.

Thank you for your very constructive feedback! It is useful to us to have guests opinions so we can keep our property meeting the high expectations we endeavour to reach. I'm glad you had a good stay overall. Property Owner

  • "Just got back from a week's stay at this delightful cottage."

It felt so homely. We don't eat out a lot on holiday so if you are the same you may need to take a casserole dish and yorshire pudding tin, other than that it has everything you need. It was spotlessly clean , stylish and cosy, with comfortable beds. The cottage is a perfect base , close to the high street with shops , supermarkets , restaurants and bars , however walk for just 5 minutes and you are by the harbour, 10 mins a stunning nature reserve. Borth y guest beach is only 10 mins walk and at 9am on a sunny day there was just me and the dog on a beautiful secluded beach. Portmadog is full of friendly people. It's perfect for for dog walkers as there are so many walks to do and the beaches are dog friendly. The cottage is a perfect base to explore snowdon (which we did) and the surrounding beautiful areas. You can also take a scenic stream train ride in a vintage carriage ( book in advance) We didn't want to leave this cottagr and will most certainly be coming back.
