  • "We had a lovely stay for a week , beautiful surroundings, very private and beautifully decorated."

A real home from home ….I would have stayed longer but fully booked which isn’t surprising. I would highly recommend for family and friends to stay .

Hi, really appreciate your lovely comments and so pleased you enjoyed your stay. Thank you so much for taking the time to leave feedback Property Owner

  • "In general this was a lovely cottage in a glorious setting."

There were a couple of issues, which probably only apply when there are 6 adults staying. There were only 4 dining room chairs. We had to go out and get 2 of the patio chairs and give them a clean down so all of us could sit down to dinner at the same time. I realise there were 2 bar stools but not many people in their 60s want to perch on a bar stool. There was also a major issue of space at the dining table. The other issue was with the mattress in the room without an en suite but with a wardrobe. It was very soft, I suspect quite old, and we continually collided in the night as we rolled together. I didn't complain about either of these issues as I figured there was nothing to be done that week, but I think a couple more chairs and a new mattress would be a good idea. We also had an issue with the door lock which was fixed promptly.

Hi So glad you enjoyed the cottage and its peaceful setting. Thank you for taking the time to give feedback , we appreciate all the input we have from our guests. Property Owner

  • "Lovely building and surroundings."

Had to remove hair from family bathroom shower as it was blocked not a good start. Bedroom next to family bathroom had no mirror also no wardrobe to hang clothes in. Larger bedroom with en suite there was no wardrobe to hang your clothes although there was a room through a door in the bedroom that had a wardrobe but was used to store general cleaning products such as mop and bucket which was not very pleasant aroma wise ,considering it was attached to the bedroom. The main living room sofas were so low and uncomfortable persons of the older generation would have great difficulty in getting up out of this furniture as you are almost on the floor and were found to be most uncomfortable.. On the bright side the beds and bedding were excellent allowing for a lovely nights sleep. If you like a boiled egg for breakfast bring your own egg cups as we could not find any

Thank you for finding the time to leave your feedback. There is a wardrobe in bedroom two but unfortunately no space for one in bedroom three. The walk in dressing room in the main bedroom has hanging space but I agree not the right place for the mop storage, I will make the cleaners aware of both this and the shower blockage and thank you for bringing it to our attention. The feather filled sofas have never seemed low but I will take on board the comments ! Glad you slept well, and egg cups will be added ! Property Owner

  • "This bungalow was chosen because it enabled my 86/88 year old parents to join us with their own en suite."

However, may we please suggest a handrail is put into that shower for those who are unsteady on their feet? Notwithstanding this the property is perfect for the less able bodied or wheelchair users. Yes we would go again but we'd avoid the corner bedroom (or take ear plugs) as not only were the walls paper thin & we could easily hear the lowest of conversations from the main bedroom, but the water noise from the main bathroom next door was surprisingly loud when someone ran the taps/shower. The owner kindly replaced the missing casserole dishes & other bits that we are used to finding in self catering accommodation which we were grateful for. Overall very good, spacious and warm. Sykes, can you please explain why my review of Dirreen House Athea is on your website when I booked it through Hogans?

  • "Cottage location superb Regrettably not up to standard for the price paid, every bed had cobwebs at sides and on headboard, two asthma sufferers in party so had to be cleaned, also the use of strong plug in air freshener wasn’t appreciated, this property is advertised as no pets, but most certainly there has been a cat in the premises which caused a problem for myself, lounge sofas very uncomfortable, saggy not to standard expected of this type of accommodation, and a lack of adequate garden furniture was unfortunate on lovely sunny day, unable to sit/dine out with children."

Thank you for your feedback. It is unfortunate that you did not bring any of your concerns to our attention during your stay as they could all have been addressed. The cottage is always fully cleaned after all guests leave and we have never had any comments about it before. The cottage has in the past been a family home and we have never had a Cat nor do we allow guests with pets. The dining garden table and chairs is located in the rear garden, and this is a very nice area to eat outside. Cushions are provided for the dining chairs there. The lounge sofas have feather cushions, and are not as hard as modern sofa styles often are, this is in keeping with the cottage décor in general. Property Owner
