  • "A second enjoyable stay at The Stables… cosy, comfortable and clean accommodation with lovely countryside views."

Within easy reach of York ( a good bus service from Easingwold) and Thirsk worth a day visit. Crayke and Easingwold both lovely villages worth a visit too. Ideal holiday location for a peaceful stay.

Everything that we could need was present. The instructions for using the place were easy to follow. The welcome both in person and the stores in the fridge helped to make us feel at home straight away. Rachael could not have been more helpful, and yet I never felt that she was intruding on our holiday. Thank you very much Rachael for a really great holiday.

  • "The property is situated in a very quiet rural setting with views out over the surrounding countryside making it ideal for a peaceful holiday."

At the same time there are some wonderful tourist sites in easy reach such as English Heritage and National Trust properties. A five minute drive takes you to Easingwold for any necessary shopping and good quality eateries. There is also a good Friday market and bus service. The property was warm with the air-source heating and there’s also a log-burner if needed. The decor is light and everything comfortable and modern and if you couldn’t go out would be very pleasant to just stay in. There’s an undercroft area for your vehicle meaning it’ll be dry and frost-free. The kitchen area is perfectly adequate for cooking from scratch. The owner is nearby if you need help with anything at all and very accommodating.

A wonderful location and the place itself is a decent size with everything you could need for a short or longer stay. Honestly, I just wanted to stay longer, the bed also super comfy! The wine in the fridge was a lovely touch, as were the biscuits, that's very thoughtful, thank you. A few things that would make it even better - An email or listing on Sykes of what condiments are available at the lodge. The Fridge does give off quite a loud hum.

A perfect location for visiting York, approx 10 miles to the park and ride at Rawcliffe Bar for hassle free parking and short bus journey into the centre. We went to Whitby, Castle Howard and Helmsley for short trips from The Stables. We pre booked Sunday Lunch at the Durham Ox in Crayke, this is advisable due the wonderful food on offer and popularity of the place. We were allowed complete privacy by the owners and would like to thank them for the welcome treats that were left for our arrival. A wonderful break in the first week of April.
