The cottage was spotless and had everything we needed The pictures do not do the cottage justice as it was more spacious than we thought, The bathroom and shower were exceptional. The covid packs that were left for us was a great idea even down to rubbing down towels plus an umbrella and walking stick. The railway viewing platform is a must for the railway buffs. The outside converted waiting room was ideal for a nightcap or early tea or coffee.. Overall we would thoroughly recommend this cottage to all. Loftus itself is very run down due to the economic climate the local pubs did not serve meals but travel 2.5 miles to Easington and The Tiger Inn is spot on.

  • "The property was absolutely beautiful."

The owners had decorated for Christmas for us and left a Christmas card and crackers, which was a really nice touch. We also found a bottle of fizz in the fridge and a Christmas cake and shortbread! They couldn't have been more helpful when we left a coat behind; the lady sent it first class and refused our offer to pay for postage. We had the best time and it made our first Christmas as Mr and Mrs a truly memorable one.

The photos were actually of the owners garden - we just had a tarmacked yard- & no trains at all when we were there.

  • "The apartment was wonderful, beautifully laid out and had everything we needed."

It was clean and is decorated to a high standard. The hosts were friendly and welcoming and the little extras they supplied was very generous. We felt very comfortable and relaxed during our stay. The immediate area seemed run down but it is a great base for exploring the Yorkshire coast and as it is on the edge of the Moors, some of Yorkshires' beautiful scenic views are around the corner. Saltburn-by-the-Sea was lovely with a nice beach and good facilities.

The property

This charming studio cottage is part of the former station master's house, in the hamlet of Liverton Mines on the outskirts of Loftus village.

Offering all ground floor accommodation, the property has been tastefully modernised to a high standard.

Entry is via a porch to a small kitchen, which leads into the spacious open plan studio, which incorporates a comfortable sitting area, a dining table and a double bed, plus there is a contemporary fully-tiled shower room.

With fine attention to detail, the property feels warm and welcoming, in a pleasant setting.

Outside, to the rear is a private patio garden, directly adjacent to a commercial goods train line, with six trains trundling by each day.

This is not a fast or noisy line, and will undoubtedly interest railway enthusiasts.

In fact, part of the fencing has been cut away to afford a better view!

Close to some lovely sandy beaches and excellent walking trails, this station annexe is well placed for couples wishing to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside and the popular seaside towns of Saltburn and Whitby.

The nearby fishing villages of Staithes and Runswick Bay have strong Captain Cook connections, with small, pretty coves, coble landings and quaint, tiny fishermen's cottages that tumble down towards the sea.

Explore the narrow, cobbled alleyways and partake in coffee and cakes on the waterfront.

The wide expanses of the North York Moors are on the doorstep, with many attractions, including fishing on the nearby Scaling Dam, the Danby Moors Tourist and Exhibition Centre and the steam railway at Grosmont.

An excellent base for a varied and interesting holiday.

The long and lively main street hosts a variety of shops, eateries, pubs, banks and an impressive town hall. Lying behind the main street is a leisure centre with an excellent swimming pool. Loftus is well placed for discovering the small coastal villages of Runswick Bay and Staithes, the latter being a popular choice for artists.
