  • "Lovely quiet site and roomy property Let down by heating, turned cold through ..."

Lovely quiet site and roomy property Let down by heating, turned cold through the evening and the owner controls when it is put on throughout the day, by the time radiators heated up to warm the lodge it was then switched off again, had to sit there wrapped in blankets and coats which spoilt the evenings

Thankyou for the feedback The heating is set at 20c and is on a schedule it comes on and off at various times throughout the day and night I also monitor the temp of the lodge and if the temp drops to 18c I alter the schedule if guests require the heating schedule to be adjusted I do so as soon as I am contacted on the number provided to all guests The reason for the nest control is locked is because some guests in the past have set the heating to max and left it on 24hrs which is not acceptable I apologise if the heating schedule was not to your requirements as I said if you had contacted me on the number provided I would have adjusted it to suit Thankyou for your feed back Property Owner

  • "I want to be really fair in this review so I'll start by saying the lodge is really lovely and at first glance it seemed perfect."

However we were first greeted by a very rude man from the site office, he told us off for missing the office even though we went straight back. He then followed us down to the lodge, watched my friend park and get out of the car then told her she had parked in the wrong place. She asked where it stated where to park and he said "you shouldn't be arguing with me"!!! Our first night we decided to stay in and cook, the cooker was very dirty and smelt unpleasant. There are only a few small saucepans so cooking was out of the question. The en suite shower was also very dirty. The long list of rules about the log burner were also sent to me in very long text messages. Perhaps the owner could put a little effort into the cooker and shower as he does the precious log burner. Unbelievably the owner controls the heating (I felt like I'd gone back 30 years!) It was so cold the first night that we had to go and buy more logs to keep warm. It is not acceptable for owners to decide when you can have the heating on. During the week the owner turned up to "check on the hot tub" why he couldn't have done that after we left I don't know. After he left a woman walked through the back gate asking where he was - no idea who she was! 5 minutes later a different woman appeared peering through the gate, she ducked down when she saw me. It all felt very intrusive and made us feel uncomfortable. For anyone going in the winter months I would recommend taking some kind of heater to save spending money on logs, also take some larger saucepans if you want to cook! I'm sorry this is not a great review, I hope the owner takes note of the comments about the cooker and shower and most importantly that he allows people to decide when they need the heating on!!

Thankyou for your feedback I do not agree with the comments you have left also the booking was for 2 people it has come to light that there was more than 2 people at the lodge this is why I have rules regarding the lodge because people abuse the lodge when staying there As for the hot tub it is inspected randomly this is for health and safety purposes and to check on the water quality and chemicals because once again people abuse the lodge and hot tub As for the lodge being untidy or unclean my house keepers take great pride in making sure it is spotless and clean Regarding the heating I control the heating because guests have abused it and had the heating on constantly it is set on a schedule and the temp is 20c I also monitor it and if it needs adjusting I do so When I personally checked the hot tub I asked if everything was ok and was told by you both that yes everything was lovely at no point did you report anything you were unhappy about But Thankyou for your review although I do not agree with any of it at all Property Owner

Great showers and always hot water. Excellent wifi. Plenty of plug sockets. Good information folders and tourist information leaflets. Can recommend Asha Indian restaurant in Catterick Garrison. Taxis at a resonable price £8 to Catterick Garrison, £14 to Richmond. Owner quick to respond to and action slight problem with heating settings. Complimentary gifts well received. Thank you Carl. • "Had a lovely stay beautiful lodge and place only issues where the heating it wasn't on at the right times and we found it cold a lot of the time and the hot tub was nice but again your not allowed to adjust the temperature and we found it wasn't warm enough would of liked to be able to turn it up to what we wanted."

Advertised as having a log burner but only when we got there we was told that the policy had changed and we were told not to use it. Despite this we would come again

Hi Thankyou for your feedback regarding the heating the temp is set at 19.5 to 20c I check the temp on a regular basis and adjust the schedule if requested Regarding the hot tub the temp is set between 35c and 37c Regarding the Log burner as per my message I no longer provide Logs and recommended the supermarket for Logs Thankyou for your feedback Property Owner
