  • "Had a great two weeks staying at the Moorings."

    The house is lovely, cosy and warm, with very comfy beds, we’ve no complaints at all. It’s in an interesting position, being right next to the canal. Our whole family enjoyed playing with all the games provided. Great tv provision as well.

  • "Our stay at the Moorings was a pleasure from start to finish."

    The location is great and the property itself is a real home from home. Lovely little details like treats for the dog and a welcome pack got us settled in. It is warm and cosy and has everything you could need. The owners were amazingly friendly and helpful.. We couldn't recommend the Moorings highly enough!!

  • "Quite simply a Fantastic House in a Fantastic location."

    Beautifully furnished and presented and so comfortable. Everything you could think of was there for you ready and waiting. So much to do and see in the area and sitting by the canal early morning or last thing at night with a cuppa is just so peaceful and chilling. Was an absolute pleasure to be there and a shame to leave.

  • "Excellent cottage with everything and more provided."

    We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone. The only small let down was no real time TV to watch the news and other programs. Made good use of Netflix however.

  • "A fantastic couple that made sure everything was okay for us and were only a phone call away ."

    They could have not been more helpful . The welcome pack was fantastic,even leaving a treat for our dog . The cottage was superb in cleanliness , comfort, and well equipped with everything you could possibly need . The location was very relaxing and had fantastic walks. .     Perfect for our 2 Patterland Terrier sisters with its spacious enclosed gardens front and back or the property. All facilities modern and first rate. Location terrific. We could not fault it in any way. Will be very happy to visit again in the future. An absolute pleasure.

  • "It was a gorgeous cottage and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay."

    The cottage was well kept and very clean. We loved sitting out the front garden looking onto the canal. The location for our break was ideal with amenities near by. We could not of wished for anything else from the hosts making the cottage feel welcoming.

  • "Me and my family have just returned from a fabulous stay at The Moorings."

    It’s location is amazing, there are some great walks on your doorstep. The accommodation is excellent ,spotlessly clean and all the fixtures and fittings were of a high standard. The welcome pack is a lovely touch, the swan food was my granddaughter’s favourite. I do have to say it was probably the best nights sleep I’ve had in a long time, as the beds are so comfortable. We will definitely be back, thank you Jane and Jeff for letting us stay.

  • "Stunning property with every mod con you could need."

    ( although with the wet wether a clothes airer wouldn’t have gone a miss) Definitely will look to use again when up visiting family and the surrounding area.

  • "The Moorings is fantastic!"

    The quality of the fixtures and fittings. The property is spacious with the 4 bedrooms, the decor, furniture and cleanliness is spot on. Everything has been thought of, games and activities to use in the lounge. Such a great location on the canal and close to lots of day trip ideas. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners. We will definitely return

  • "The standard of The Moorings was exceptionally high - both the quality of furniture, linen, kitchen facilities, tidy outside patio and garden - plus the thought about what would make a holiday let a relaxing and a bit luxurious (coffee maker, the welcome hamper and treats - including treats for the dog!"

Enjoying a canal-side position in Stanley Ferry, near Wakefield, West Yorkshire is The Moorings, an enchanting, four-bedroom cottage.

Set in a prime position to enjoy the outdoors, The Moorings offers pet-friendly accommodation and an enviable canal side location near a hub of attractions and amenities, making it a wonderful choice for up to eight people.

Leave the world behind, as you drive down the lane alongside the canal to be greeted by ducks, swans and narrow boats, soon reaching the Moorings with its adjacent parking area.

Step indoors to be welcomed by the well-equipped kitchen/diner, with a host of appliances to ease your stay, where you can prepare and enjoy mealtimes together, either of the enclosed gardens make the perfect place for alfresco dinning, barbecues, and drinks, whilst watching wildlife, boats and people on and by the canal.
