    • “This is one of the best houses we have rented for our "Annual Cousns Weekend". We have been doing this for the past 11 years. It was my turn this year to organise it, a huge job. The minute we walked in through the door everyone said how lovely it was and also how clean and fresh it smelt. The owners had left a welcome pack along with a card saying they hoped we all would enjoy our stay in Whitby. The house was just perfect, most of the bedrooms were very large, the smaller ones were still a very good size. Beds comfortable, sheets, covers etc very fresh. The kitchen was well equipped and there is plenty of room for the 15 people who were there. The dining room was well set out with plenty of chairs. The sitting rooms were comfortable and extremely relaxing to sit in. We needed help with the wifi and the owner was around in less than half an hour to fix it. A very nice, pleasant man. After arrived home I received an email thanking us all for the condition we had left the property in. We have never had this before even though we have always left any houses we have rented in the condition we found it in. I forwarded it to all the group and everyone was delighted to hear this. I would definitely recommend this property to people. The situation was perfect, the house was exactly how it looked on the website. You won't get a better property in Whitby.”

    • “We have recently returned from a lovely family holiday in Whitby. I haven't been since I was a child and my sister and I wanted to take our children to experience the delights we remembered, and weren't disappointed. It was made even more special by the excellent welcome and accommodation plenty of room for everyone and a real home from home a lot of thought has gone into the facilities provided and the decor. The location is wonderful a 2 minute walk to the west cliff tops where for those with mobility issues or small children can use the lift to the beach. 5 minutes to the main prom beach, shops and eateries. The Fisherman's Wife provides lovely food and views overlooking the beach and sea beyond, The Angel Hotel opposite the harbor is a Weatherspoon's (which my experience in our home town has not been good) however the food and value for money were excellent here, as was the Magpie Street Food Kiosk opposite the Funland Arcade the Whitebait's are a must. Their is also 2 open top yellow buses that tour round the town and up to the Abbey it is £5 for a ticket which you can uses as often as you like for 24 hours and services run every 30 minutes so great value and way to see the sights. The Pirate Boat trip is lovely and the males in the group went out on a morning fishing trip which you can book for £20 each at harbor opposite Angel Hotel and that includes equipment and bait. We will be visiting again and highly recommend property, location and Whitby to all and Sykescottages and owners offered a comprehensive and friendly service.”

    • “Booked this house for a family holiday to celebrate my daughters 21st birthday, both the house and the location were excellent. The house is so spacious that 18 people could stay and eat very comfortably. The house has a super large dining table which all 18 guests could sit round and the kitchen was very well equipped to cater for a large meal (even has two dishwashers). There is a very helpful and pleasant housekeeper, Annie, who made contact to check everything was in order and house was very clean and well furnished. The location was very good too, easy walk into the centre and a couple of minutes walk from the beach. Would definitely recommend this property to anyone wanting good quality accommodation for a large group.”

    • “Stayed the weekend with 16 other people on my friend,Kathy's hen do.We were all very impressed with the house, and never once felt crowded, due to ample space for everyone. The kitchen was very well equipped, and, apart from a dodgy tinopener,we couldn't fault it.The dining room proved to be a great place to meet up for games and plans for the day/night too. I shared a twin bedded room on the very top floor, and our bathroom was amazing, with a full sized shower, plus bath with shower attachment, large washbasin and toilet. Real leather settees in both lounges were comfy, and there was plenty of tables to rest our cuppa's on...;) Would love to stay here again,as not too far from all Whitby has to offer~Fabulous!”

    • “I stayed here to celebrate my 60th birthday with my family and friends. It was a perfect place to accommodate our group of 14 people for a week, with room for a further 4 to join us midweek. There was room for everyone to get together (the large dining table and two living rooms were particularly good for this) but without feeling we were ever on top of each other. The house itself is well-decorated, comfortable and very well equipped, even including children's plates etc. The location is excellent; just a few minutes walk into the town centre, the beach and the harbour. When we arrived the house was clean and tidy, and the housekeeper gave us a warm welcome. It was the perfect place to holiday with a large group and I would thoroughly recommend it..”

    • “This was our second visit to 6 Abbey Terrace having spent a long weekend with a group of friends several years ago. On this occasion the house hosted a gathering of our family and the accommodation didn't disappoint being at the very high standard that we had remembered. The house is very well equipped and decorated to a high standard. The kitchen table is vast and enabled the whole group to eat together and made for a great focal point. With 2 lounges you are able to find a quiet area in the house to pick up a book. Perfectly positioned for an easy walk to the harbour or the beach I would certainly recommend the house for a relaxing group holiday. Just be prepared for the exercise with the many flights of stairs to reach the top rooms :-)”

    • “We stayed at 6 Abbey Terrace to celebrate my 30th birthday, and had an absolutely fantastic time. It's a house which has been put together beautifully to allow a large party to settle in quickly and have a great holiday. The bedrooms are all lovely, and the split of twins and doubles really helpful to accommodate a variety of groups. The kitchen was great to allow better people than I to prepare lovely meals, and it was so amazing to have the massive dining room table, and look around it and see so many lovely people in one place! It's an easy walk into the middle of Whitby (although it's steep - but that's true of anywhere in Whitby), to the beach, to the (half a) Royal Crescent. So there are plenty of pubs, shops, fish and chips within easy reach. There's pretty much nothing you need to bring with you, as the house is wonderfully equipped (except maybe an extra CD player or two), you can just arrive, relax and settle in. There are two parking spaces, but the very friendly and relaxed landlords will arrange for very cheap extra permits if you need them. Overall, such a lovely stay and a lovely place to celebrate together.”

    • “We rented this villa to have our first extended family Christmas and my 60th birthday celebration. The villa was perfect in every way, made even more perfect by being fully decorated for Christmas! Spotlessly clean and well cared for, we loved every minute and had to tear ourselves away. Whitby is a fantastic location and the villa is so near the town Centre.”

    • “A large group of 14 of us stayed here over the last weekend of August. The property was perfect for our needs, spacious, cosy, clean and well situated. Nigel and Anna were very accommodating and have done the house up beautifully with lots of nice original features including lovely fireplaces and stripped floorboards. The location is also perfect, walking distance to everything in Whitby and great views of the Abbey and St.Mary's church over onto the East Cliff. Our group had a fantastic weekend and that was in no small part down to the property, We will definitely be back.”

    • “I stayed at 6 Abbey Terrace with a group of friends and we all had a wonderful time. The house is lovely, big spacious rooms, well appointed and very clean and warm. It’s situated on West Cliff and is close to town and all the amenities. There was always plenty of hot water for everyone, the beds were comfortable and there is nothing to fault at all. I had a chef come in on the Saturday night to make a dinner party for all my guests she was fantastic. If anyone is considering staying at this house and would like to do something similar I can highly recommend Lisa Chapman To Dine For. All in all we had a good time at the house, one word of caution there are a lot of stairs, so the house might not be suitable for people with mobility problems particularly the three bedrooms on the top floor which are up some very steep steps. But if you're ok with lot of stairs then this house is perfect for a large group of people.”

    • “An excellent property in a great location.”

    Mr Davies, Lutterworth, September 2015

    • “The standard of accommodation and the location of the property was excellent. There was plenty of space and fittings to more than cater for our party of 18. The housekeeper was very helpful and pleasant and the house was very clean and ready for our arrival. We booked the house for a family gathering to celebrate my daughters 21st birthday and the large square table in the dining room and the kitchen fittings were perfect for cooking for 18 people. Everyone had a fantastic time and we would certainly recommend this property to anyone who wants a large property.”

    Ms Kemp, Hornsea, June 2015

    • “We had a fabulous time here. The house was big enough to accommodate our party of 14 without feeling crowded. I particularly loved the large dining table, where we could get together for meals and were all able to see and chat to each other. The kitchen is superbly stocked for catering for large groups and the entire house was clean and comfortable. It helped make my 60th birthday a special week-long celebration with all the family and one I will always remember. Thanks to the owners and housekeepers.”

    Mrs Robinson, Oldham, April 2015

    • “A fantastic house for a really big group to come to: we had some fantastic meals with 15-17 people around the amazing dining room table. The lounges were great for socialising, too, and the breakfast bar in the kitchen a great place to congregate. It was lovely sitting outside looking down at the Abbey too - would be even nicer in the summer! Easy walk to the beach, the sea front, the old town, lovely view of the abbey. A great place to get everyone you love together.”
