  • "At the time we stayed it was unseasonably cold , which made the property chilly , the timings for the heating need to be reviewed under these circumstances and the rear of the property needs some sort of heating ( the toilet especially) having said that the owner responded quickly when we queried the bathroom radiator not coming on."

Other than this small point the property is well maintained and spotless , the welcome tray a really nice touch

Thank you for your feedback and helpful suggestions, it's much appreciated. I'm really pleased you enjoyed your stay. Becky. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was even better than I had expected!"

Everything was new and nicely decorated. All appliances had very useful instructions. The log burner was very good to have in the cold weather. The welcome tray was very well-stocked and a nice touch. The location of the cottage is ideal for walking into the centre of Pickering, where there are many independent shops. Also two supermarkets also very close by and easy to walk to. Even though the cottage is on a main road, the secondary glazing meant there was hardly any noise at night. We didn't use the outside patio space, but in the better weather it would be an ideal place to sit and relax with a drink. We enjoyed a trip on the North York Moors Railway steam train to Goathland too.

Thank you for your lovely comments. We are really glad you enjoyed your trip and hope to be able to welcome you again. Property Owner

  • "What a lovely cottage!"

All newly equipped and tastefully furnished, it's much more spacious than we imagined from the outside. One of the best cottages we have stayed at and spotlessly clean. The beds are really comfy and the welcome tray was a very nice touch - enjoyed relaxing with the wine in front of the log burner - thank you! The extra downstairs loo is very handy too. On street parking not a problem, space immediately in front of the cottage when we arrived. Once parked, everything is within easy walking distance in Pickering including Lidl and the Co-op, so great for stocking up with holiday supplies. Enjoyed strolling round the town with its interesting independent shops, cafes and pubs, not to mention the North Yorks Moors Railway. We recommend the nearby fish and chip shop in Potter Hill. Pickering is an ideal location with the Moors Forests and Coast all close by. Helpful books and leaflets provided on the local area. We had a couple of great days out to the picture postcard moorland village of Hutton-le-Hole and to Thornton-le-Dale (home to TV's Bangers & Cash). It's only about 3 miles away, with Dalby Forest just to the north of this pretty village. Much more to explore in the area than we could manage in a weekend, so will look forward to a return visit to Bay Tree Cottage and a trip to Whitby on the steam train.

I'm delighted you enjoyed your stay at Bay Tree Cottage and we look forward to welcoming you again soon. Becky Property Owner
