  • "We enjoyed our stay at Malcolm Miller House."

The house is spacious and comfortable. The Christmas decorations were a lovely touch. It is in a very convenient location for accessing everything in Alnmouth on foot, from the beach, to the restaurants, and country walks, which is great. Unfortunately, the exceptionally windy weather across much of the week marred our stay: NOTE - this is NOT the fault of the owner, who goes the extra mile to ensure that guests have a fabulous stay. This is in relation to the ongoing building work near the house, which has been mentioned in other reviews as having no impact, but for us, this was not the case. Maybe it was because it was winter and the actual phase of the work itself?? The dedicated parking space is great, and most likely usually hassle-free. For us, it wasn't: the very strong winds meant that debris and materials from the building work were blowing about, and sometimes had to be removed from on and around the car. There were a few occasions when the work vans parked in our space and were requested to move for us. This might seem trivial, but given the limited public parking in Alnmouth, the dedicated parking space is brilliant. On other occasions the entrance to the parking space was completely blocked. The guys were very polite when asked to move their vans or let us through, but we felt a bit like an inconvenience to them. We were amazed they were even doing building work during some of the weather! We realise some of this irritation is unavoidable during building work, but given the compact area being built on, it does have an impact. Having said this, we would recommend Malcolm Miller House and would definitely return, though we would check first that the building work had been completed.

  • "Only downside was the rug in the twin room was wrinkled up and we could not fix it ourselves."

Had to be careful not to trip on it.

  • "We had lovely time at Malcolm Miller House."

Alnmouth is lovely and we found the property to be well equipped and Sam was great at checking everything was OK. The rooms are large and comfortable. The kitchen was great and well equipped. Also having a dedicated parking spot in Alnmouth is a real bonus. Would love to stay again.

  • "Inside the apartment and equipment were lovely (except lounge\ diner was dark due to closeness of outside wall and frosted glass window)."

However outside was disappointing. Our apartment was not on the photo shown but some way up the back pathway and during the day our outside was quite dismal. We had difficulty finding the location despite the email from Sam as it was up a drive marked private and we were not sure it was the correct street. We asked several times and no one seemed to know the location. We were on a building site with workmen and and equipment constantly around the driveway making it awkward sometimes to move around! They even parked in our car parking space so we had nowhere to park as other spaces were also taken. No information about rubbish bins and we never did find a blue bin for general waste! Had to enquire about wifi connection as information in manual was incorrect. Not a relaxing experience!

Apologies that you couldn’t find the property it can be difficult to see for such a small village. With regard to the building work it must be noted that this is clearly mentioned in the description and can be seen by guests when booking. It will hopefully all be completed by September/ October. The price of the property in this premium location takes into consideration the building work that is happening. The lounge can be quite dark due to the stained glass windows, but, this is a beautiful listed property. Property Owner

  • "We really enjoyed staying here, very clean and comfortable, great location."

The main bedroom has a lovely view of the estuary. It was very quiet, no traffic or people passing by but just a few minutes from the main street or the beach. The house is well equipped and the shower is easy to use. The owners kindly left biscuits for people and the dog, and a handy dog towel for muddy feet. We couldn't hear or feel the nearby building site, and the builders were very mindful of people walking past so no worries there. We would definitely stay again, and have recommended it to friends and family.
