  • "A great place to stay, comfortable and very well located, just outside of the town walls."

    The car parking is round the back of the property so you have to walk around to the rear, along the street but not a problem as you can unload your car and then park up. I would recommend staying here for the quality of the accommodation and it's location.

  • "The property was well furnished & clean."

    It was a good place to stay & whilst it was well maintained & had quality furnishings we were still able to feel relaxed & comfortable. It was an ideal location for Alnwick town, a bonus to easily pop out & have lots of facilities on the doorstep. A further bonus was the car parking space; it was easy to go out for the day knowing we didn’t need to worry about where to park on our return. We have family members close by so I would look at the availability of this property again when next in the area.

  • "Overall good experience but a few niggles."

    No chair in bedroom. Bedroom chest of drawers near window unusable as drawers falling down between runners. Access instructions a bit confusing - had to seek help from resident on Hotspur Place.

  • "A lovely apartment, well situated and with everything we needed."

    One v minor gripe - could not open any windows.

    The widows are on old catches, we’re not allowed to replace them unfortunately. But the side bay windows do open and there is a window pole provided in the hallway cupboard. Sometimes changes in temperature can make them a little temperamental. Thank you for your comments on the apartment as a whole, hope you enjoyed you stay. Property Owner

  • "Noisy. This is a beautiful apartment but let down badly by noise."

    There is a lot of noise from the road but even worse is the noise from the floorboards of the apartment above. If that is not an issue for you then this would make a perfect stay, but it badly disturbed our sleep and affected our enjoyment of the apartment.

  • "A well appointed,equipped and comfortable apartment."

    Well situated for amenities in Alnwick and surrounding countryside. Replacing 2 x 2 seater settees with comfortable armchairs would make reading/TV viewing more pleasant. Bedside tallboys inconvenient for placing bedside light and other items within easy reach (left hand unit drawers drop out) - perhaps lower units? Correct large wall clock to BST. Secure shower room toilet seat. Mildly intrusive noise from creaking floor of apartment above esp in morning.

  • "Instructions about parking, unloading and key collection a bit confusing."

    More detail needed. Entrance hall and stairs dark until we spotted the light switches, a bit of a fusty smell. 1st impression of the apartment itself were very favourable. Unfortunately when it came to preparing the 1st nights meal and looking at all the table wear closely it was all greasy and dirty, still with dried on bits of food(looked like a pasta sauce). As we always choose properties with dishwashers this wasn’t a problem we had expected to find. So before we could cook we had to wash sufficient crockery which delayed our meal considerably. On the 2nd evening we discovered why the tableware was dirty, we couldn’t get the dishwasher to work. I phoned the contact number the next morning and spoke to a very understanding and sympathetic person. We were asked to leave the keys in the key safe while we were out during the day. We returned late afternoon to the very welcome sounds of the dishwasher. I had been dreading having to empty the dishwasher and hand wash all the pots again. Strangely though the dishwasher was working via the switch labelled - DO NOT USE rather than the 1 labelled dishwasher??? So we did have a very pleasant stay in the apartment but we had anxious moments about the issue with the dishwasher and worrying that we might end up washing all the pots by hand a 2nd time. Another thing to mention is that Bondgate Without is a very busy road. Anyone familiar with Alnwick would know this but anyone who isn’t, like us, wouldn’t. You do hear the traffic noise from early morning. Strangely though, despite this not being something we are used to, it didn’t disturb us too much. Must be the lovely comfortable bed.

    It is unacceptable that you found the crockery greasy and is of concern to myself and the excellent managed services team at NCCC, it is not a problem we have experienced before. I am pleased to hear the team were prompt and sympathetic in dealing with this issue and it was resolved to your satisfaction. The “Do not use” label should be for the electrical connections to the boiler, which should be left on at all times. I’m not sure how this would affect the dishwasher but I will get the Managed Services Team to look into this. The building is over 100 years old and should be cleaned weekly by the building’s property management team ( this is separate to NCCC). So I will report this to the Directors of Hotspur Court.   • "The apartment is beautiful, very well equipped and feels luxurious."

    There are a couple of observations ; the apartment above has creaky floors, the people upstairs at the beginning of the week were moving around a lot, late at night and we could hear lots of creaking when trying to sleep. We couldn’t get the dishwasher to work, after following instructions, but we didn’t really need it. The airlock in the toilet in the main bathroom was noisy. But we had a fabulous time and would book again.

    Very sorry about the creaky floorboards, it is unfortunately out of our control and highly dependent on visitors to the flat above. Thank you for reporting the dishwasher, will forward that to Managed Services Team. Nevertheless glad you enjoyed the apartment and hope you had a lovely holiday. Property Owner

    Top quality furniture and furnishings. Excellent instructions and facilities. Prime location on the doorstep of the town centre and within easy reach of more places of interest than can be fitted into a week's holiday. Worth every penny.

  • "Everything is great about the property, location and listing."

    The only two downsides were the outside bins (where are they ?) and parking which is a bit of a pain with the poor weather when we were there. Not enough to be a real problem however.

    Thank you very much for your kind feedback. Hopefully you will enjoy better weather on a future visit to Alnwick, it is such a beautiful part of the world. We acknowledge the downsides but it is a historical Alnwick building and unfortunately there is little we can do about some aspects. Originally the apartment was never intended as a holiday let but as our home. The outside bins are to the right of the front door ( if you’re exiting the building), through the archway and to the right in the small garden area, in the large bin shed. Property Owner

  • "The apartment is tastefully furnished and very well equipped."

    Although it is on a busy road, the traffic does quieten down at night. The information folder was comprehensive. The one problem we did have with a window we couldn’t close was resolved very quickly after we reported it.

    The kitchen has everything you need should you wish to fully cater for yourselves. Plenty of wardrobe and storage space too. The apartment is in an excellent location - a short stroll to pubs, shops etc. We had the most wonderful holiday in Alnwick totally enhanced by the accommodation. We certainly will be booking the Bondgate Apartment again.

ALNWICK

Alnmouth 4 miles; Bamburgh 15 miles; Rothbury 10 miles.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market.
