  • "A welcoming, warm & spotlessly clean house with great features & attention to detail."

The lit Christmas tree was a lovely touch on arrival, as were the wine & biscuits. Comfy large beds, large fluffy towels & well equipped kitchen helped to make our stay comfortable & relaxing. Ideally situated in a quiet street close to the town centre we used the local facilities & shops -Barters books, Alnwick Castle, The Tanners Arm, delicious takeaways from Mumbai & Yan restaurants. The file of local information was very useful. We will be looking to book next Spring.

The property is a short walk into town and if you turn left out of the gate Lidl is just two minutes away. Well equipped with everything you need, from towels, dishwasher tablets and a small supply of toilet roll. Very comfortable and will be back.

  • "Lovely house which is comfortable and extremely well equipped."

Its location is so convenient for walking into Alnwick and exploring the local area. We would like to raise the owner’s attention to the tv aerial which was loose and rattles in the wind. This is not a complaint but it does seem to need fixing. We were very happy with our stay.

Beautiful house in a really great location, close to town and other local amenities ( corner shop, supermarket, retail park, beaches etc) Lovely welcome tray was a real treat and the house itself was finished to a higher level than the usual expectations Our first time in Alnwick and Northumberland and Hedwig House helped make sure it won’t be our last

Beautifully decorated and high end appliances and also spotlessly clean. The location is excellent close to shops and restaurants etc and ideally situated for exploring the beautiful Northumberland coast and national park. Would definitely return.

  • "Property was finished up to high standart, with small touches that made our stay welcoming, especially during New Year time."

...was nicely surprised with "welcome basket" :-) We brought own small festive decoration, to make the stay Christmassy :-) hence evenings around a fire place were mine fav place in whole appartment. Small consideration: my 14 years old daughter mentioned that the room in attic was cold despite to hot radiator in it. And the main door to property was not easy to close, we left it always to our daddy to lock it. :-) Overall a great place and very central...We have visited Alnwick previously, during a summer time hence this time our experience was different. We were celebrating New Year with family, in peace and without work distractions. Thank you for relaxing 4 days.

The property benefits from roadside parking and a wonderful front patio with bistro table. The ground floor features a fully-stocked kitchen, perfect for whipping up tasty meals to share with friends and family over a bottle of wine and tunes on the vintage style record player There is a convenient utility room/wc right off the kitchen.

On balmier evenings, why not dine out in the rear enclosed garden?

After dinner, retreat to the light and airy sitting room, where you can relax on the sumptuous seating in front of a film on the Smart TV with Netlifx, as your pooches curl up in front of the open fire. Ascend the stairs to the first floor, where you'll find two exquisitely furnished king-size bedrooms and a luxurious bathroom with a bath and a rainfall shower.

The final bedroom, a twin with zip/link, can be found on the second floor, and features character exposed beams.

About the location

ALNWICK

Alnmouth 4 miles; Bamburgh 15 miles; Rothbury 10 miles.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.
