  • "Everything was perfect in this accommodation."

The communication with Lynsey and John was also very good. I will have fond memories of this great accommodation for a long time.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such lovely feedback. We feel it is a very special place to stay and are pleased you felt that way too. Property Owner

  • "All bedroom doors stick due to paint not dry before closing."

tools for drying bath/shower not supplied

Thank you for your very high score. The minor issues you mention must not have spoiled your holiday. The whole property was recently professionally decorated throughout and all doors were left open to ensure the paint dried thoroughly. As all of the bedrooms are south facing the doors do tend to occasionally catch in the heat but this has never been an issue for other guests. The doors are not difficult to open but just make a small noise occasionally. There is a tool for drying the bath/shower under the sink in the kitchen as not all guests require one. Thank you for taking the time to submit a review. Property Owner

  • "The cottage is lovely, well presented, everything you would need."

My only tiny thing is it need a masher in the kitchen and a sieve or something but didn't matter too much. Beds are lovely and the showers are great. We had a lovely time as did my 2 dogs. The neighbours are also helpful and friendly. Great quiet spot to relax and see the area.

Thank you for your positive feedback. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and there is an electric stick blender instead of a masher in the kitchen and all of the professional pans have in built strainers in the lids and also a vegetable straining server in the utensils pot. However, we are so pleased your family and your two dogs had a lovely time and a quiet and relaxing holiday. Property Owner

  • "Accommodation was perfect, very clean and refurbished to a high standard, very comfy and welcoming."

All rooms were very clean and comfortable, the kitchen had everything you need and the log burner made the slightly chilly evenings very warm and cosy. The location was perfect for me, my partner and our dog with lovely walks directly from the property or if you wish to venture further then Kielder Water is within easy reach and dog friendly or over the boarder to Scotland which is only a few short miles. We drove to the Northumberland coast around Holy Island and Bamburgh for very dog friendly beach walk which took around 1.5hrs through the stunning scenery. We had a great week and would highly recommend.

Thank you for your lovely review. We are so pleased you found the property and location perfect. Our housekeeper and ourselves work hard to provide the very best that we can and your 100% score is much appreciated. We hope you will be able to return another time and explore more of what the area has to offer. Thanks again. Property Owner

Quiet and comfortable and a great space for our family of four and our dog. Lovely to be out walking in the woodland and over towards Kielder.

Thank you for taking the time to review our property and giving a 100% score. We're really pleased you had a lovely break. The woodland accessible from the front door is beautiful and great to explore. Property Owner

The welcome pack of goodies was a lovely surprise. The property was comfortably furnished and had plenty of arts and crafts to admire. Really comfortable beds. The property is immaculate throughout. We would definitely stay there again.

Thank you for your very kind review. We are so pleased you enjoyed the property and had everything you needed. Our housekeeper works very hard to ensure there is a high level of cleanliness throughout. We look forward to welcoming you back again. Property Owner

  • "What a wonderful holiday home!"

Peaceful location and easy to get to. The house was extremely clean and comfortable. Everything we needed was supplied (apart from a wooden spoon which we bought on a trip into town). There was even a lovely welcome pack full of goodies which was much appreciated. The house was tastefully decorated for Christmas. We stayed during the coldest week of the year so the throws in the living room were welcomed. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and giving a full marks rating, we really appreciate it. We stay in the property ourselves and also know it is a lovely retreat even on the coldest of days. Property Owner

  • "The only drawback was the listing described a pub as being 0,2 miles from property open March to Sept - there is a bar restricted to walkers and B&B customers!"

    !!!

Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately the owners of the pub have decided to only open to residents, sadly this is out of our control. However, thank you for scoring 100 for comfort, cleanliness, facilities and maintenance. We welcome you back at any time. Property Owner

  • "A lovely cottage with everything you could need."

It was very clean and quite spacious. A unexpected gift of a bottle of wine and some goodies were there on our arrival, a nice touch. The fully enclosed garden is great and you can let your dog out without worry. The area is beautiful with walks from the house but we didn't realise the local Inn was for residents only, our fault for not researching it properly.

Thank you for your lovely review. We are so pleased you had a good stay and had everything you needed. We are pleased you found the garden great, we have our own dog (who likes to escape) so a totally enclosed and safe garden is essential to us too. We are sorry the local inn is residents only, this is obviously out of our control. We hope you found (in the folder in the lounge) the list of local restaurants in the area we like to go to when we stay at the property. Thanks for staying at Forest Retreat. Property Owner

  • "We had a really enjoyable stay in this very clean and comfortable property."

It has everything that you need and a few extras that mark it out as special. The welcome gift was very much appreciated and the attention to detail, spare food bowl & poo bags for Crosby (springer spaniel) showed great thought and consideration. This little village is very quiet but with an amazing amount of bird life. Also, all the locals were very friendly and helpful. We had a lovely holiday, Thank you.

Thank you so much for your lovely review. We are delighted you had everything you needed and more besides. We think it is a very special place to stay too! We are pleased that you and Crosby had a lovely holiday. Property Owner

  • "Lovely property."

Unfortunately it does not state in the listing that pets are not allowed to be left alone yet it does in the property folder. This was too tying for us as our dog cannot walk all day and is not the ideal dog to take into pubs for meals so we felt it best to come back home and travel from there.

Thank you for your feedback and I'm glad you found the property lovely and thank you for the top cleanliness, comfort and facilities scores. It's a Sykes policy across all their properties that dogs can't be left unattended and the information is in the Sykes booking conditions on the website and I'm so sorry that you were disappointed. The garden was untidy , grass needed cutting and weeding , also a bbq would have been nice. But on the whole we enjoyed our stay

Thank you for your comments. Unfortunately the grass couldn't be cut due to holidays. (Its now been cut and weeded, the day after you left.) Thanks for your comments about the bbq, we will look into buying one. We are pleased the house was lovely inside, spacious and clean and that you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

We’ve been working in the area at a wind farm near Otterburn since new year, staying in a few places since but Forest Retreat is our favourite yet. Lynsey and John are great hosts who reply very quickly and provide lots of info.

  • "This is a lovely house, renovated sympathetically to a high standard."

Felt at home immediately. Thoroughly enjoyable, relaxing stay in the village of Byrness. Loved the forest walks ( just outside the front door!) and it was easy to drive over the border and further explore Northumberland. However, the village pub is only open from April to October. This was not a problem for us but perhaps it should be made clear in listing.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. We are delighted you had such a lovely stay. We will contact Sykes to change the listing to state the opening months of the pub. Property Owner
