  • "We have stayed at Dunstanburgh View before, the improvements to especially the bathroom is great."

During our stay there was a strong easterly wind blowing. Subsequently both the east facing bedrooms were very cold due to poor sealing of windows and door hence the unfavourable Comfort & Facilities and Maintenance ratings.. Rectifying these would be a massive improvement.

  • "Lovely place to stay."

Fantastic views over the castle and pub and hotel close by highly recommended. Only problem was disturbed sleep due to heat exchange system. Don't notice it upstairs but quite loud in main bedroom

  • "Had a lovely stay here, plenty of room for the four of us and a dog."

Was worried as one review had said it was cold but we were happy to find it nice and warm, in fact turned the heating down a lot. Well appointed property with a lovely view. Lovely village also with friendly village pub the Greys Inn. Look forward to visiting again sometime.

  • "We had a lovely week in the property, the view is amazing."

The heater in the downstairs hall area didn't appear to be working and we felt that the heating for the property was inadequate particularly during the high winds when the front door was very draughty. The only room that was really warm was the lovely bathroom. We would return but avoiding the winter months in future.

  • "All good, bar one aspect I’ll come to later: Good: Clean, great location, full of utensils and equipment to meet all holiday needs, great views, very comfortable."

Definitely plan to rebook as soon as we can. Issues: just one, really, and I feel it’s harsh but my wife gets disturbed by noise at night and found the heat pump noisy, claiming it interrupted her sleep. I did suggest she sleep with the bunk beds but she didn’t fancy that, so not sure if a switch around of beds might help?

  • "Hi, We loved the cottage location etc it's amazing."

There are just a couple of things that need attention. The steps on the ladder to the top bunk came away when my son tried to climb them, they need tightening ASAP as this is very dangerous. The large lamp in the lounge doesn't work, not sure why! That aside what an amazing spot we absolutely loved it.

  • "Lovely location, beautiful cottage, views are great, we had great weather, so out everyday, central to most activities along the Northumberland coast."

  • "This cottage is brilliant but be aware that it says single storey and is in fact a split level unit."

You enter the front door at which level is the bathroom, then down stairs to the bedrooms and upstairs to the lounge and kitchen. Amazing views over the nature reserve and coast right through to Dunstanburgh Castle from the balcony. Lovely little garden for the dog too. We loved it. Well equipped and very comfortable.

  • "Lovely property with great views."

Well equipped and clean. Heat pump a little noisy at times in the double bedroom

  • "This property is the perfect place to enjoy the beautiful views of Embleton Bay ."

The view from the lounge window is stunning. Care has been taken to maintain the property to a comfortable standard and we appreciated the warmth we were met with after a long walk. The property was clean and provided everything we needed. The only negative we had was what we think is a late check in and early check out which curtailed our time in the property . We managed without too much difficulty as the weather was fine and it was just the two of us . It might have been different if it had been pouring down and a couple of children in tow. I appreciate check in times affected for deep cleaning during Covid but 5 o clock does seem excessive.

It also has stunning coastal views which make it very special.

Been several times and very relaxed there.

    Dec 2017

  • "Loved this house with fantastic view across fields to the sea and castle."

Easy half mile walk down to dog friendly beach. We love this coastline with almost empty beaches. Climate is dry and great for walking/outdoors pursuits as well as plenty of castles etc. Cottage very well equipped and comfortable with an enclosed garden. Bathroom has everything you need including shower and heated towel rail. Best feature of all was the sunny balcony overlooking the sea.

About the location

EMBLETON

Craster 3 miles; Beadnell 4 miles; Alnwick 7 miles.

The pretty village of Embleton is ideally placed for exploring one of the most attractive stretches of Northumberland's Heritage Coastline. A beautiful grassy path runs from the village to neighbouring Craster, alongside the sea and past Dunstanburgh Castle - the largest ruined castle in Northumberland. Embleton itself has a village pub and a local hotel, and there is an excellent range of amenities in nearby Alnwick. The gardens at nearby Howick Hall are open during the summer and are noted for their beauty, whilst Alnwick Castle and Garden are a 'must-see' when visiting the area. For the keen golfer, Dunstanburgh Links Course is about 1 mile away - just one of several excellent courses in the vicinity.
