  • "We stayed in the Generals Yard last September and enjoyed it, Eyemouth and the surrounding area so much we decided to return for my partner's birthday."

The property really can't be faulted. Finished to a standard far higher than most holiday cottages it feels more like home. It enjoys a fantastic view across the bay from a magnificent first floor picture window. Eyemouth itself is a lovely small town. Worthy of mention are DR Collins fishmongers, Lough's bakers, Giacopazzi's ice cream all of which are within a five minute walk and are truly exceptional. Eyemouth Is surrounded by beautiful coastal walks, St Abbs lighthouse and Spittal beach in Berwick to name but two. For us it's an ideal dog-friendly base in a part of the world we have grown to love. We'll be returning very soon.

It was a pleasure top have you stay once more and we are delighted that you are planning to come back Property Owner

  • "Thank you for taking such care to make sure everything is exactly what you would need when staying in the property and to such a high standard."

The view was just wonderful in all weathers. The photos don’t do it justice - a lovely surprise. Where did you get the little wine glasses? I have been searching for something like them for ages! Thanks for a lovely week.

Thank you for your kind comments Helen - it is so good to see that everything that we planned worked for you. So many glasses today are huge third of a bottle ones so we also wanted to add something smaller too. I can’t remember the exact brand right now but the glasses are a plain lead crystal. I kept the box with all the info on re brand and size, etc. so I’ll take a picture and send it to you when I visit again next weekend. Property Owner

  • "So the challenge I was set by my wife was “it would be great to find a cottage with a view of the sea” What can I say …."

The TV has been on once. The window into the bay is fantastic… relaxing and calming. The photos on the site really don’t do the window and it’s view justice …. The house is great being so new and everything in it the same. Looking to come again.

Thank you for this nice review Kevin we are delighted that you had a nice stay with us and even more delighted to see your booking for the end of this year too and we look forward to welcoming you and your family then. Property Owner

Clean, comfortable, modern. The picture window gave fantastic views of the boats going in and out of harbour, the seals, and the varying weather related sea states. Cannot find fault, have rebooked for next year.

Thank you so much Tracy - we are truly pleased that you enjoyed your second visit and we are delighted to know that you are coming back to visit next year. Property Owner

All the technology is really up to date. Loughs bakery is worth patronising, good bread and only just around the corner, as is Giacopazzi's in the other direction. A very enjoyable week.

  • "This is without doubt one of the finest properties we have stayed in."

It was so well kitted out and no expense has been spared it is simply amazing!. It is in a great location both in terms of the fantastic views and local shops (particularly the home bakery) . The photo of the main window does not really do it justice but in a way that is good because you get a wonderful surprise when you see it for the first time. The owners left us a lovely welcome pack which was greatly appreciated. We took our cat with us and she just loved looking out the windows. All in all I thoroughly recommend this property.

The property is lovely. It's been really well thought out. The first floor living room provides stunning views of the harbour, from which we watched the seals while breakfasting (well worth taking binoculars). The local information provided was a huge help in guiding us around the town. The local fishmonger, baker and the Ship pub are all excellent to say nothing of the italian ice cream. Would we return? Absolutely. Thank you.

  • "The property was superb, the bed the comfiest I’ve ever slept in, and that gorgeous settee."

BUT the technology was a definite downside. It took us two days to get the hob to work - it had been left on child lock. The tv was a nightmare - took us two sessions to get it going, by which time we had missed the programmes we wanted to watch. We only managed to get bbc1 a couple of times the whole week, it kept saying no signal. Other channels seemed ok ish One really, really does not want to spend half of the holiday reading instruction manuals. So, the first couple of days were pretty stressful. It would be an idea to tip off incomers about the child lock on the hob. But a beautiful area and a superb location. And so very comfortable, so thank you for that.

Thank you so much for your feedback and your kind comments concerning the bed and furnishings and the beauty of the location. Thank you also for pointing out the issue with the TV, which we also noted on as part of the changeover checks. This is the first time that this has happened and problem appears to lie with the external dish, which being right on the sea front is really exposed to wind and corrosion and in the light of your experience we are going to get a broadband-based TV system to avoid this in the future. Thank you also for alerting us to the child lock issue, it is the first time that this has been left on but we will now make sure that the hob has been checked for this issue before every stay. I know this won't change your experience with these elements but we are acting on your concerns right away and are grateful for your visit and helpful comments. Property Owner

You have really thought of everything that could be needed and then some. It might just be the best equipped property we have stayed in. The property was spacious, clean and comfortable, especially the giant sofa with the amazing views. We were in the area for a lot of site seeing and the location was spot on for this but returning to this place each evening was a joy.

Could get some channels using Netflix There was no clean bedding had to wash the sheets several times- Comfortable beds the whole house was well furnished outside space is important perhaps some chairs could be left buy the front door and a small table also an instrument to put your shoes into and hanging up bulky coats etc Fire alarms the one in the kitchen it is placed to near the appliances we're making toast every fire alarm went off we could not turn it off for a considerable length of time it makes a very piercing alarming sound Therefore we were unable to cook any food due to the sensitivity the alarms The instructions to use the kitchen appliances we're very complicated in the end we just give up unable to use stove- kitchen hub microwave or the - radios No outside space it's a problem the back door can only be used in an emergency in case of fire The wet room didn't seem to drain the water out after a shower the room stayed wet for hours did try to mop it up unfortunately the mop provided was in adequate However that is multiple chairs and gardening equipment , there is an adjoining neighbors who was very nosey and intrusive

First of all, thank you very much for your positive comments on the quality of the beds and furnishing of the house! On your last day you texted us to ask if we could extend your stay, so we are surprised to see such feedback left, and are very sorry to hear that you experienced a few issues whilst there. As soon as we were notified that you were unable to operate the TV, microwave and oven, we immediately provided instructions to you, with an invitation to call us if you needed further assistance. We did not hear back from you following our contact attempts, so we were unaware that you were having any continuing difficulties. On inspection, we found the Broadband was working normally. All bedlinen was freshly laundered and a full set of spare bedding was available as mentioned in the welcome pack. If you had let us know that you were likely to require more spare bedding we would, of course, have provided it. There is no garden or courtyard space, as is evident from the description and photographs on Sykes’ website, and the property opens immediately onto the seafront and beach. There is however a public seating area with benches and picnic tables opposite the front door. The property is also equipped with coat hooks and sufficient storage for both clothing and shoes. The house is newly built and complies with the latest regulations. There is a smoke/heat sensor in the cooking area as it is legally required. There is a signposted fire escape door in the utility room, which opens directly into our neighbour’s courtyard. Regarding drainage; there is also a separate, second shower and toilet, which means there is always a dry lavatory available if required, following someone else using the wetroom. Your feedback is appreciated and we will in future provide a spare mophead. We do our very best to ensure that our guests have everything they need to enjoy a relaxing and comfortable holiday and we will do our utmost to solve any difficulties we are made aware of during their stay. We are very sorry we were unable to extend your holiday as requested this time. Property Owner
