  • "It was our first visit to Northumberland and definitely won’t be our last."

Dryden cottage was perfect for our half term family break. The cottage was in a great location with great views of Bamburgh castle, and facilities in the cottage were spot on. No complaints, it was great value for money we’ll definitely be returning.

  • "This is a wonderful cottage with everything you need to make it home from home."

It is so clean and comfortable, with a great layout. Good parking and a great front and rear gardens. It has an excellent information pack with everything you need to know about facilities, amenities and everywhere you can visit in Northumberland. We highly recommend this property and would love to return sometime in the future.

  • "Well equipped cottage , good parking had a wonderful week on the outskirts of bamburgh only slightly disadvantage as the walk into bamburgh was on the side of a country road which vehicles often travelled quite fast on ."

    Would definitely stay again

  • "We stayed for a week in this beautiful cottage."

Very peaceful and an excellent base for exploring Northumberland. The cottage is very well equipped and maintained with the most powerful shower we’ve EVER experienced! Gave a 4 for comfort because of the sofas, my husband is 6ft 4” and they weren’t quite deep enough (picky I know). Would 100% recommend and would stay again.

  • "We enjoyed our stay at Dryden cottage."

Our main problem was the shower tap that I couldn’t t turn on. Had to ask Hubbie to turn the shower on for me each time. We reported this to Sykes cottages and a man came the same day to look at it. He said that the on off valve is very tight and could do with a new one We also found we couldn’t t get hot water….eventually found a switch on the wall. Information about this would have been helpful But overall we enjoyed our stay thankyou.

  • "One of the switches had tripped in the electric cupboard."

We found out 4 hours into our stay and realised the fridge hadn't been working since our arrival. We phoned for help but while waiting managed to work out the solution for ourselves. Not a complaint as such but just a word of caution to ensure these things are checked as it was a stressful start to a much needed break.

The electric triped think it was the dishwasher at fault but turned off fridge freezer and kettle too could not get in contact as was given wrong number Not 24/7 cover we couldn't reach fuse box and had to get next door to do for us also had to borrow there tin opener as ours was useless The beds were very comfortable and cottage nearly spotless just a few issues microwave not cleaned skirting not dusted the seating outside is next to the wheelybins and smell could do with moving otherwise everything ok

  • "We have stayed at Dryden cottage on several occasions and always found it to be very clean and well presented."

The bed is very comfortable and all amenities on hand to make for a very pleasant and relaxing stay. An excellent location with fantastic views out to Bamburgh Castle. The cottage is peaceful but well placed to explore the fantastic Northumbrian coastline and surrounding countryside. And Bamburgh village is just a short walk away. We have another 2 bookings for the remainder of the year and always look forward to returning to this special place. Gary and Chris June 2023.

  • "A fantastic property, location, and perfect for the capture of the Aurora."

Dryden Cottage was spotlessly clean, warm, and had everything we required. My only niggle, and a small niggle at that. Is it would’ve been nice after a long journey, to have had Tea, Coffee, Milk, and Sugar on arrival for a brew. We would 150% stay again. But please please bigger TV. Thankyou for a lovely stay, and Northumberland experience.

  • "*we had no wifi our whole stay, we appreciate all efforts that were made by the owner but it resulted in my husband losing a weeks work as sitting in the owners other property that was next door didn't work for us as meant as a family we were seperated from 4pm every day."

*The dishwasher isn't attached to the wall properly and falls forward when opened. *The kitchen light was very temperamental and didn't turn on every time. *

I am so sorry the wi-fi was not working during your stay but it was out of my control to get it fixed for you as BT could only give me an appointment for the Saturday after your departure. I have had someone to look at the dishwasher and to sort the lights out in the kitchen. I really do appreciate your feedback and hope to see you return to Glororum in the future. Property Owner

About the location

BAMBURGH

Seahouses 3.5 miles; Beadnell 5.1 miles; Alnwick 16.9 miles.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.
