  • "We loved our stay at the Red Barn."

It is a well equipped, comfortable and spacious property in a quiet location but with easy access to the A1 and local attractions. The owners had decorated it beautifully for Christmas and it was a real ‘home from home’ for us. We will definitely stay there again.

  • "Our third visit to the Red Barn did not disappoint."

The owners must work extremely hard to keep this property in excellent condition and it is spotlessly clean. The location is superb with a very pleasant seating area outside and lovely views. The Running Fox is only minutes away and their food is second to none. Also the Cook and Barker Inn which we visited twice offers a superb menu at a reasonable price. This property deserves its outstanding rating and I would recommend it to those wanting a peaceful break in this beautiful county.

  • "We throughly enjoyed our stay at the Red Barn."

The house was beautiful and immaculate. It had everything you could possibly need. We didn’t want to leave! The owners were lovely, on hand if you should need them but not intrusive. We arrived to beautiful flowers, cake, wine and some little treats, which we thought was such a lovely, thoughtful welcome. The house is perfectly placed to explore many of the amazing places in Northumberland. There is so much to do. The village itself is so lovely and we would also highly recommend a visit to The Running Fox cafe. We hope to visit again.

  • "Fantastic holiday at The Red Barn."

The owners were very welcoming and the property had everything you could need for a relaxing break, a real home from home. We used it as a base to tour Northumberland, which none of us had visited before and being quite central we were able to see a lot of this amazing county. Thank you for a lovely holiday.

Property is in a beautiful setting and was very clean. Just one negative and that is the bathroom of the second double bedroom. It is extremely small and instead of a shower over bath a walk-in shower would be better. Great week and very nice owner.

You can reach many attractions within 30min - 1hr including Seahouses/Bamburgh/Morpeth/Alnwick and many others. On arrival there was a bottle of wine, lemon drizzle cake, just lovely and needed after a 3hr drive. Lovely owner, extremely helpful with attractions and surrounding area, walks etc. Beautiful scenery and a much needed relaxing break.

  • "The best holiday we’ve had in a LONG time!"

Gillian and Steve are fantastic hosts. The Red Barn is perfect! From the welcoming gifts - flowers, cake, wine and chocolates - to departing, every detail had been thought of (including bath robes). We even had the pleasure of meeting the family pets. Having three en-suite bedrooms was a real bonus and made getting ready to go out really easy for a family of 6. Longframlington is in an ideal spot for visiting Cresswell Beach, Craster, Alnwick, Sycamore Gap and Hadrian’s wall. We had a fantastic day in Bamburgh, Seahouses and back to the beach. Thank you for a brilliant holiday!

The cottage was warm, spacious, well equipped & comfortable. Lots of extras provided like tea, coffee, milk, cake, flowers & toiletries etc. Comfy beds, all bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, plus a downstairs cloakroom, separate large dining room & huge kitchen - meaning lots of space. Nice peaceful surroundings, yet not far to travel to all of the tourist attractions. Highly rated.

  • "A beautiful property in a lovely location, the house is well equipped and comfortable."

The only disappointment was the lack of outside space, it would have been ideal if we could have had access to at least some of the garden, but we were restricted to the patio area which had close proximity to the neighbouring house. Also, not comfortable with the owner accessing the house at any time they felt like it. Not had this situation in any cottage we’ve hired before. To sum up Red Barn is a great space for families or groups due to the ensuites but perhaps more of a winter retreat than summer.

The Wi Fi worked perfectly. The local pub & restaurants were friendly and served very enjoyable food Gillian was on hand to give any help required, and tips on places to visit We had a great holiday. thank you!

Every little thing that we could possibly have needed was provided plus more. The house has three double bedrooms with their own en suites which our mothers loved. The kitchen had every pan and utensil that anyone could ever need. The living room and log burner ...amazing. The wine and cake when we arrived were lovely as well as the little bowl of chocolates in the lounge and the bubble bath/shower gel in each of the en suites. The owner Gillian checked everything was up to our expectations on our arrival and recommended local attractions. Lots of information in the house re walks etc In summary ....just lovely

  • "Excellent accommodation."

Only one negative, the advert on sykes includes a picture of a garden. Which makes you think that the barn has a garden. The garden in the picture is infact that of the owners next door and not for use of the rental property. Very misleading. The advert would be more accurate by not including this picture of the garden and stating that it doesn't have a garden.

The amount of equipment in the property is exceptional. It was so good to be able to fill the dishwasher and still have some crockery to use. The garden is large and interesting and our 15 year old grandson was able to do his football training on the large lawn without damaging anything ! There are many beaches and places of interest to visit from here without traveling very far.

  • "The red barn is a fantastic holiday cottage which has been built to a high specification."

This extends to the furniture and all finishing materials (granite worktops, real stone, etc etc). The showers are all high pressure and very hot. The kitchen is well equipped and the cutlery/crockery is also all high quality. The huge fridge is a great addition and makes it easy to have enough in for a week. The only thing which was a notable let down were the mattresses. With the exception of the master bedroom where the mattress was comfortable enough, the other double and both single beds were rather awful. They are old spring mattresses and are noticeably uncomfortable. This is the only issue in an otherwise fantastic holiday cottage. We would stay again if the mattresses were changed but otherwise the disrupted sleep doesn't make up for the brilliant rest of the house.

The views were lovely and the extra touches made it special eg wine and cake on arrival and toweks/bath robes. There was also loads to do and we had great day out at Cragside as recommended by the owners. We also visited the nearby zoo and had a bracing but fun cycle along the coast to Amble.
