  • "Accessibility a real problem for normal cars."

Doesn’t live up to 5 tick rating. Getting to the cottage is a real problem for normal cars. A long, rough, very potholed track - difficult to avoid scraping the bottom of the car - quite stressful. We would hesitate to recommend the cottage for this reason. Apart from that there are lots of positives. It's spacious and generally well equipped. Big, interesting garden. Good location (once you've overcome the track) for the southern Peak District. Kids loved the hot tub. You can also walk into the interesting town of Belper. But the 5 ticks from Sykes (and the price) comes with certain expectations- and it didn't match those expectations. None of the problems are major, you can live with them, but that is not what is expected. A list: Several of the bedrooms have no wardrobe or hanging space (living out of a suitcase isn’t luxury) On arrival you are met with the barn full of unsightly rubbish (it's out of sight from the house though) The garden could do with a decent tidy-up. Things that are missing: black rubbish bags, tea towels, washing up scrubbers (all these were provided when asked). Also enough soap, dishwasher tablets, washing detergent, paper towels. There has become an expectation of a bit of a welcome pack. Sorry to sound ungrateful but one bottle of wine and one packet of crisps amongst 12 people doesn’t really cut it. Could also do with checking that pots and pans have been washed up properly - which they weren't

Thank you for your feedback. Please note that the road has now been fixed and the holes have been filled, so the access should no longer be an issue. We appreciate your feedback and will take those points on board. Property Owner

  • "Access road condition dreadful and very difficult to drive for anything but a 4by4."

Beds not made up as requested. Insufficient crockery, glasses, cutlery( only 12 of everything). Refuse area cluttered with rubbish as was the summer house. Mice in kitchen and sitting room! Problems with cold water in kitchens, wine fridge not working, shower problems. Some of these were resolved after contacting owner. Owner did try to sort some of the problems. These could be problems associated with recent change of ownership. If this is your premier property you should be aware and concerned about these matters. You may want to publish this feedback - see below!

Please note that the road has now been fixed and the holes have been filled, so the access should no longer be an issue. Thank you for your review and we are sorry you didn’t feel everything was adequate although we did respond to all issues quickly and resolved them. The bed request was an error by Sykes which was resolved within just a few hours. The house sleeps 12 and so we provide 12 sets of crockery. However upon your feedback there are now 16 sets of plates and bowls, thank you. The issues with the cold water and shower were fixed the next day, and we weren’t informed about the mice until after your stay but this has been dealt with (unfortunately we are in the countryside and this can happen from time to time, although we have systems in place to deter it which have been renewed). • "We have just returned from a weeks stay at Wildersley Farm."

I can honestly say it was a wonderful property furnished to a very high standard. It is clear to see why this property won a bronze award. It is lovely and spacious and was very clean and tidy. We had 12 guests (age range 7-80) and all had a wonderful time. There are great walks on the doorstep and the hot tub was also top of the range. There are also nice outdoor seating areas for the summer months We met Gary the owner who was very nice and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend this property and hope to return one day!

Thank you for your lovely feedback, we’re so glad you enjoyed the stay and hope your father had a wonderful surprise birthday! Property Owner

  • "The house is magnificent, extremely well equipped and appointed to a very high standard with remarkable attention to detail."

It's location, just 5 minutes drive to shops, restaurants and pubs but half a mile down a farm track makes it convenient yet quiet and peaceful, and it's very accessible to the local attractions.

  • "This is our second time at the property."

We chose to eat in a lot of the time and the layout of the property, particularly the kitchen/dining room, allows you to do this with comfort. It is a good location which allows you to reach most local attractions within a short time. We had a great time.

  • "The most amazing house!"

Cannot fault a single thing, it felt like a luxury 5 star resort. Spotlessly clean, beautiful interior design, perfect blend of modern and character property, stunning garden and views, even the hot tub was high end. And a lovely touch having dressing gowns and slippers for everyone to use. We had the best girly pamper weekend. The house was like our own private spa! I would highly recommend and I can’t wait to come back again.

  • "This property exceeded our expectations."

It is a stunning, luxury holiday home in a beautiful and secluded location. Every detail had been thought of to ensure that we had a relaxing and enjoyable stay. We will not hesitate to recommend it to others and would be keen to stay again. The only minor change we would make would be to have a small fridge in the bar area but this is only a recommendation for future stay.

  • "1 or 2 little niggly problems which we reported."

Property desperately needs a second fridge - 1 standard fridge for 12 people is not enough. A second fridge in the bar for drinks (beer, mixers, etc) would do the job. On the whole, had a fabulous time at a very luxurious property.

We will definitely be going back one day with family .The house was so lovely we never left it all weekend and so would have loved to be staying longer. Thank you so much.
