The owners have renovated this property to a very high standard, they are very welcoming and on hand if you have any problems without being invasive. It really is a home from home.

  • "Fabulous property."

Great views. Stayed for a week. Three large bedrooms with excellent bedding and ensuite. Owner very helpful with setting up sofa bed on mezzanine and getting a travel cot. Clean and bright. We spent a lot of time indoors as the weather was awful. Very generous welcome pack including a gingerbread Christmas Tree! Well equipped kitchen. Both local pubs were excellent and served great food. Negatives are small ones: no pint glasses, no large mugs, no kitchen towel and only one loo roll per toilet. Boot room needs wall hooks for the tons of outdoor coats we had! Would certainly rebook. Thanks

We're delighted you enjoyed your stay despite the bad run of weather. Thank you for suggested improvements. We look forward to seeing you again. Best, Chris, Virginia and Shelley Property Owner

  • "This is a beautiful property renovated to a high standard."

It's clean, warm and comfortable. It has great views over the countryside and is in a quiet location. The open plan kitchen/diner/lounge is a wonderful space to relax in. Shelley and the owners were really accommodating and friendly, and followed up with all the questions we had. This was for a special occasion (my Mum's 60th) so we were really pleased that it felt special and went so well.

We are really pleased you had a lovely time and enjoyed your mums special birthday at Rowtor. Thank you for taking the time to write a review and your lovely comments. Kind regards Chris, Virgina and Shelley Property Owner

Winster 1.3 miles; Bakewell 5.4 miles; Matlock 5.5 miles.

The picturesque gritstone village of Birchover is believed to once have been used by Druids as a ceremonial worship site. There’s a rock formation called Rowtor Rocks, with caves and carvings, prehistoric monuments and stone circles, including The Nine Ladies overlooking the village on Stanton Moor, where you can also find the Cork Stone. At Robin Hood's Stride and Cratcliffe Tor, a medieval hermit's cave can also be explored. Just five miles away, the popular town of Matlock, together with its neighbour, Matlock Bath, has been attracting visitors to the area since the spa was developed in the late 17th century. Set in the beautiful wooded gorge of the River Derwent, the Matlocks offer a range of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as a host of attractions including Gulliver’s Kingdom and the Peak District Mining Museum. Magnificent views down the gorge can be enjoyed from the cable car which takes visitors up to the Heights of Abraham. In the opposite direction is the market town of Bakewell, and a little further beyond lies Chatsworth House and Park.
