  • "Lovely New Year's stay for myself and partner."

Greeted by Julie who showed us round and was even kind enough to leave a freshly baked loaf and bottle of prosecco. The cottage is small but very cosy, quaint and spotless. We didn't get out as much as we wanted due to bad weather but that didn't matter because of how relaxing it was at the cottage. Personal faves was the bathroom and bedroom mattress was super comfy. Local Village of Diggle and Uppermill had lots of nice pubs and restaurants as well. Would stay again 100% ☺️

Thank you so much Stephen. We’d love to have you stay with us again. Property Owner

  • "Lovley apartment in a handy location for Nortyhen Peak District with (almost) everything you need."

Lovley comfortable bed, powerful shower with hot water, hugh bath, comfy sofa, good wifi and all very well equipt. Lovley welcome pack too (Thank you..) Only thing missing was a frying pan...... Only other thing to note was little or no info on whats expected when leaving the property (such as what to do with the towels, bed linen, recycling or rubbish disposal etc so I hope what we did was ok) and lack of TV signal in bedroom (We didnt mention it at the time as it was not important to our trip..) but nothing to worry about.. Nice stay even if the weather was miserable but can recommend walking along the canal especially to Grampa Greens Ice cream shop, Albion Farm shop worth a visit too.. Further afield the town of Holmfirth and the Carding Shed are well worth a trip out. Thank you for a lovley (if wet!!) weekend...

Thank you for your comprehensive, positive feedback Paul, we’re so glad you enjoyed your stay with us. There are 2 frying pans in the drawer beneath the oven….apologies for not highlighting that! Regarding linen, towels and rubbish - you left our cottage perfect, however, to avoid confusion we will update our ‘welcome information’ to provide instructions for future guests. We will definitely check if there is an ongoing issue with the TV signal, hopefully it was a one off as it hasn’t been mentioned before. Thanks again. Property Owner

  • "A very charming and compact well presented cottage for 2 with nearly all the facilities on one level."

The welcome pack was exceptional, including home made bread! The cottage was immaculately clean and well equipped. A larger fridge would have been useful for us. It was our first visit to the area with a number of visitor attractions and opportunities for outdoor activities.

Thank you for your kind words Steve, we’re glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We’ve taken your feedback on board and replaced the fridge with an 87 litre fridge/freezer….so thank you for highlighting that. Property Owner

About the location

UPPERMILL

Diggle 3 miles; Oldham 5 miles; Huddersfield 15 miles.

Uppermill is one of seven villages situated amongst the 18,0000 acres of moorland hills, open fields and scenic valleys that comprise the Saddlworth area. These Pennine villages have a wool spinning and agricultural heritage dating back to the Industrial Revolution, but today Saddleworth has evolved into an attractive South Pennine and Peak District National Park area with breathtaking views and glorious stone built buildings. Upper Mill is a thriving village popular with tourists with a good range of amenities including plenty of restaurants, cafes and pubs, as well as a growing number of craft shops. Part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, it is located close to the recently restored Standedge Canal Tunnel, Britain's longest, deepest and highest canal tunnel. The canal which runs through the town provides opportunities for traffic-free walks along the towpath, fishing and boating. There is one unique sport local to Uppermill called "cobbling". It involves a barrel of cobblestones, a closed road and a bag of cement - come and visit to find out more. Saddleworth is home to a wide range of festivals and community events, the most famous of which is the Whit Friday Band contest, which attracts the UK’s and Europe’s top brass bands and was the backdrop to the film ‘Brassed Off’. Nearby attractions include Dovestones Reservoir for boating and walks, and the Castleshaw Valley with an interpretation trail for a Roman fort, the highest of a series built on the Roman military road from Chester to York.
