  • "We have had a lovely break at School House Cottage."

The location was perfect, remote but easy access to towns and great Pubs that let dogs in. The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped with everything you need for your stay. The log burner was a real treat, not a necessity as the heating was very adequate, but lovely to sit in front of in the evenings. Hope to return again, Liz & Mick Jones & Pip

The night sky, when clear, was amazing! The location was perfect, very peaceful and remote, yet not too far from towns such as Buxton and Leek. Would recommend visiting Tittesworth Reservoir and Rudyard Lake for circular walks with lovely views. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would book again.

A thoughtfully laid out cottage that's well appointed. Jo was very helpful in preparing us for our visit. Considering it was a wet, mid February visit this cottage came up trumps. Nice for cleaning boots, trousers and our Jack Russell outside. Great woodburner to add to the atmosphere. Highly recommend this cottage.

It’s a lovely, cosy little detached property set in open countryside with extensive views across the surrounding rolling landscape. The cottage itself is well furnished and equipped with everything you could need as well as being warm and very clean. It’s in a great location for some of the classic Peak District walks.

Location perfect, off grid enough to be able to switch off but only 20-30 minutes away from places like Buxton and Bakewell which are stunning towns. The Cottage perfect, every thing you could possibly want or need accommodated for, views more stunning than the pictures shown on the website. Communication with the host perfect, was everything we needed but if we had needed more I could tell it wouldn’t have been an issue to contact further. Thank you for having us

  • "4 mugs. 5 teaspoons."

Not enough really is it, especially when there's next to no dishwasher tablets. Certainly didn't come away from home to wash up more times than I would at home. Comfortable furniture for relaxing if it's a bit manky outside and you don't really want to go out. Nope. Uncomfortable stuff so you're forced out. At least the beds not to bad. Perfect shower if you want it freezing or scalding. Some instruction leaflet might help, but not like the dishwasher one for a different model. Clean though. Not sure that's enough for 4 or more stars on Sykes

We are so very sorry that you did not enjoy your stay and that you experienced inclement weather. We always appreciate such constructive comments and thank you so very much for taking the time to provide your valued feedback. Property Owner

! Beautiful setting, very clean, tidy and comfortable. Loads of equipment in the kitchen and the owner has said that they will add some kitchen scales and a roasting tin because we could have done with those. What more can I say??....great dog walking straight from the house, good location for visiting Buxton and Leek, great walking to be had at Tittesworth Reservoir and The Roaches, to name but two locations. Highly recommended! I just wish we could afford the summer price!

It was spotlessly clean and had all of the creature comforts to make our holiday memorable. The heating was very efficient, the wood burner added that extra something, just remember to bring your own logs. The bed was very comfy and the bath was lovely albeit a bit of a struggle to get out of (probably an age thing). The location was extremely quiet with far ranging views and lots of wildlife in the adjoining fields. We saw a pair of Hares most days which was a real treat. There are walks and cycling from the doorstep and 3 main cycling/walking trails are within easy reach. We rarely stay in the same cottage more than once but this one is different. We felt so at home that we would love to come back sometime. Many Thanks to Jo for the welcome provisions and for helping make it a holiday to remember. Nick n Sal

And enough hot water to fill it. The only negative thing (in my opinion) was the lounge seating wasn’t that comfortable, after a long day walking I like to relax in a comfy chair and put my feet up, and this wasn’t possible, I think a little rethinking and removing one of the tables this would be possible.
