  • "The property was lovely, really clean and comfortable."

The directions given need updating though as we were directed to turn up the road prior to Barney Mains.

  • "We had a lovely week at this cosy cottage."

It's on a lovely quiet lane, overlooking the nearby farm fields, but it's also just a few minutes from the A1 and Haddington. So, great for getting into Edinburgh or heading to the coast. The beds were very comfortable and we all slept well! The property was well equipped and nicely furnished too. The small garden was completely enclosed for our dog and we could go for walks right from our door. We'd definitely stay again. Thank you for your prompt replies to a couple of queries we had. Very friendly owners.

  • "A very comfortable, well presented holiday cottage, highly recommended."

Good location for exploring Edinburgh and the Lothians. This area offers a range of activities for most age groups, although a car is useful to get to see the sights or to get to the railway station for easy access to Edinburgh City.

The personal touches, high chair and cot bed made our trip. We will definitely be coming back. The cottage was immaculate, spacious quiet and close to everywhere we wanted to see. Thank you again.

About the location

HADDINGTON

Gullane 8 miles; North Berwick 9.5 miles; Dunbar 11 miles; Edinburgh 18.7 miles

Twenty miles east of Edinburgh is the small town of Haddington, which has long been the cultural and geographical centre for East Lothian, and sits on the north-east bank of the River Tyne. Once famous for its mills, it was also the fourth-largest town in Scotland during the Middle-Ages, and went on to be the centre of the Scottish Agricultural Revolution.
The medieval layout of the town has been little altered since then, and to preserve the historic buildings the government rehabilitated many of Haddington's structures to ensure their preservation. Nowadays, Haddington is a beautiful market town, rich in history and with many attractions. Travel over to Lennoxlove House, one of Scotland’s most ancient and notable houses, in the middle of an extensive estate, or roam about the Butterdean Wood amongst the rich selection of flora and fauna, where Roe deer graze and the birdlife is vast. Play some holes at the long-established Haddington Golf Club where visiting parties are welcome, and you can relax in the clubhouse afterwards. Haddington will serve you as the perfect location to explore this gorgeous county of East Lothian.
