  • "Cute little cottage, very convenient location."

Nice and quiet location Property has everything you need for a good week walking and exploring in the borders. The owners had the heating set up nicely, but a few times I felt the cottage was cold, could be the property would benefit from double glazed front and rear doors, and bathroom window too, that said it was very cold for the first part of our visit or maybe that it was a stone cottage and the heat was lost that way. All things considered we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would go again.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the cottage, its location and the surrounding area. Although a heating schedule is set, guests are able to boost the heating at any time and information about this is included in the information folder. Alternatively we are always happy to help. Best wishes. Property Owner

  • "This was our first visit to Wyndhead cottage, and we weren't disappointed."

It was spotlessly clean, bright and roomy. Having Netflix on the smart TV was an extra bonus as we didn't go out in the evenings. We also ate in every night and the lovely modern kitchen contained everything we needed. Although the weather wasn't conducive to sitting in the garden, it is bigger than we expected, and we loved watching the antics of the birds flying in and out. I would highly recommend this lovely cottage, we are planning on returning next year. Many thanks to Mary and Brian for the very generous welcome pack - and particularly the scones - they were delicious.

Thanks Moyra and Brian. It means a lot to us that you enjoyed the cottage, it's facilities and the resident wildlife! We look forward to welcoming you back sometime. Best wishes. Property Owner

There was a lovely welcome basket with fresh scones, biscuits etc which was much appreciated. Ideally situated to visit all the lovely towns in the Scottish Borders. Lots of walks in the area and within easy reach of Stow where you can get a train to Edinburgh. It is worth a drive to Stow just for the beautiful scenery. We have stayed in several cottages over the last few years and this one has gone to the top of our list

Set over two floors, this cottage is a charming escape for families and friends seeking a base in the picturesque Scottish Borders.

After finding the off-road parking, take a moment to appreciate the fresh Scottish air before getting to know your new home-from-home.

A homely sitting room will welcome your return after a long day, complete with plush sofa and smart tv, so you can easily catch up on your favourite shows.

Allow the house chef to become acquainted with a fully-equipped kitchen appointed with all the essentials for a week away; set the dining table for a tasteful feast, toasting to a much-needed break with your nearest and dearest.

As you look to unwind there is a king and twin bedroom to choose from, both neutrally presented and featuring ample storage space.

If you can tear yourself away, the market town of Lauder is filled with an impressive range of tasteful eateries, pubs and grocers, along with a delicatessen, award-winning butchers, Artisan bakery, pharmacy, gallery coffee shop and Leisure Centre so all your needs are catered for.

One of the best ways to explore the town is to follow the 1.25-mile Lauder Trail, crossing through the historical attractions and amenities.

History buffs should visit the turreted Scots Baronial Thirlestane Castle, one of the oldest inhabited houses in Scotland, or see the Soutra Aisle, the remains of the House of the Holy Trinity and one of the most important institutions in medieval Scotland.

If you happen to visit in August, join the celebrations for the Common Riding summer festival with events displaying the beauty of the town’s rich history.

Keen walkers can join the Southern Upland Way virtually on your doorstep, with many other local walks helping you enjoy the beautiful Scottish Borders.

It’s not news to us, but now Lonely Planet has officially named the Scottish Borders as one of the best destinations to visit in 2023 reflecting its rich history and fascinating literary connections.
