    Lovely host livery property. Had a fantastic week walking in and around the Stiperstones. The property is in a perfect location for a quiet break away from it all. Very comfy and well prepared property. We will definitely be returning again. Many thanks to Priscilla for the eggs from her chickens and the warm welcome from the three dogs.

  • "We loved our stay at the The Duckhouse."

    Prisilla the host was lovely and coundn't do enough for us. The cottage was exactly as decribed. The kitchen and living area were great for two of us and our dog. We utilised all of the kitchen facilities and ate at home every night with no issues. The log burner was lovely and after you have used the starter kit that is provided you can purchase more logs from the local shop. The Wifi was really good , easily handled streaming netflix etc. The bedroom was really big and the bed comfortable. The location of the cottage is excellent for a quiet and relaxing week away with walks straight from the door. The area is surrounded by lovely villages and countryside walks and only 30 minutes from Shrewsbury if you want a town visit, which we did and really enjoyed - use the park and ride its much easier than parking in the town centre. We would recommend a stay if this suits your needs. Many thanks Carl

  • "We booked a long weekend stay and it was lovely."

    This is a rural retreat with absolutely stunning walks a stones throw away. Even with the weather being typically British the cairns and hills are beautiful. The duckhouse is perfect for couples. Would recommend stocking up with foods before coming as the closest shop is 6 miles away

I would like also to add that there is an excellent little village shop which stocks an impressive variety of stuff, including food, and is little over a mile away in the village of Stiperstones.   • "We enjoyed our stay at the Duck House which is in a lovely area."

    Pub at Stiperstones very welcoming and shop next door very handy. Only reservation about the property is that the wet room facility is rather small and therefore awkward to use for toilet and sink facilities once floor is wet.

  • "What an amazing week."

    The duck House is such a lovely place to stay, so peaceful only the sound of nature. Priscilla the owner is such a friendly lady whenever she saw us she would have a chat. There is lots to do with walks directly from the duck house and lots of places within a short drive. We will definitely be back.

  • "Great stay at the duck house."

    The owner is a lovely woman and was very welcoming, offered us a case of eggs from her own chickens that were lovely. The cottage it's self is lovely, great views out the windows and off the balcony, our only minor annoyance with the property is the wet room bathroom but it didn't ruin our stay at all. The kitchen is basic but perfect for 2 people with the use of a coffee machine for those that prefer brewed coffee over instant. We will definitely be returning in the future to this property.

  • "A delightful place overlooking a duck pond!"

    The owner is very helpful and kind. Her three dogs too are very welcoming. Easy walking to get up to Stiperstones ridge where the views are amazing. Lots of bridal ways near the property so one doesn’t need the car. Local shop next to pub in Stiperstones village is amazingly well stocked with everything from walking socks to well known supermarket brands and even alcohol. Dont worry if you forget something you will find it in the shop! The pub is very friendly with good range of meals available. A very relaxing place to stay and one we would return to in the future. Shrewsbury is about 35minutes away and Oswestry about 40mins . Lots of English Heritage and some lovely National Trust properties eg Wroxeter Roman remains and Stokestay Castle . Definitely the place for good walking and great views.

    Well equipped. Incredibly peaceful with great views over countryside. Great walking location to pick up a byway just outside the gate. Plenty of interesting places to visit further afield. Hope to return soon.

The village of Stiperstones nestles in an unspoilt valley on the slopes of the beautiful Stiperstones Hill range and is only eight miles from the delightful Church Stretton and 12 miles from the historic towns of Shrewsbury and Bishop’s Castle. This small Shropshire village boasts a shop and charming inn and is a perfect starting point for many scenic trails, with the summit of the famous Stiperstones Hill, a 1.5 mile walk, and the East Ridge Wood mountain bike trails very close by. This area is a designated National Nature Reserve, a SSSI and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is consequently a favourite place for outdoor and wildlife enthusiasts. The Stiperstones Hill range is dominated by dramatic quartzite tors, which tower above an unspoilt heathland, the most famous is the Devil’s Chair, whilst Manstone Rock is the highest point at 536m above sea level and offers stunning views on a clear day.
