"Absolutely enjoyed our stay at Penywhelp House."
We appreciated the milk, Welsh cakes and other extras on our arrival. Loved the history and quaintness of the property. Very clean and comfortable with loads of character and very well equipped. The lounge was comfortable and homely, the bedrooms were spacious and comfortable with views of River Teifi and the dog gates, dog bed, bowls etc were a nice touch. Garden patio area was a sun trap and safe and enclosed for our dog (plants just need a bit of tidying especially near the top of steep garden steps down to house). Great location for a walk by the River Teifi to the local shop, fish and chip shop, abbey ruins, coffee shop, post office and local pubs. Just a couple of miles from Poppit Beach with a high quality cafe. Plenty of lovely dog walks to enjoy. We had an amazing holiday and would stay at Penywhelp House and visit the lovely village of St Dogmaels again. Thank you :)
Thank you so much for the lovely feedback - we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay!
The gardeners came just after your visit - everything grows so quickly at this time of the year.

Perfect.
This is our second visit.
Beautifully and tastefully furnished in keeping with the cottage features. Very comfortable beds with a view across the bay to see the sunrise. And once again the weather was very kind so we could enjoy the garden which is safe and enclosed for the dogs and an all day sun trap.
Long walks on dog friendly Poppit Sands are a pleasure.
Will be returning again.

"Perfect! We loved everything about Penywhelp House."
It was quaint but spacious and cosy, very clean and very good valve for money. It had everything we needed, the owners had thought of everything right down to fire-lighters for the log burner. Wales wasn’t the place to visit for the weather in April there were thunderstorms and lots of rain, when it was sunny and warm back in Yorkshire. So for a couple of days we just sat with the dog by the fire watching the snooker World Cup, then nipped over the street to the dog friendly pub in the evening which did amazing food by the river (especially Sunday lunch). The village of St Dogmaels is very picturesque, with an old Abbey, coffee shop, fish & chip shop, post office and convenience store, it is very community focused and friendly and even has a community pub!. The famous local produce market is held on a Tuesday morning - not to be missed. Just a mile or two up the road from the cottage itself is a lovely little beach with an amazingly high quality beach hut cafe. All in all both the cottage and the location couldn’t have been better and we intend to visit again next year.
Thank you so much! We are so pleased you had a lovely time - I must admit, it's fantastic when the sun shines but even on the greyest days it's still lovely!
You really did find all the highlights too. There are some real little treasures in and around the village :-)
We look forward to seeing you back in St Dogs next year!

Very well equipped kitchen. Beds very comfortable. We were very pleased with the overall quality of the cottage.
The only problem was the parking space. We have a small car but found it tight and awkward to access. The steep steeps down to the back door although mentioned in the property details are not easy for anybody who has mobility problems.

Clean, comfortable and very homely, as it felt like you were visiting a relative’s home, especially with the interesting information about the history of the property. The garden was very pretty and well laid out and we were fortunate to be able to spend time on the patio, even though it was early March. The accommodation and surrounding area was very dog friendly, with plenty of walks directly from the house. The communication from Ruth was friendly and helpful and we would hesitate to book the property if we were visiting the area again.

The beds were really comfortable and the shower incredibly powerful. The kitchen had everything we needed though was pretty small. Just note that there is no washing machine.
We would have liked a visitor book (you can learn a lot about an area from other guests' comments) and much more information about the area, and the house itself. It was also a bit of a disappointment that an OS map wasn't provided.

Beautiful bedrooms, bathroom and well equipped kitchen.
We loved the back garden which is secure and dog friendly. The patio area is a real sun trap and we spent an hour or so enjoying the lovely cottage garden most days. Parking at the rear for the car is fantastic, the car didn't move all week as there is plenty to do in the area, poppit sands beach a 20 minute walk away which is mainly dog friendly apart from a small section cordoned off.
The Ferry Inn is less than a minute walk from Penywhelp House, we ate there 4 times over the week and thoroughly recommended it.

"We enjoyed our stay at Penywelph Cottage which was easy to find and well located for visit to the area."
Plenty of walks and access to Cardigan so not reliant on the car or local transport. The property was a mixture of old and with modern amenities which added to the charm. Useful to have a dedicated parking space although had to be careful maneuvering in and out. The bedrooms were a good size and a fairly modern bathroom with good water pressure and shower over bath. Comfortable living room and well equipped kitchen. We liked the cottage garden which was compact and fairly private although would have been good if the roses had been pruned at the gate from parking area as we were caught by thorns a few times. The steps to and from the garden to the cottage were very steep so had to be careful when used. Not good for anyone with mobility issues but the description does point this out. Overall a pleasant stay and would recommend..

The house was very comfortable with great utilities, especially the bathroom with a wider bath and shower. The property was warm, especially when the weather turned cold for a few days and we lit a cosy fire. When the sun shone, the garden was unique and delightful. The market is worth a visit on a tuesday morning, fab local cheeses.

Beautifully clean on arrival and in a nice quiet location looking over the estuary. I had trouble operating the tv to start with but the owner was available on the phone and helped me. I had taken my own firewood and really enjoyed the log burner in the evenings. The pub restaurant opposite is good and there are lovely walks, with many more 10 minutes away by car. If I had to suggest improvements I’d say a more comfy sofa and the option of buying firewood there rather than transporting my own. But highly recommended and good value.
