About the location

Staindrop

Barnard Castle 5 miles; Durham 20 miles.

The pretty Teesdale village of Staindrop has always been closely associated with the fortunes of nearby Raby Castle and its owners. The Castle (open to the public) is one of the most grand in England. Enlarged and beautified over the centuries, the medieval heart remains and a walled garden and 200 acre deer park add to the splendour. Staindrop has many interesting shops, pubs and cafes set round its long village green. The popular market town of Barnard Castle is 5 miles away, with its castle, the Bowes Museum, plus of course its wide range of shops and tea rooms. Walkers will enjoy the many walks around Teesdale.

Fantastic accommodation, and lovely hosts.

Mr Thickett, Doncaster, October 2013

The Cote is the old granary and has been superbly renovated into a very nice cottage. If you want a relaxing back stay in driving distance of central Country Durham and the Pennines we cannot think of a better place.

Mr Duggan, London, August 2013

Well laid out property. Lovely spot. Very nice people. We will be going back soon. Our grandchildren love every minute of the stay.

Mr Erwin, Wakefield, October 2012

What a place, just loved it, great people, its great to be in amongst a working farm. Just what you want, lovely scenery. Idyllic location, we will return again and again.

Mr Smith, Sheffield, October 2012
