Moorcote Farm Cottages
These three stone-built, semi-detached barn conversions are situated on the owners’ former farmstead, in three acres of grounds. They are surrounded by grouse moors and old woodlands, in the peaceful hamlet of Ellingstring, five miles from both Masham and Middleham. Two of these lovely barn conversions are set over two floors and have an upside down layout to take advantage of the views across this wild and rugged landscape, towards beautiful Nidderdale on one side and impressive Wensleydale on the other. There is a shared courtyard garden and three acres of grounds, ideal for sitting out and enjoying a refreshing drink, or you may wish to admire the magnificent night sky, which is totally uninterrupted by any light pollution. Also the resident hens on-site will only be too happy to provide fresh eggs for breakfast, a great way to start the day before the rigours of setting out across the moors. Excellent walking opportunities can be found here, and for those wishing to get back to nature the area boasts an abundance of wildlife, including owls, curlews, deer, French partridge, black grouse, duck and pheasant. Local Yorkshire attractions can be found close by, such as Harrogate with RHS Harlow Carr Gardens, Ripon with Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal, Pateley Bridge with Brimham Rocks and Ilkley with its famous moor. York with its historic attractions is also within driving distance. These two excellent cottages are ideal for those wishing to get away from it all and enjoy a break in the wild and rugged Dales.
This lovely stone-built barn conversion offers an ideal retreat for a couple within this wonderful part of Yorkshire.
Boasting upside down accommodation, this cottage has one ground floor bedroom and a ground floor shower room, whilst upstairs there’s a first floor open plan living area.

About the location
Ripon 9 miles; Bedale 6 miles; Northallerton 14 miles.
The historic little market town of Masham is situated in the lower reaches of pretty Wensleydale alongside the River Ure. Set in gently rolling farmland, the town boasts a huge market square, where a Wednesday market has been joined by a popular Saturday market. There are lots of walks around the area, including a 10-mile walk along the Ure, arguably one of the best in the UK. The town boasts a good range of crafts, galleries, shops, restaurants and pubs and has become best known perhaps as the home of two breweries Theakstons of Old Peculiar fame and the Black Sheep Brewery, which now brews 11 million pints of beer a year! The popular towns of Ripon, Thirsk, Northallerton, Richmond and Harrogate are an easy drive away. With so much to see and do in the area, this is a great place for a holiday in all seasons.
