LOSTWITHIEL

Bodmin 7 miles; Fowey 8 miles.

A delightfully peaceful country town, nestling in the Fowey river valley amid the woods and fields that characterise the area. Renowned as a centre for the antiques trade, there are several shops and dealers in the town, as well as a fine collection of country pubs, restaurants and a thriving farmer's market. Lanhydrock House (NT) and gardens is just 3 miles away, while the fabulous Eden Project, shipwreck museum and tall ships harbour at Charlestown, and the picturesque fishing village of Mevagissey are all within 30 minutes by car. The tumbling surf, long sandy beaches and dramatic coastline of the north coast make for great days out. The river Fowey runs from the town on its 8 mile journey through the fields and wooded valleys to the gentler southern coast, a natural paradise for those who love the sea. Centrally placed, with much to do and see in the immediate area, Lostwithiel is the perfect choice for those seeking a break away from the hectic pace of the tourist resorts.

The Owners of Brocks Barn made us feel very welcome on arrival. Their welcome pack was also a very nice addition. The nearby wildlife was also a big plus.

We went with a view to playing golf and managed to play 5 times. Lostwithiel & Lanhydrock golf courses were within 10 minutes drive whilst there were 3 courses in and around St Austell all within 30 minutes drive. The weather was excellent which made the holiday. The accommodation really was 5 Star. The cottage is situated in a quiet lane with fantastic views over the Cornwall countryside.

The property was of an excellent standard and everything you could possibly need is provided. Location was ideal, situated in a quiet spot with lovely views across the fields, but also within easy reach of lots of the main attractions in this area. All in all an excellent place to spend a few days, highly recommended.

The whole weekend break was fantastic because of the atmosphere, location and first class accommodation. There was not one thing which we didn't like...... except that we didn't like going home after the short weekend break!
