Fancy a trip to the Lake District and looking for somewhere to
stay that's close to daytime and evening entertainment? Then
consider one of our Kendal cottages, just south of the National
Park.
History, culture, restaurants, shops, festivals - everything you
could wish for is here. Let's start with the Kendal Museum and
Museum of Lakeland Life. There's a fabulous art gallery, stage
performances at the Brewery Arts Centre and a fascinating church
with five aisles! Kids, meanwhile, will play hide and seek in the
Serpentine Woods or enjoy a trip along the canal. And when
you're feeling peckish, there's a wide choice of
restaurants and cafés.
Stride out from your Kendal cottage to the ruins of Kendal
Castle - a great view point over the surrounding fells. Equally
beautiful are the sweeping vistas from the top of nearby Scout
Scar, across the Lyth Valley to Morecambe Bay. Both Lake Windermere
and the Yorkshire Dales are just a short drive away, so when it
comes to exploring the area on foot, two wheels or four, the choice
is yours. Look out for Levens Hall and Sizergh Castle - both worth
a visit.
Back in Kendal discover intriguing yards like Wainwright's
and Blackhall, brimming with shops selling everything from wooden
toys to trendsetting handbags. There are markets galore, a designer
outlet village (site of the K Shoes Heritage Centre) and, of
course, Romney's for Kendal Mint Cake!
And if you book your Kendal cottage with a festival in mind, the
programme varies from music and art to country pursuits and chilli!
How's that?
