  • "Found a little gem of a place to stay with friends to celebrate the New Year."

    It was lovely and warm on arrival which was appreciated on such a cold frosty day. Lovely welcome pack of goodies where doggie treats and Prosecco were appreciated by all - Woof! Facilities were fab including the kitchen area to prepare all meals. Bedrooms and bathrooms were very comfortable and had all the mod cons. Overall 5 star and would highly recommend and would definitely stay again in the future.

  • "Lovely single floor accommodation which was well appointed."

    The weather wasn't great at times so having a comfortable place to stay was ideal. There was no mobile phone reception but there is WiFi. A bus stop is yards from the driveway which we used instead of driving. We had a lovely holiday.

  • "This was the perfect accommodation for two older couples."

    On one level, perfect double rooms with en suites, a relaxed and very good sized lounge, kitchen and dining area. spotlessly clean. We were very pleased with all the amenities, possibly one more tea towel ? but that is being picky. Robin and Carole have offered a delightful holiday home.

  • "The property was absolutely lovely all on the ground floor as advertised."

    I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone else. The walk along the River Lim Path to Lyme Regis was delightful, just a climb back to the property from the main road, but the bus passes once an hour during the day. As an older person, a milk saucepan and a rail in the shower to steady myself would have been helpful, but not to say it would bother anyone else.

Your feedback on facilities is welcomed, there is a microwave for warming food in the utility room off the kitchen which we hoped would be useful for our guests.   • "Fabulous house with everything you could need."

    Light and airy it overlooks a valley in the hills behind Lyme Regis. The walk into the town centre is delightful. We had a wonderful week exploring the area and also sitting in the terrace relaxing and looking at the view. Well appointed and exceptionally clean and tidy the house offered easy access to so much of the lovely Devon/ Dorset area. We loved it. Only minor niggle was the TV audio wasn’t great so made watching TV a bit tricky. But as we went out a lot it didn’t inconvenience us hugely. But we will be looking forward to another visit to this great house.

  • "The Lodge was the perfect location for our visit to Dorset / Devon, ideally placed within short distance of several seaside towns and attractions."

    The property itself was excellent. It is 'Tardis-like' internally, with large open plan lounge / dining area and kitchen, and bedrooms / ensuites of good size too. Meticulously clean with a 'new look' to appliances and facilities throughout. The published photos represent the property very accurately. Care and thought has gone into the provision of visitor attraction info,, maps, guides, games and books. Our hosts were very kind in their attention to our comfort, providing a lovely welcome pack of goodies and practical (kitchen) items and even phone chargers. and asking after any additional needs during our stay.. Even the thought to present labels to plugs and light switches has been considered to stop the guesswork! The hosts' location in the adjacent property was reassuring. The facility of on site parking was a key aspect of our choice of this property. The best advert for The Lodge is that we would be very keen to return to it again when down Dorset / Devon way. It suited our needs perfectly.

The property

The Lodge at Redlands is a wonderful, detached single-storey property in the pretty village of Uplyme, on the Devon/Dorset border and close to the popular seaside town of Lyme Regis and the UNESCO Jurassic Coast.

With two en-suite bedrooms and underfloor heating throughout, this pet-friendly lodge is the ideal retreat for couples or friends looking to relax and unwind in this beautiful part of the country.

The private drive leads to the lodge, with its parking space and patio seating area.

Step inside to find an impressive open-plan living area with high vaulted ceilings, automated skylight windows, and floor-to-ceiling windows which flood the room with light.

With delightful personal touches, the seating area is a bright and welcoming space, with ample seating where you can sit back and relax, taking in a movie or your favourite TV programme.

The sleek kitchen area is well-equipped with everything needed for a self-catering holiday, including a dishwasher and coffee machine, with the adjoining laundry room ensuring you have everything needed for your home-from-home holiday.

All on one level, the two bedrooms are both tastefully furnished and have en-suite shower rooms.

The first bedroom offers flexible sleeping arrangements with a super-king bed, which can be made up as a twin room if required.

The second bedroom is an inviting king-size.

Outside, the patio area enjoys views over Uplyme and the countryside beyond, with the table and chairs providing a great spot to enjoy dining alfresco.

When it comes to the area, the village of Uplyme is only a short stroll away and has a popular village pub, The Talbot Arms, and a Petrol Station with a small convenience store and post office, perfect for stocking up on your everyday essentials.

A delightful and picturesque riverside walk from Uplyme takes you into Lyme Regis, a spectacular seaside town with its family-friendly beaches, famous Cobb Harbour, and other popular visitor attractions, including the Marine Aquarium.

For the times when you want a break from driving, the lodge is conveniently located for the local bus routes to Lyme Regis and Axminster, with daily services following the coastal route to Weymouth and taking in the pretty villages of Abbotsbury and Burton Bradstock.

Other popular days out include Charmouth, with its Coastal Heritage Centre on the beach, where you can learn about the area’s diverse geological history and pick up tips about fossil hunting on the shores.

However you plan to spend your holiday, The Lodge at Redlands is a great place to retreat to at the end of each day.

The lodge is 60 meters from a bus stop connecting Axminster Station to Uplyme, Lyme Regis, Bridport and along the Jurassic Coast to Weymouth.

The beautiful countryside surrounding the village of Uplyme, on the borders of Devon and Dorset, is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, criss-crossed by bridleways and footpaths including the East Devon Way, and providing perfect country walks and superb views. The area was chosen by TV chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall for his River Cottage HQ at Park Farm, where you can treat yourself to a great meal. Just a short drive takes you to the stunning Jurassic Coast at Lyme Regis. This delightful historic seaside town boasts a maze of narrow streets, with an interesting array of shops and cafes, whilst the sandy beach lends itself to great bathing and watersports, and the bustling little harbour offers regular fishing trips, or try your hand at fossil hunting. Within an easy drive is the quaint town of Axminster, or how about a ride on the Seaton Tramway? A glorious location for a varied and interesting holiday.
