  • "The cottage was lovely and in a very scenic and peaceful setting."

I only marked it down a star because the kitchen lacked some basic items, such as a can-opener, cafetiere, measuring jug and kitchen scales. There was also a built-in wine cooler which was not working and a re-cycling bin drawer that we were told not to use. It's a pity that one of these items isn't taken out and replaced with a washing machine, which would have been more useful. Overall, we had a very good stay, and can highly recommend the local Indian restaurant.

Thanks Janet for your feedback, we will make sure all those things are addressed :) Property Owner

  • "Lovely bungalow with (almost) everything we needed."

The beds were very comfortable and the showers were out of this world! The only thing missing was a washing machine. We knew there wouldn't be one so we packed accordingly, but it's the only thing that would have made the place perfect. One comment. The cupboards either side of the hob are not easy to use. I'm a tall woman, so I don't know how shorter people manage. But don't see these as gripes. We had a great stay in your really good bungalow and would recommend it to our friends.

Thanks Hilary for your kind words and feedback. Noted on the washing machine we shall see if we can get that installed and the cupboards. Hope to see you again in the nearby future. Warm Regards Property Owner

  • "Really lovely property with great amenities."

Layout was practical and spacious and in particular was impressed with the size of kitchen. The owner was very helpful and at hand for any issues, there was a couple of minor things which he rectified immediately, we appreciated his prompt responses and service. in general the property would be very calming and peaceful - though frustratingly for us, there was building work happening very closely and I wish we were informed of this beforehand. We would absolutely return it there was no building work.

  • "Lovely property in an excellent location."

Very modern and had everything we needed for our stay. Although the wasn’t a washing machine in our cottage the owners very kindly allowed us to use one in another on site property and said they would be putting a machine into our property soon. The host Pav and his lovely wife were so nice and on hand to offer any assistance we needed - thanks so much to both of them for making our stay memorable.

  • "We stayed here on 29/06/19 for 1week."

Anita and Pav were very welcoming and nothing was to much trouble for them. The cottage was very high spec.. it was a beautiful place to stay. However I must say I would not have booked it had I known the place was a building site. The family are building 5 new cottages on the site, which was not stated. Having said that we were not disturbed by the builders as Pav ensured that the workmen stayed away until late in the morning. A lovely place to stay to visit the beautiful scenery. Than Thank you for a lovely holiday.

  • "The cottage is well equipped, comfortable, clean and warm and in an ideal location for exploring the area."

We were, however, disappointed to discover that there are a further four properties currently being built on the site and were only made aware of this building work when we spoke to the owners to arrange key collection a week prior to arrival. During our stay at the cottage, we did at times feel slightly compromised with our sense of privacy and peacefulness due to the early starts by the builders. We therefore feel that this should have been noted in the property description prior to our booking as it may well have influenced our decision to book our New Years break at this property. That being said, we would consider returning to this cottage in the future when the site has been completed.

  • "It was lovely thank you just lacked a little attention to detail in my opinion i."

    E. Outside pots had mainly weeds in them, only small area of the lawn was mowed so outlook was weeds in a field mainly, dead fly in kitchen drawer, one shower not warm enough and oddly fake flowers missing its pot so just in polystyrene. Lovely area and high end finish, we saw a deer and baby rabbits while there which made my stay!

About the location

RIBCHESTER

Blackburn 7 miles; Clitheroe 9 miles; Preston 11 miles.

The village of Ribchester is encircled by green hills and lies in a curve of the River Ribble mid way between Preston and Clitheroe. It is a pleasant jumble of multi-coloured stone cottages in long twisting terraces. It has three pubs, the White Bull, dated 1707, the Black Bull and the Ribchester Arms and the award-winning Chinese restaurant Yu and You Restaurant and Bar. The White Bull has a porch canopy supported by four columns said to be from Roman ruins. The village takes its name from the River Ribble and the fort of Bremetennacum (the walled town by the Ribble). For this reason, Ribchester has been seen to have a purely Roman foundation, but excavations in 1977 showed that settlements going back to the middle Bronze Age existed in the area. An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Ribble Valley is a rural haven of spectacular scenery, diverse natural habitats and historical legend, a place of almost incomparable peace, where adults and children alike can enjoy the simple pleasures of the outdoors without the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Longridge is easily reached, a unique town with plenty of interesting shops and tempting eateries, described as 'big on character' by the Sunday Times and ranked in their '101 Best Places To Live In Britain'. Nearby Clitheroe is famed for its specialist shops of all types, including, amongst others, a sausage shop that sells over seventy-five different varieties! A gourmet's paradise, with award-winning restaurants and country hotels situated throughout the valley, and annual events including a number of agricultural shows and day festivals of all types, this fantastic location has plenty to offer at any time of year!
