"Cottage can be very noisy from the garage workshop directly beneath the accommodation."
Not good for spending a peaceful time indoors or in the garden. But stunningly beautiful location, close to the SW footpath, church and excellent tearooms. 'Double' bedroom scarcely bigger than the bed. Needs redecorating throughout.

"Our stay was lovely, peaceful and very enjoyable."
The cottage was well equipped, nicely secluded but within easy reach of a good pub and quaint tea rooms, with my favourite cream teas, within an easy walk. Paula the owner was very welcoming and our two dogs loved her dog Seamus. The bed was soo comfortable. There were several walks close to the cottage.
We will certainly be returning in the future.

"Carrows Stables is a wonderful location because it lies very remote and we enjoyed seaviews as well as the fact that the South West Coast Path is only a 5 minutes walk away from the cottage."
With The Rectory Tearooms and the Bush Inn close by, very good food was always at hand. The kitchen was very well equipped. Paula, the owner of Carrows Stable, was very kind and always helpful (she also cut the plants so that we had a great view from the window in the living room). Her dog Seamus was absolutely adorable and a highlight of our stay. Nevertheless, I agree with Carolyn´s review (August 2023) concerning the condition of the cottage: it needs redecorating and the cleaning was not very well done (cobwebs, empty dogfood tin from a previous tenant in the dustbin ...). The second bedroom and bathroom in the first floor are very small. Although the cottage is supposed to host six guests, I think the eating table is too small for more than four people. The pictures of the art deco window are not really accurate, because the window sill is not wide enough to sit there comfortably. Since old houses often smell musty, it would have been nice if the house had been ventilated and heated before we arrived. We also missed hooks in the entry hall for our jackets - luckily it didn´t rain during our stay so we just put them over a chair. In terms of price, I would have expected

"We have just returned from a 2 week stay at carrow stables."
If you love walking and want a complete get away from hustle and bussel this is the place for you but be aware you will need your car alot.
We met the owner and the renowned seamus the dog on day 1, very friendly and helpful.
The cottage has all you could want but is getting a bit tired around the edges I think some tlc required soon and maybe just a tad better cleaning as dusty round edges, however only minor issue.
We walked along the cliffs on many paths my 2 sons did a few longer yomps where they walked back from other places we visited such as sandy Bay.
We visited Port isaac, tintagell, Eden project, lanhydroc House and gardens, Padstow.
The Bush inn a short stroll up the road does lovely food and very nice staff if you don't want to cook, nice local cider too.
It would have been lovely if tree could be pruned so sunsets could be seen out to sea from big window in lounge. It now obscures most of view and sunsets are quite spectacular.
Better sheets would also be good, again clean and OK but they are rough even my 15year old commented on them.
Thankyou for a lovely holiday we have all returned home much more chilled than when we arrived.

"We had a great week at Carrows Stables."
Very clean, comfortable and very well equipped. Paula is a wonderful host and her Bedlington Whippet Seamus is just the friendliest dog you could wish to meet. The location is stunning and the large garden is a pleasure to spend time in. Nearby walks and beaches are lovely and the Bush Inn just up the road is very nice and serves very good food. We shall certainly be looking to return to Carrows in the not too distant future. Thank you.

"This cottage is in the most beautiful, tranquile location with a wonderful view over the pastures and the sea."
Good grounds for children to play in & lots of space to lounge around.
The beds were comfortable but we found the un-ironed linen sheets & duvet covers were very scratchy.
A table in the Main bedroom bathroom could do with a little table for toiletries etc.
The kitchen was really well equipped but the over head extractor fan was very greasy & dirty.
The hostess was charming & very eager to help accommodate us with our queries and made the stay even more special by her attentiveness.
Seamus her dog was an absolute delight and well loved by us all.
We will definitely be looking to stay here again. Thank you from us all.

"We had a wonderful stay at Carrows Stable over Christmas, it was a lovely warm cosy home from home ,with wonderful views."
The kitchen was well equipped so I was able to cook Xmas dinner with no difficulties. We all slept well in the comfortable bedrooms. There was even a bean bag reading nook that was lovely. As a family of three generations we had a special Christmas after a difficult couple of years . Carrows stable is a gem.

"The previous review mentioned the lumpy mattress - I would agree."
Other than that I thought the cottage was absolutely delightful, a little gem tucked away in the middle of nowhere. The walking is superb in the local area, the Bush Inn was a real experience! Clearer instructions on parking and what to do with rubbish/recycling would be useful. Overall a great few days away and somewhere where we will be returning!

The stables is a genuine character cottage to get away from it all : secluded , comfortable and with the most amazing outlook.
The local amenities are great with the tearooms , a fantastic pub and cafe and shop in walking distance.
Loved the decor and Paula was a great host . Seamus the dog really made the holiday special for our two dog obsessed girls.

"We have just returned from a fantastic and memorable holiday at Carrows Stable."
What a fabulous place to stay. The location is definitely best described as rural. There is only the Old Rectory that the stables is attached to, a church, a farm and a very popular tea rooms within the immediate area. There is a local shop a few miles away and a pub about 5 minutes walk away. On the plus side, you are a few minutes walk away from the coastal foot path. Fantastic place for dogs!
We loved the accommodation, found the facilities excellent and the property has great character. But, be aware. There is no phone signal at the house at all and WiFi is very limited in the property. All the better for it if you're looking for a beautiful, quiet and tranquil spot to stay.
The location is just breath-taking. Watching the summer sunset from the enormous arched lounge window every evening and listening to the church bells on a Thursday night are memories I will hold dear for a very long time.
If you are interested in the local history, there is tons to explore right on your doorstep. The property itself is very interesting and the church, right next door is fascinating. Well worth checking out.

"The property advises that it has Wifi, however the signal is not that good as the router is based in the owners property a few meters away."
With no phone service it is considered that a good WiFi service should be provided.
The beds downstairs were very firm and not very comfortable, the beds upstairs were not too bad, one very soft, the other firm. The furniture within the property was relatively basic but considered reasonable for a place that accepts pets. The place was clean, well equipped and in a lovely rural location ideal for walks, but a trip by car is needed to local facilities. The location was also very quiet.

"We had a brilliant time at Carrows Stables."
It was the most delightful setting, perfect for the dogs as we were literally on the Coastal Path. The Rectory Tea Rooms were just up the hill for a delicious cream tea, along with the pub down the road serving excellent food. We were accompanied each early morning by the owners dog Seamus, which was fun for our two. We definitely will come back next year. Working out how to use the TV was an experience, but we got the hang of it. There is no mobile phone signal, unless you walk up the hill, so if you want mobile/wifi free holiday, this is the place for you. Cannot fault the facilities. My only drawback, was that some of the beds were far too hard for me, so I surfed bedrooms each night !!

"Just come home from a 3 might stay at Carrows Stable in Morwenstow, Cornwall."
The sat nav directs you to the hamlet and not the property but if you head for the local church you'll find it just below it. The cottage is very clean and really well equipped with big comfy beds and everything you will need. Really dog friendly too! All rooms furnished to a high standard. The local area is great for the walks and the views but the South West coastal path can be very challenging! The views make the steep pathways worthwhile even if you do need a few moments to get your breath back! The cottage is around 5 minutes from the one and only local pub, The Bush Inn. Thankfully the pub is excellent so you don't need anything else! Great selection of beers and the food is amazing! Good choice, freshly cooked and reasonable prices. The local cheese board was out of this world! Highly recommend the pub and thanks to all the staff who made us welcome. We would highly recommend Carrows Stable for couples, families and groups of up to 6.

"Lovely cottage in a most beautiful tranquil location, perfect for coastal walks and excellent with a dog."
Owner in next door vicarage kept to herself but was always available if needed. Mattress in main bedroom rather dipped and not the most comfortable and downstairs twin rather dark but well equipped kitchen , lovely bathrooms and comfy , if fairly basic sitting room with beautiful sea view. The friendly tea rooms in village did the best cream tea plus good home made light lunches . Pub within walking distance did very reasonable food too. Other good restaurants we found in Bude including Temple and Bank tapas are within a 20 minute drive but need to book ahead.
